To wear no bra (nipple issues)

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 19:52

So many of my nice summer tops and dresses just can't be worn with a bra.

Unfortunately since having ds and breastfeeding for 3.5 years my nipples are like sodding bullets.

Last year I tried using those silicone stick on things but had a couple of very embarrassing incidents where they fell out of my dress in public. Blush

Dh says 'fuck it, who cares if people can see your nipples?' and I don't give two shits if I notice another woman's but I do feel uncomfortable when the odd person gives me filthy looks.

Do I need to buy a whole new wardrobe, not give a fuck or has anyone else got any tricks they use?

It's a bit ironic really seeing as 3.5 years of breastfeeding means they've been out a hell of a lot, not sure why I'm all Prussian about the nips! Grin

Just keep - that's exactly what I look like! Grin

Imperial- just backless tops or low sided tops. I don't get how you can't possibly imagine. Hmm

Or nice Monsoon dress with big scoop backs. Can't wear a strapless even as there's no back.

And even racer back. So many tops and dresses bras don't work with.

My nipples show through padded bras unless mega padded. .. I didn't realise it was soooo frowned upon hahaa. Though I also give zero fucks

picklemepopcorn · 05/05/2017 22:13

I'm 47, DD, I wear really bright patterned bras. I like particularly like certain colours, so they tend to coordinate with my cloths a bit- but not match.

So I've one with a hot pink straps and a black chinoiserie pattern, another is turquoise, one purple. I have given up trying to hide bras, I just make sure what I flash is fabulous.

Asda did a stunning range of patterned oriental fabrics a coup,e of years ago and I bought loads.

picklemepopcorn · 05/05/2017 22:14

If I'm wearing nothing, then duct tape keeps everything in place. And after breastfeeding, no it doesn't hurt!

KinkyAfro · 05/05/2017 22:16

Can't believe OP is being grilled about the type of clothes she wants to wear? She's described the clothes, it's not that hard to picture what they might look like really. Some have low backs, some have low sides, some have racer backs...easy. Wear what you like OP, I wish I could wear those types of clothes but alas I'm too fat!

msgrinch · 05/05/2017 22:19

You do realise you can buy tape/decent stick on bras etc/bras with clear straps. Hardly an issue. There is even tape bras, which are amazing. I have 30G breasts and can wear all of the above if brought from proper places. No need for on show nipples or waggy breasts.

Smitff · 05/05/2017 22:21

Where do you live OP??! Sounds glorious!

Smitff · 05/05/2017 22:22

Sorry, just to confirm: glorious not because I might see your nipples, but because of the intrigue in hot climes Blush

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 05/05/2017 22:34

I simply do not understand the disgust with being able to see the outline of nipples. They're still clothed Confused

Go for it OP. I dont have this problem as if I wanted to go braless my nipples could be tucked right underneath Grin

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 22:55

Duct tape?!!! My poor nipples!! May give it a desperate try.

I live in Maine near the sea. So piss cold in the winter (huge nipples but no problem as 503 layers) but hot and humid in the Summer.

Not at all exotic, sorry!

It has taken me a long time (and 6 years of breastfeeding) to succumb to the casual sexism and internalised misogyny which is the British aversion to braless nipples. Before I moved to England, a bra was something I might put on if going on a date, and hoping to have help undressing a few hours later. For everyday, when my physique did not require it? Nah.
These days, I really resent that a bra is considered part of professional attire, and that were I not to wear one, I would most certainly be spoken to (bullet nipples here too), despite the dress code not specifying the need for one. I find it almost more upsetting when women object, to be honest.

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 22:58

I've clearly not bought stick on bras in a long time. Last time I got one (probably 10+ years ago) it fell off when I was clubbing pretty quickly.

No need for waggy breasts or nipples on show?

Good god. No need?

What I do not understand, among a zillion other things, obv, is why women's breasts are simultaneously supposed to be On Show, with bras like like fucking Collie dogs ("rounds em up and points em in the right direction"), and Absolutely Invisible (no nipple no "waggyness").

Fuck it. Let your nipples do their thing.

Louiselouie0890 · 05/05/2017 23:53

I honestly don't get why anyone would care.

FreddieFlowerdew · 06/05/2017 00:19

I really don't want to see nipples and don't understand what's the big deal about clear bra straps, strapless bras or convertible bras. Seeing a bra strap is much more socially acceptable than free range nipples.

SnapJack68 · 06/05/2017 00:33

I am soo surprised at all this nipple aversion! I have probably Been such an upset to so many people for sooo long haha

OlennasWimple · 06/05/2017 00:38

Where on earth do you live?!

I would wear either neutral coloured bras, or bright coloured bras - or maybe a combination depending on what peculiar flimsy clothes I was wearing that day

Psolomon · 06/05/2017 00:45

IllByMoonlight, I'm afraid we could never be friends. You see, I am of the opinion that if we really are a sisterhood we would do each other a favour and keep our nipples under control and out of sight. We all have to rub along out here in, you know, society, and that means not assaulting the unsuspecting public with your nasty unbuttressed nips.

MrsFloppy · 06/05/2017 01:06

You can still see a bra if it's flesh coloured and too be honest I find that kind of tacky. Hence my going to lengths to find alternatives.
