To wear no bra (nipple issues)

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 19:52

So many of my nice summer tops and dresses just can't be worn with a bra.

Unfortunately since having ds and breastfeeding for 3.5 years my nipples are like sodding bullets.

Last year I tried using those silicone stick on things but had a couple of very embarrassing incidents where they fell out of my dress in public. Blush

Dh says 'fuck it, who cares if people can see your nipples?' and I don't give two shits if I notice another woman's but I do feel uncomfortable when the odd person gives me filthy looks.

Do I need to buy a whole new wardrobe, not give a fuck or has anyone else got any tricks they use?

It's a bit ironic really seeing as 3.5 years of breastfeeding means they've been out a hell of a lot, not sure why I'm all Prussian about the nips! Grin

I also wouldn't like to see a man walking around with leggings on showing off the outline of his penis and balls

How are nipples the same as penis and balls?

Being offended by nipples is like being offended by breastfeeding. Breasts and nipples have been so sexualised that we're made to feel ashamed of them. They become erect in different situations, not just because of sexual arousal.

If i didn't have such big boobs with south facing nipples, i'd go braless. Even with a bra on, my nipples are still obvious. I refuse to wear a padded bra that would make my boobs look even bigger, just to protect the sensitive.

n0ne · 06/05/2017 08:17

I've always had bullet nipples and hate for them to be visible. There is a bra for every style of dress/top nowadays. You can even get stick-on ones that literally cover just your boobs, along with multiways ones that can be halter, racing back, low back, you name it.

n0ne · 06/05/2017 08:18

Sorry, should have RTFT

Mommawoo · 06/05/2017 08:26

What about a bikini top? I had a really low cut, backless dress that I used to wear with a triangle bikini top. I cut the back string shorter and tied it at the side so the knot couldnt be seen at the back.

IllMetByMoonlight · 06/05/2017 08:27

Psolomon, of course we could be friends! As I mentioned in my post, I have succumbed and assimilated, so you wouldn't see my nipples. But it doesn't stop me thinking it's a pity they're such a big deal here.

Lweji · 06/05/2017 08:29

If you really are that keen on those tops (and perhaps next time you buy any think of the bra you'll wear) then there are a few solutions.

Also, a good strapless in the right size should fit and stay in place.

BusterGonad · 06/05/2017 08:30

Jim I'm not offended by them or if them, I just don't think visible protruding nipples is a very nice look, i personally think it looks a bit..,.dare I say it....cheap!

MrsKoala · 06/05/2017 09:22

Those bras don't fit me Lweji. If you have small ski slope boobs you look like you have half footballs stuck on your front. I've never found a normal bra that fits let alone the holy grail of a strapless one!

ragged · 06/05/2017 09:39

They R your nipples, OP. I don't like mine to be remotely outlined. People may stare if they find yours very obvious. How much do you mind funny looks or stares or knowing some random person (who may be a total creep who was going to think about your Nips anyway) are thinking about your champagne corks?

I Love my Bras. Would never go without one or consider clothing that wouldn't work with a bra. But you can do what you like that is legal. - Yours truly of D-cup

rizlett · 06/05/2017 10:04

Which odd people go around staring at nipples anyway?

Let's have a summer dare to bare your nipple week - I don't mean externally -but still safely stowed in your clothes.

I can't believe all this hoo-har over a pair of completely natural body parts. Not to mention the judgy comments about which top you should or shouldn't be allowed to wear.

(and for all those lucky enough to have bullets please celebrate before the age of time passes quietly stretching your areolas out of all proportion = flat nipples forever.)

Jimcanna · 06/05/2017 10:21

Having obvious nipples makes me cheap. Got it. Thanks.

rizlett · 06/05/2017 10:27

Obviously we all have nipples - so we're all cheap. Grin

MrsKoala · 06/05/2017 10:34

I only have one obvious nipple so I'm only half cheap, OR half expensive - which is so much better. Grin

Staypuff · 06/05/2017 10:34

I'm with your dh. I see plenty of hard nipples on men and women, my brother is constantly peanut smuggling.

MamaHanji · 06/05/2017 10:38

Since starting breastfeeding, my nipples are always showing through my bra and top! Except for a few embarrassing incidents of one of them pointing one way and the other pointing another way, I just live with it.

I just make sure they're even before I leave the house Grin

MrsFloppy · 06/05/2017 10:43

I love the scarf idea!

DD sounds big but they really don't look it. I think they're just, wide or something.

I'd been wearing an a cup for years so was gobsmacked.

And bras just don't fit properly now. I never could wear balconette, plunge now look awful, the only thing that contains them and doesn't make them look like shit are those awful Gran bras.

Bikini tops also could be a way to go. I'm going on holiday to somewhere even more conservative next week so need to get these buggers under control.

Illmetbymoonlight
Where do you live where nipples roam free?

Op, matalan sell a bandeau bra as well. It's not as vicious as a strapless so you don't bet that sliced across the front look. It just adds some bounce reduction and a thicker layer across the nips. I'm a DD who can go bra less, too, as long as the fabric is reasonably substantial.

picklemepopcorn · 06/05/2017 10:55

Gosh, that one really does specifically address the nipple area...

MrsFloppy · 06/05/2017 11:00

These could also give out the wrong impression. There's a whole world of nipple coverings it seems!

Found this when googling Tape bra as I have no idea what one is!

MrsFloppy · 06/05/2017 11:10

Mine would look nothing like that unless I stick an apple in between before taping. Grin
