To wear no bra (nipple issues)

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 19:52

So many of my nice summer tops and dresses just can't be worn with a bra.

Unfortunately since having ds and breastfeeding for 3.5 years my nipples are like sodding bullets.

Last year I tried using those silicone stick on things but had a couple of very embarrassing incidents where they fell out of my dress in public. Blush

Dh says 'fuck it, who cares if people can see your nipples?' and I don't give two shits if I notice another woman's but I do feel uncomfortable when the odd person gives me filthy looks.

Do I need to buy a whole new wardrobe, not give a fuck or has anyone else got any tricks they use?

It's a bit ironic really seeing as 3.5 years of breastfeeding means they've been out a hell of a lot, not sure why I'm all Prussian about the nips! Grin

Apparently those clear Compeed blister plasters are good for this (never tried them myself mind!).

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 20:29

Santico- thanks, will have a look!

I'd need a few inches of body glitter to hide these bad boys! Grin

Go the whole hog. Nipple tassels.

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 20:31

It's also quite hot and humid in the summer where I live which means they have to have good stick or I'll have them falling off. Another reason I hate bras, it's awful wearing them when it's that sticky!

I'm not that small anymore, last time I was measured I was a 32DD.

I can't imagine caring (or noticing) if another woman's nipples showed through her clothes.

But then I can't imagine caring if a woman chose to go around topless, so maybe I'm not the average viewer.

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 20:39

Where I live you get judged if you have a drink at lunch time. There's also quite a lot of weird swinging (I say swinging but most of the time it's just people cheating on each other) and consequently women can be viciously jealous. I try and keep my head down after friends creepy husband has tried it on a couple of times. He's exactly the kind of bastard who'd do something and blame it on what you were wearing. Angry

I'm realising my nc to 'Mrs floppy' may be contradictory. Grin

Just dress appropriately. If you need to wear a bra, then buy clothes that accommodate that .

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 20:41

So I chuck out my entire lovely wardrobe? Sad

There are nice strapless bras in your size you just have to hunt (really hard). I've actually found some good ones in primark! Good shape although not particularly sexy. Wonder bra strapless are also worth a shout

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 20:50

Strapless just don't stay up anymore either.

Maybe it's because I'm still trying to squeeze them in to a too small a bra or maybe it's the bra is so old. Grin

I don't live anywhere near anywhere that sells bras so I have to do it all via mail order which is a royal pain.

Figaro2017 · 05/05/2017 20:50

This is brilliant! It's a nipple, through fabric that can be seen, not a clear Perspex porthole showing a foo foo with 'come and get it' tattooed across it in neon pink!

Wear what you like OP. If it makes you feel good, that's all that matters.

Dawnedlightly · 05/05/2017 21:00

Wear bright bras. There's a world of difference between a bit of grey or flesh coloured showing and magenta/ turquoise.

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 21:20

Fig 👊

Dawned - that's not a bad idea. Isn't it a bit Spice Girls though?

Although I've seen some young lasses doing it. But then everyone will be all 'look at that 40 year old with the coloured underwear.'

I would do without if your more comfortable. I'm a 32hh and have flat nipples, so jealous BiscuitBiscuit

MarcelineTheVampire · 05/05/2017 21:29

OP just wear whatever you want- if you feel okay about going bra-less go for it- forget about what anyone else is going to think. I've got the nipple plasters before and they were okay- my bikini tops are always good for certain tops too.

And to the pp's 'ewww nipples' or 'dress appropriately' - this is adding to casual sexism and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

justkeepswimmingg · 05/05/2017 21:31

Feel for you OP. My nipples are like sodding bullets too. I'd love to go bra-less, but I just end up looking like a cheap hooker (I'm sure you don't though)!

ImperialBlether · 05/05/2017 21:34

I just can't understand what you're wearing - can you post a link to the type of dress you're talking about?

ninecoronas · 05/05/2017 21:35

I have the same problem- nipples like dead men's thumbs- but I always wear a bra even when it's uncomfortably hot, because I get so tired of the looks and comments of "Are you a bit cold love? HAHA" like it's the most original joke in the world. I would like for other people not to eye a rogue nip like it's a WMD rolling down the high street.

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 21:50

Nine that made me belly laugh so hard!!

OP posts:
MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 21:51

Purple- I used to have flat nipples. I dream of them now!
