Green.

Letmesleepalready · 04/05/2017 20:00

I looked at each candidate's policies. Was surprised to see that this area's labour website had policies dated from 2013, which are fairly irrelevant nowadays as they were promising to keep the children's centres open, but they've all closed this year, so not sure how they're planning to keep that one!
Voted green in the end.

SeaWitchly · 04/05/2017 20:07

Labour

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/05/2017 20:10

I only had one vote. Surprised! 98/500 people voted by 8.00. Pitiful.

ParadiseCity · 04/05/2017 20:10

We had flyers from Labour and conservative here, and about 6 candidates to choose from.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 04/05/2017 20:10

For the first time I haven't bothered. The independent incumbent is a shoe in as he's a popular local. He's the only one who so much as put a leaflet through my door. The others are invisible so I feel I don't care.

I will vote in the GE though. Tactically.

Babyroobs · 04/05/2017 20:12

Lib Dem. He's the only local candidate who seems to be campaigning and trying to change things.

Scunnered03 · 04/05/2017 20:12

I think there will be massive apathy in my county today. Many seats are uncontested. There are no candidates for one. There have been a lot of councillors suspended recently but reasons are a bit unclear. Bad times here (Wales)

ThouShallNotPass · 04/05/2017 20:15

I voted Conservative first as they have the best likelihood of beating the SNP (lesser of two evils) in our area, then labour 2nd and 3rd. I left the independent and SNP blank.

alltouchedout · 04/05/2017 20:31

I voted in the election for a mayor of Greater Manchester- Labour first preference, Lib Dem second.

TessTube · 04/05/2017 20:33

I x Labour as he's local & does a good job.

2 x Lib Dems

TeenAndTween · 04/05/2017 20:33

How did I vote?
I went into the booth, put a cross against my preferred candidate, folded paper in half and posted it into the ballot box.

BigcatLittlecat · 04/05/2017 20:37

I voted for 1 labour as she's a local friend, 1 lib dem as she's very active locally and 2 plaid cymru. Our local council is Labour but they are not doing great.
Its very different from how I will vote in the General election.

santini · 04/05/2017 20:39

Voted Lib Dem because they actually fielded a candidate who lived locally this time (as opposed to Dubai like the last candidate).

Regretting it since the only enthusiastic candidate that has been canvassing hard in the last few weeks has been the Conservative candidate - been to my door twice in the last fortnight and have seen him out & about canvassing in town. The current elected Conservative county councillor is standing down but the Tories are obviously not sitting on their laurels. The local Conservatives have definitely been out knocking door to door. Haven't seen hide nor hair of the Labour, Lib Dem or Green candidates, one of which lives on the next street to mine. It's local politics - it does matter to get out and about, show your face and talk about local issues. DH was persuaded by my regret/reasons above to vote Conservative instead of Lib Dem which rather surprised me so we've cancelled each other out.

Will be voting Lib Dem in the forthcoming GE. I am a floating voter and have voted for Labour and the Conservatives in the past. Left/right of centre and a Remainer. We need to build up the Lib Dems to become a more effective opposition than that posed by Labour under JC.

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 04/05/2017 20:40

I voted Labour out candidate lived in our village and us very much involved and has good promises.

Igneococcus · 04/05/2017 20:40

Green, independent, independent.
The green candidate was the only one who I talked to, he had talked to dp and came back later to talk to me too. The two female SNP candidates OTOH came to the door asked for dp by name and when I said he is busy (was under the shower) but I would talk to them, they said " oooh no, that's quite alright, dear"Hmm not sure why my vote was not worth their effort.

RocknRolla · 04/05/2017 20:42

SNP

Badbadbunny · 04/05/2017 20:44

Conservative, as it's their policy to re-open the village libraries which Labour have just closed if they regain control of our county. Labour closed the libraries in the villages which voted conservative in the last county election, so it was just a matter of punishing conservative voters - they only saved £5k by closing our library as the staff were relocated to a different town and the library itself was only small so had very low overheads.

eleanorofaquitaine · 04/05/2017 20:45

Labour. Will vote tactically in the GE.

Code42 · 04/05/2017 20:55

TUSC here - not that I think we need another layer of local bureaucracy after our bent mayor instituted direct mayoral elections a few years ago: but I always vote

EastMidsMummy · 04/05/2017 21:08

I voted Labour, knowing there's not a hope in hell they'll get in.

Piratefairy78 · 04/05/2017 21:10

We live in Tory heartland. They've been the only people canvassing in the street. Their local prospective counsellor turned up at the door last week with the MP! On local issues they seem to be doing a good job. Haven't decided about next month though!

manicinsomniac · 04/05/2017 21:12

Lib Dem

Been leafleting for them over the last couple of weeks and was a teller at the polling station this evening (terrifying job)

The villages where I am are split oddly so, although I live very close to the candidate I've been supporting, I am in another guy's area who I've never met. Still voted for him but he doesn't have a hope, the area is almost solidly blue with a bit of purple. But it might be looking good for the campaign I was helping with, he was a close second in 2013.

I wish mn was a bit more representative of the general population - lib dems have done very well on this thread!

BillyButtfuck · 04/05/2017 21:13

Tory.
I was really concerned by a couple outside telling their children how they were choosing the prime minister today Hmm do some people really not know what they are voting for?
