CaoNiMartacus · 04/05/2017 17:34

Trade unionist.

BlossomCat · 04/05/2017 17:34

I actually voted green , then came out worrying that I'd wasted my vote

Notonthestairs · 04/05/2017 17:35

We had loads of leaflets from Labour and the Lib Dems. At least one a day for the last two weeks. None from the Tories (safe seat). But no door stopping which was a shame as I was ready with my questions, I love giving them a grilling.
I voted Lib Dem.

KnittingPearl · 04/05/2017 17:37

MrsKoala, polling stations close at 10pm, so plenty of time.

Tournesol · 04/05/2017 17:38

Council elections and new mayor here in Cambridgeshire. I voted Labour and delivered leaflets on their behalf and ranted at fellow school parents about the effects of Tory cuts on our schools.

Unfortunately I live in a Tory stronghold (the fuckers)

Chiliprepper · 04/05/2017 17:38

1.green 2.lib dem 3.snp 4.labour here, 3 of our five candidates are sitting councillors already. I love voting Grin

Cringiest · 04/05/2017 17:39

Lib dem and conservative which is frankly bizarre as I am usually a labour voter🤔 You'd have to know the local situation and candidates to understand.

My voting is usually who I dislike the least rather than who I like the most iykwim

I feel very disinclined to vote as it's a bit pointless where I live but I feel that it's really important to and means I'm allowed to moan later on if things are shitty

Elphame · 04/05/2017 17:40

We are having a second mayor foisted upon us. One is not enough it seems but apparently we need a West of England body with another mayor as well.

I have too much respect for those who fought for the right for women to vote not to turn up but as I don't want any of them and we do not have the option for "none of the above" I left my form blank

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 04/05/2017 17:41

Why would you even ask? Like a PP said, it's a secret ballot - it's none of anyone's business Confused

TinfoilHattie · 04/05/2017 17:41

In Scotland and it's rank in order of preference for local councillors. Choice of Independent, SNP, Labour, Tory, Lib Dem, Green. You don't have to rank all candidates.

Independent first because he lives locally and works very hard, then Lib Dem, Conservative and Labour. Did not rank Green or SNP.

When it comes to General Election in a few weeks it will be Lib Dem all the way as the candidate is the only one with a cat in hell's chance of ousting the sitting SNP MP.

Willow2017 · 04/05/2017 17:42

I have had one flyer through the door and never seen one mp canvassing for votes.
Doesnt instil me with confidence to go and vote for any of them.

GoatLePew · 04/05/2017 17:42

No voting here. Fuck, I thought I'd missed the GE when I saw the thread title. Apparently not all areas were voting today.

BoneyBackJefferson · 04/05/2017 17:44

MaroonPencil

To say they voted, to remind people that voting is secret, because its an open forum and they can.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 04/05/2017 17:45

Haven't voted. Didn't register in time.

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/05/2017 17:48

I spoiled my paper, that's how I feel about them all.

MaroonPencil · 04/05/2017 17:49

Why would you even ask? Like a PP said, it's a secret ballot - it's none of anyone's business

But it is not like OP is marching up to people in real life and demanding to know how they voted! She has put a question on a web site to which people who don't mind sharing what they voted can reply and people who don't want to don't have to.

Yes it is a secret ballot. You don't have to say for whom you voted. But you can if you want. I do not understand why people are getting so snarky about it. The OP isn't asking you specifically.

YokoReturns · 04/05/2017 17:50

LibDem

Topseyt · 04/05/2017 17:51

LibDem. Will vote for them in the General Election too.

Their candidate lives locally to us and is the only one who it seemed could be bothered to put leaflets out.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 04/05/2017 17:52

It's just an odd thing to do - if you wouldn't say it in real life, why would you ask a load of internet randomers?

Peanutbutterfingers · 04/05/2017 17:52

Just out of interest, the people who say candidate hasn't knocked your door, where I live council wards are 11k properties and MPs constituencies are 80k. Even with year round campaigning you can't speak to everyone.

And leaflets and letters rely on money for printing and volunteers to deliver.

Obviously some candidates won't be bothered, but a lot of the local politicians I know work hard and try to talk to as many people as possible. I've been told myself as an activist that they never hear from the MP, I've put a letter a month through their door for five years from him and door knocked in their street 3 times, maybe they were out but we tried!

Information is a 2 way street, you can go to community meetings, advice surgeries, hustings, even parliament to speak to your MP. You can email, phone, Facebook, tweet your local candidates, people should take some responsibility for finding information themselves.

(I voted Labour with a heavy heart for Mayor, no locals)

John4703 · 04/05/2017 17:54

In Scotland we put numbers (is it the same in England) I was
1 SNP
2 SNP
3 Green

Mrsmadevans · 04/05/2017 17:54

Labour , he was the only candidate who showed his face and canvassed door to door and I figured the general election is something totally different .

The80sweregreat · 04/05/2017 17:56

Labour.

BlackeyedSusan · 04/05/2017 17:59

I shall be walking down to the polling office and using the stubby pencil to put two crosses in the boxes

SciFiFan2015 · 04/05/2017 17:59

I voted for everyone except SNP and Conservative!
STV in local elections in Scotland
I did put in sensible order of preference
Can't remember the order though as I did it weeks ago (postal vote)
