I'm 26 and having my first one booked next week. I'm actually gutted about it as I've never needed a filling until now. My dp is 29 and has about 5. Also aibu to be so upset at needing one. Obviously I've lasted this long without needing any but I'm worried that my oral hygiene isn't good enough now!

RedHelenB · 03/05/2017 11:20

31 after three children!

Enb76 · 03/05/2017 11:20

40 here - no fillings either.

SmitheringSmithison · 03/05/2017 11:21

35 not got any yet

MrsCharlesBrandon · 03/05/2017 11:21

I had mine at age 11 i think, but it was in a milk tooth. We hang on to our first teeth for ages in our family! Since i lost it i haven't had one and i'm nearly 37.

DH's teeth are awful.

Oliversmumsarmy · 03/05/2017 11:23

None and nearly 60.

Sleepyblueocean · 03/05/2017 11:23

I had 3 as a child but none as an adult except replacements.
The dentist thought I might need one last time but then said it was where a tooth had worn down because of the position of the one above it so decided not to.

DontFeedTheTrolls · 03/05/2017 11:24

Very late 30's. Still waiting for my first.

Offler · 03/05/2017 11:25

14, it's my one and only. I'm very, very nearly 42.

alwaysthepessimist · 03/05/2017 11:28

4 and at 5 I had to have 4 teeth removed. It was awful, I still remember it and still don't like the dentist. My teeth have always been dreadful despite me looking after them, really bugs me how some people just give them a quick brush and never have a problem, I brush, floss and use mouthwash all to no avail, they just crumble and break. I have 6 teeth permanently gone at the age of 46 now.

Lemuriformes · 03/05/2017 11:29

50, and none yet.

BonfiresOfInsanity · 03/05/2017 11:33

I have a mouthful of them. Doesn't matter how well I floss and brush it feels like I have one every year including replacing existing ones. Last visit to the dentist he told me I need a filling in a tooth they filled just over a year ago. Hmm

My sister has never had a filling in her life and has a much worse diet than mine in terms of sugar.

My oldest DS (13) eats a lot of rubbish (outside of home!) and is terrible at brushing his teeth but has not a had a filling. My DS2 is 9 and has had two in his baby teeth and is so much more diligent with his teeth cleaning.

The dentist will always say its diet and teeth cleaning but I know for definite that is not the case in my family tree!

DappledThings · 03/05/2017 11:38

37, none as yet

ZeldaWasMyGransName · 03/05/2017 11:38

None until about 25, then quick succession. Recently told by my dentist that mouth bacteria is different for everyone and some people are predisposed.

Based on that don't be too disheartened that some people who are older have none!

amusedbush · 03/05/2017 11:40
  1. I'd never had so much as a scale and polish at the dentist and in the last six years I've needed two fillings, a root canal, a crown and I currently have another broken tooth that I can't afford to have a crown put on.

Both my dentist and myself are baffled. I clean my teeth twice a day with an electric toothbrush, I floss and use mouthwash. I rarely have fizzy drinks, I rarely drink alcohol, I don't smoke, I don't eat THAT many sweets (and certainly not chewy ones since I broke a tooth on a Maoam Blush). They seem to be crumbling from the inside with no warning.

Notthecarwashagain · 03/05/2017 11:43

I was about 20 Blush
I have loads of fillings, and missing teeth (attractive!) My grandma had got none left by 23 and she eats hardly any sugar.

XH is 37 and has none-and he drinks coke in the night!

Not fair!

FooFighter99 · 03/05/2017 11:53

32 - had my first one last week (it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be).

I was gutted though, to have made it 32 years and now need a filling. But it was only a very small one Grin and I have very healthy teeth and so hopefully won't be needing another one!!

snippan · 03/05/2017 11:55

Sometime at primary school. Every single one of my molars is filled. Had 2 veneers by 16. Had 3 crowns and a bridge in my thirties. And had 3 molars extracted in my forties. I'm now 52 and looking at either having to get dentures or eye-wateringly expensive implants. One filling at 26 is nothing to be worried or sad about.

MrsGsnow18 · 03/05/2017 11:56

Almost 30 and have none.

ambereeree · 03/05/2017 11:57

I don't have any fillings at 38 an neither do any of my siblings. Firmly believe good teeth are genetic- my brother was terrible at brushing his teeth and ate loads of sweets and drank fizzy pop constantly.

tinydancer88 · 03/05/2017 12:06

27 and none. My brothers don't have any and my mum only has one. I think strong teeth are genetic, because although I brush and floss I definitely eat a fair amount of sugar (several pieces of fruit a day as well as chocolate/ice cream most nights).
