I'm 26 and having my first one booked next week. I'm actually gutted about it as I've never needed a filling until now. My dp is 29 and has about 5. Also aibu to be so upset at needing one. Obviously I've lasted this long without needing any but I'm worried that my oral hygiene isn't good enough now!

JemimaMuddledUp · 03/05/2017 22:02

39, no fillings yet

Talith · 03/05/2017 22:02

42 and haven't had any. Mum had my back teeth fissure sealed as a teen and when pregnant I took advantage of free dental care to have it renewed.

Unihorn · 03/05/2017 22:02

All of my molars, I had one every few months in primary school. I also had two silver caps on my baby teeth. My brother ate far more crap than me and had none. Luck of the draw. You'll survive!

jarhead123 · 03/05/2017 22:06

14

ChocIsNotSweet · 04/05/2017 07:06

Wow it really is luck of the draw isn't it!

I'm the same age as you and have never had one.

thehousewife · 04/05/2017 07:16

37 and still none Smile

RocketPockets · 04/05/2017 07:25

15 and then one when I had my ds last year at 25. All in adult teeth even though I still have 4 baby teeth!

CheersMedea · 04/05/2017 13:46

I think a lot of it is to do with whether you grew up in an area with fluoride in the water. Most people who did + were reasonably good with oral hygiene have none or very few fillings.

Funnyonion17 · 04/05/2017 13:47

About 28

bluetongue · 04/05/2017 13:52

41 and no fillings. Definately down to luck / genetics for me as I usually only brush once ad day and don't floss. Haven't been to dentist in years ...

CheersMedea I was going to mention fluoridation as well. My area has fluoridated water.

CheersMedea · 04/05/2017 16:08

The incidence rate of fillings/cavities amongst peer groups who grew up with fluoride in the water v those who didn't is so striking that I really don't understand why this isn't done nationally everywhere.

Almost everyone I knew in a fluoride area has no fillings.

TroysMammy · 04/05/2017 16:12
  1. Too many polos eaten during my O'level exams. Second one early 20's when I cracked a tooth on granary bread.
terrylene · 04/05/2017 16:28

Loads since before I went to school. We didn't have fluoride in toothpaste until I was about ten.
I have only had fillings replaced since adult. Dentists always say that all the places likely to go are already filled. I had a root filling when on free dental care after twins which I am not sure ever needed doing. It subsequently broke and had to be redone and a post and crown put in, so not really much tooth left there.
I am really careful with cleaning and have been obsessive since I was about 14.

Whiskeywithwater · 04/05/2017 18:22

44 ... still filling free ...

ragged · 05/05/2017 14:42

I grew up in America so of course the water was fluoridated.
The water tasted Gawd-awful (Colorado River) so I drank very little tap water. Almost nobody living there drinks regular tap water... maybe when they make coffee. I drank anything else although not sodas (fizzy water, milk, fruit juice, sweet peppermint tea).
Result = mouth full of fillings. My childhood peers & extended family have lots of fillings.

tinypop4 · 05/05/2017 15:26

31 and filling free (2 children). I did get a bit of a roasting from the dentist yesterday for tartar build up though as I've not been to dentist for ages so tomorrow I'm making my first ever trip to the hygienist with my tail between my legs Blush

turbohamster · 05/05/2017 21:41

My fillings actually coincided (6 months to a year) with moving away from a fluoridated area

PlayOnWurtz · 05/05/2017 21:42

Pushing 40 and still filling free

HotelEuphoria · 05/05/2017 21:48

Probably about 11, I have lots and quite a few crowns, but my teeth look good because they are straight and I have them whitened. DH doesn't have any, we are both 50 but his teeth aren't white or straight like mine, so mine still look better.

I think.....

TitsalinaBumSquash · 05/05/2017 22:03

I'm 30, I've never needed a filling. Smile
I also only go to the dentist about once every 2-3 yrs or less, only really when something hurts (always been wisdom teeth) Blush
