I've been seeing a guy for a few months, he's about 4-5 stone overweight. It wasn't an issue at first but the amount of shit he eats puts me off him. He's a lovely guy and we really like each other.

Just an example of what he eats day to day:

Full English breakfast, kebab and chips for tea
or panini for lunch and pie and chips from the chippy
or ham egg chips for lunch, pizza for tea. All washed down with loads of squash.

AIBU to be put off by this?

NeoTrad

What I mean is that I don't need anyone else to condemn my habits. I don't need anyone else's judgement to feel any worse than I already do.

And if someone is happy with their unhealthy habits then they don't need judgement and help to 'see the light'.

I don't like doner 'meat' so now, don't want a greasy kebab. I can't abide bottled mayo, I only like it made fresh, so nope, would never want a greasy kebab slathered in mayo. Boak. It would make me sick, too.

OP - please just leave him - you aren't his mother, you don't get to dictate what he eats. It's fine for his diet to be a dealbreaker, most of us have dumped someone for far less than that.

But don't try to control what he eats, moan at him etc - you will make him miserable plus he will probably just start lying to you. if you are that keen on him, you wouldn't want him to be unhappy.

He's an adult, he can eat what he likes, even if the combined wisdom of MN says you should 'teach him to cook' etc.

My husband lives off crap - he'll eat a whole packet of biscuits in a day, he fries oven chips and has an addiction to Boost bars. It wouldn't bother me at all - except he has some kind of wild metabolism and no matter how much he eats his weight never goes above 8 stone (no thyroid issues, he's just built that way). I am deeply jealous.

I couldn't do it. I was with someone like this for a while and I spent two weeks watching him eat meat and chips every day 3 or 4 times a day, while telling me what I was eating was disgusting (fish and salad, local dishes. We just didn't fit. vegetarian bf not so much of an issue....he was much more open minded and fun about food
