I stood in the entrance of M&S for 5 minutes this morning just trying to imagine anyone who this would suit.
It's polyester as well so you couldn't even say it would be good in a heatwave.

The model in the OPs post looks like she's about to have an operation in a private hospital

Truly dreadful dress

Crunchymum · 02/05/2017 19:26

Yellowbird54321 · 02/05/2017 19:27

This thread is making me giggle Grin I saw the pink frocky horror in M&S window yesterday and it stopped me in my tracks!

HappyFlappy · 02/05/2017 19:28

You have no sense of adventure Yellowbird

The80sweregreat · 02/05/2017 19:28

Ihave, yep, wheres the pumpkin?

whathaveiforgottentoday · 02/05/2017 19:32

Ninja wife - i saw somebody wearing that jacket a couple of days ago and I couldn't stop staring and humming!

I think I may avoid shopping this year altogether looking at the offers on here.

kaputt · 02/05/2017 19:33

It doesn't seem to be on their website so I can't link but there was a dress in the window of Warehouse near oxford circus last week (and it may still be there) that I think is worse than this. Nurse blue, cold shoulder, sleeves with an amount of ruffle that would look OTT in a high school production of a swashbuckling melodrama. Then there were more ruffles and more ruffle and OH GOD WHY

An0nymous · 02/05/2017 19:35

Oh my god, I saw that dress yesterday in the M&S window on High St Ken. It literally stopped me in my tracks and I could not help noticing how people at the bus stop were also just staring - aghast. It's obviously one of their key pieces for the season. Not that I've ever bought clothes in there, but I am nevertheless astounded Shock

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 02/05/2017 19:36

Yellowbird, that is a cute dress. The other monstrosities appear to be the rejects from the Carry On films costume department.

Pettywoman · 02/05/2017 19:36

I like that dress. If styled well and with a bit of imagination it has a retro charm.

Iamastonished · 02/05/2017 19:36

I suspect that those of us who find those dresses hideous remember them the first time round, and those that like them are much younger.

I didn't wear hideous dresses like that in the 1970s, and I most definitely wouldn't now (shudder).

tethersend · 02/05/2017 19:37

I like it.

"It looks like something Margot from The Good Life would wear!"

There's no higher accolade in my book.

Iamastonished · 02/05/2017 19:39

I don't like retro. To me, it isn't retro, but lacks imagination. Somebody has said "I know let's see if we can get away with pushing the hideous fashions of the 1970s again". So anyone under 30 will think they are new and innovative. Anyone over 45 will sigh and think "I wore those first time round, what was I thinking?"

Yellowbird54321 · 02/05/2017 19:41

Thanks Loki and if only I'd had someone with me I must admit I would have at least tried it on for the lolz Happy Grin

Talith · 02/05/2017 19:43

On the plus side I bloody love Grayson Perry...

Muskey · 02/05/2017 19:46

It's horrible

noeffingidea · 02/05/2017 20:07

Iamastonished no one with any fashion sense wore clothes like these in the 70's. They were what older uncool people wore, or sometimes kids who still had their clothes bought for them by their Mams. I was a teenager in the 70's and I would not have been seen dead in any of these clothes.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/05/2017 21:12

I quite like it and would like it even more if it were shorter with some matching flares if it were a maxi dress. I loved and still love Margot dresses.

CatsRidingRollercoasters · 02/05/2017 21:24

Glory be!

maggiethemagpie · 02/05/2017 21:25

They MUST use their staff to do some of the reviews. two out of three reviewers have given it five stars..,,

Iamastonished · 02/05/2017 21:31

"I was a teenager in the 70's and I would not have been seen dead in any of these clothes."

Same here. I used to sew inserts in the bottom of my jeans to make them more flared. I was more of a hippy back then.

Littledidsheknow · 02/05/2017 21:33

Ah, the wonderful Margo! It was she who popularised the "cold shoulder" in the seventies, now also in revival!
She did it best, though.

BlueChairs · 03/05/2017 02:13

TBH my friend would look amazing in that! I sadly would look an idiot

WanderingTrolley1 · 03/05/2017 02:29

I like it. With an up-do and pointy heels, I reckon it's a good un!

Lynnm63 · 03/05/2017 02:44

Reminds me of a bridesmaids dress from the '70's.
I think the M&S buyer was either on glue or working out their notice and they've ordered a million of them 😂
