I am a fellow black poster and I 'know' creighton (she won't recognise me, I change my user name often). She can be very trenchant in her opinions, but she doesn't invent things and I don't believe for one moment she is attention-seeking or a shit stirrer.

as I said upthread, I do not listen to political speeches from any party/politician so it is not a case of needing to hear the interview through 'another voice'. I get the gist of how she 'performed', I do not have to like the vitriol offered to her.

creighton I have absolutely no doubt that there are racist thugs who say horribly racist things about DA. No doubt. But DA behaved appallingly and has absolutely no credibility left and neither has Corbyn.

See she is paid by us the tax payers to do a job. She is not delivering. It's pure arrogance and ignorance to not be fully briefed and prepared when a politician gives a public interview during one of the country's most significant election campaigns.

If you don't/won't listen to how shit she was, and how utterly incompetent & unacceptably unprepared she was, then how on earth can you surmise that posters are 'only picking on her because she's a woman of colour'.

I saw her on Piers Morgan's show and she wasn't too bad. Certainly seen worse. But on LBC she was beyond dreadful. She was shockingly poor.
But Creighton would have it that I have a specific downer on her because she is a black woman.

How can the shadow home secretary have been so unable to grasp the very basics and dig herself into such a hole? Even allowing that she may have been having a bad day her incompetence was astounding. I imagine there's a poor sod some where getting a roasting!

try reading what I posted. I said that I understand what happened. I did not say that I defend her performance in this interview.

She combines being incompetent at managing her brief with a really patronising manner. It's quite something. I think Jeremy Hunt or Liz Truss are her nearest equivalents on the opposite benches. They're also dreadful but Labour have to prove themselves to win power from the Tories and this is absolutely not the way to do it.

I soooo want her to excel. You have no idea, Creighton. It would be fantastic for an experienced woman who hasn't had much of a chance to shine to absolutely knock journalists for six and really make a strong clear case for Labour. But she doesn't do this. She just doesn't. She is more than a bit limited- she is substantively poor. Repeatedly. Publicly. Heartbreaking, really.

I don't hate DA. In fact I quite like her and admire the fact that she has kept going as an MP. DA is not being attacked because she is black or a woman. Her performance on that radio show was bloody awful. Whose fault it was I don't know. I heard there was a flurry of press briefings last night about this issue . Someone didn't give Diane a crib sheet perhaps.
Just imagine if one of the most privileged MPs of recent times George Osborne had done this he would have attracted the same derision.

I wouldn't worry about it. If the labour party has any sense, they will gently limit her exposure from now until the election and get someone else to replace her

Is this to do with the police officers question? The figure she gave meant they'd all be on something like £30 a year! Standard practice to have your answers prepared and explain how you're going to pay for all these extra things in spite of how many interviews she's already done that morning.
