Fragrant Diane, she really is the kiss of death.
My toes are still curling

Her character includes her competency in interviews. She is an experienced MP who wants to be Home Secretary. She, and the rest of the JC gang are deluding themselves on their competency.

RoseGoldProsecco · 02/05/2017 16:50

Madonna - I don't give a shite when it was. It speaks volumes about her character and her terrible judgment as a supposedly professional politician.

Her subsequent comments about her son's schooling show that the leopard didn't change its spots a few years later - or by 2012 when she made the white people divide and rule comment.

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time!"

TheFallenMadonna · 02/05/2017 16:50

I am agreeing on the competency. Or at least, the competency of the shadow front bench that she represents. She was painfully unprepared.

Bringmesunshite · 02/05/2017 16:53

She should have come to the interview ready prepared with the stats and ready to bat away a challenge. She didn't. She has been at this for years, the Tories are there for the taking. She utterly failed.

creighton · 02/05/2017 16:56

rose gold's post to me was in a standard 'you can't trust the non whites to express themselves in a civilised manner' style, thus negating the content of someone's argument. it has been written about me before on mumsnet 'maybe English isn't your first language so you don't know how to express yourself in an acceptable way' when my English is fine, I just don't pander to people if I don't want to.

I agree with foodtime and Hillfarmer even more so.

I simply don't believe that Diane Abbot is a racist. And I am no fan of hers whatsoever.

Bringmesunshite · 02/05/2017 16:58

Creighton- do you think DA gave a competent interview?

RoseGoldProsecco · 02/05/2017 17:00

No creighton. expressing yourself without using phrases like "white girls" is not "pandering". You claim to have experienced racism, so that makes it ok for you to dish it out? Really????!

I will say it again and maybe you can take a hint this time - you don't know what race any poster is unless they tell you.

Bringmesunshite · 02/05/2017 17:03

And who the hell are "the non whites" ffs?

SenseiWoo · 02/05/2017 17:05

I also don't believe that Corbyn particularly wants to win this election: he is a left-wing Eurosceptic who knows he cannot hope to deal with the fall-out within the Labour Party if they are in government and having to deliver Brexit, to which the large majority of his fellow Labour politicians are vehemently opposed.

Plus like all Trots he is more concerned with acheiving ideological purity (i.e. winning at in-fighting) than winning anything else, including power.

Bringmesunshite · 02/05/2017 17:14

Stop calling me a girl.

RoseGoldProsecco · 02/05/2017 17:21

You know what they say about assumptions, creighton. Beautifully proven here!! but you're obviously only interested in trolling, not having a serious discussion, so off you pop back under your bridge.

Sensei - absolutely. Corbyn is used to being the alternative protesting controversial rabble rouser. He wouldn't know what to do with actual power if it bit him on his arse!

Andrewofgg · 02/05/2017 17:22

I'm prejudiced against her because she could not give an intelligent answer to the questions about more police officers - how many and how much it would cost.

I'm also prejudiced against her because she has said that the first task of an incoming Labour government would be to sack all the judges and replace them with people who could be relied on.

And I cannot understand how any Labour voter cannot be prejudiced against her over her choice of her son's school. I don't care about Labour leaders ho went to public school (from Attlee to Blair) - that was not their choice, it was their parents'. And of course like other middle-class people they will do what they can to promote the education of their children. But sending them fee-paying is high-class hypocrisy, isn't it?

creighton · 02/05/2017 17:23

bring me I did not hear DA this morning as I don't really listen to politicians of any stripe. I do know that I don't like the boiling hatred that posters here have for her manifested at every opportunity

Andrewofgg · 02/05/2017 17:24

I had forgotten African mothers will do anything for their kids.

Apparently white mothers and parents of all races won't. Nice.

SenseiWoo · 02/05/2017 17:25

I wonder if Abbott is doing so much media because other Labour figures are sitting this one out and unwilling to put up with what Corbyn and Milne direct them to say?

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 02/05/2017 17:26

It is Abbotts brief. She is Shadow Home Secretary.

She is a senior Labour MP. If she can't do then she should resign from the Shadow Cabinet.

drspouse · 02/05/2017 17:29

I'm sick of the casual racism (though I'm boringly white).

Just the same as I'm sick of men saying "oh he was paying you a compliment" or "oh perhaps he didn't mean it" when builders yell at you while you are running/biking or when someone asks the only woman present to make the tea.

Andrewofgg · 02/05/2017 17:29
  • fathers of all races won't.
ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 02/05/2017 17:32

bring me I did not hear DA this morning

You didn't listen to it, but you feel the need to defend DA?

Bringmesunshite · 02/05/2017 17:34

Creighton, if you didn't hear her this morning or haven't followed the link a pp kindly provided, how can you argue that criticism of her on this isn't justified?
She was dreadful. An embarrassment.

Bejazzled · 02/05/2017 17:35

Amazing how threads about DA gather momentum regarding accusations against her detractors of racism and sexism, anyone would think it was a clever ploy to deflect the deserved focus on her utter incompetence this morning. (Not for the first time)

In my opinion, if you have made racist statements, then you are a racist, if you publicly criticise others for choosing private schooling then send your own child to a private school, you are a hypocrite and if you give interviews where you make up facts and figures as you go along, then you are clearly not up to the job you have been appointed to do.

RoseGoldProsecco · 02/05/2017 17:41

The thought of DA as Home Secretary is like a horror show.

It would only be eclipsed by the thought of corbyn as PM! He's now come out and said he's "not embarrassed" by her shitshow this morning...
