Why are the Welsh voting conservative??

I understand why most people vote it seems rational to me as a country to vote for Brexit and the conservatives particularly with Corbyn leading the Labour Party. What I am confused by is why is one of the poorest parts of Europe - Wales voting for a party that believes in entrepreneurship and less state intervention when Wales is so reliant on money from Europe and state institutions. Interested in any Welsh mums voting for Conservative party and the rational. (Not remotely about judgement or argument just totally curious).

I have no idea where you live, but first of all remember that you're voting for your local representatives, not the PM.

Soyamilkisniceintea · 30/04/2017 09:45

Yes of course I know that. And who should it be? You know the conservatives being the best of a bad bunch is utter bollocks so you obviously know who the best is. So who is it?

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 30/04/2017 09:45

Becky do you mind naming your constituency? Genuinely curious.

TIA

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 09:47

Generally, Tory policies look after one small section of society. So I hate them being in government. But not all Tories follow the party whip.

So I can't answer who would be best for your constituency, but I do know that a Tory majority will be utterly disasterous for probably 90% of the population.

Andrewofgg · 30/04/2017 09:48

In any case Titty it's more like trying another way to work which you have never tried before because you were brought up from childhood to believe it was Evil and Wrong - but you know it seems to suit a lot of people.

Soyamilkisniceintea · 30/04/2017 09:48

No, you clearly know who I should be voting for. I feel at the moment conservatives are the best of a bad bunch. So I genuinely want to know who I should be voting for. After all I talk bollocks so I can't think for myself :)

GreenGinger2 · 30/04/2017 09:49

As would a Corbyn labour maj Titty. Conservatives this time is the better of two evils.

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 09:52

I'm outta here. Clearly need to escalate to Plan B and get off this fucking crazy island that are intent on destroying any future we have. Adios and thanks for absolutely fuck all.

Soyamilkisniceintea · 30/04/2017 09:53

No answer, then.

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 09:55

Happy to help you but need to know where you are.

Soyamilkisniceintea · 30/04/2017 09:56

It shouldn't matter, because you know best who should be in government. Shropshire.

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 09:57

So not Wales then. Confused

Soyamilkisniceintea · 30/04/2017 09:58

I did say that earlier in the thread. I didn't realise that only the stupid Welsh couldn't vote Conservative. The English are trusted, then?

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 30/04/2017 10:01

It's a pity the Brexit issue is happening now because otherwise the more radical solution would be to vote Lib Dem. Neither main party gives a flying fuck about Wales in any case.

Soyamilkisniceintea · 30/04/2017 10:03

I would vote Lib. Dem in a heartbeat but I simply can't agree with them trying to steer the UK in a different decision to one that was democratically voted in. I really think trying to stop Brexit now would cause huge repercussions.

BelleTheSheepdog · 30/04/2017 10:06

One problem ATM with the you are voting for your MP not a prime minister point is that Jeremy Corbyn cannot be sacked by his mps. His huge mandate is from Labour Party members and union votes. This causes me pause for thought!

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 10:08

I simply can't agree with them trying to steer the UK in a different decision to one that was democratically voted in.

It was an opinion poll, not a democratic vote!!!!!!!

TittyGolightly · 30/04/2017 10:08

I didn't realise that only the stupid Welsh couldn't vote Conservative. The English are trusted, then?

No, but I have more awareness of the Welsh candidates than the English ones.

Soyamilkisniceintea · 30/04/2017 10:13

Titty, you know that that isn't how it works.

"We are asking you a clear question, oh, but we don't like the answer, so we will ignore it!"

No, come on. Sturgeon wouldn't have got away with it in Scotland and nor would cameron. The only thing they could have done was asked again 'are you SURE you want to leave the European Union?'

I am guessing, to answer your question for you, you feel either Labour or Lib Dem would be a better option than the Conservatives. The sad thing is I once would have agreed. Now I do not.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 30/04/2017 10:14

Well he has lost many voters there too. Tax rises to pay for all the increases.

Plus watering the magic money tree.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 30/04/2017 10:14

Ops wrong thread.

NotDavidTennant · 30/04/2017 10:16

Can I point out that we've had Conservative-led government in Westminster for the last 7 years? A vote for the Conservatives in Westminster elections clearly cannot be a vote to "try something different".

Matrons · 30/04/2017 10:16

Why is anyone voting conservative?

Soyamilkisniceintea · 30/04/2017 10:18

I think people feel May is a different leader to Cameron, David

Matrons, there are NUMEROUS threads on this!

NotDavidTennant · 30/04/2017 10:20

By that definition a vote for any party is a vote for something different, because whoever we vote for we won't be getting Cameron back again.
