Nose job booked for tomorrow. AIBU to not go?

Name changed.

I have a large nose. It's not huge but unsightly and affects the way my face looks. I've never been called ugly but I felt I would feel so much more confident without it.

I went for my consultation and discussed what I wanted. The cosmetic surgeon made some plans for me and I agreed to the procedure.

However, today I went for my pre-op appointment and the two receptionists stopped me to say they've never said this before but they genuinely thought my nose was absolutely fine and they had no idea why I was changing it.

They seemed very genuine.

Now I've got doubts about having the procedure tomorrow.

I don't hate my looks at all. It's literally just my nose. I don't have low self esteem. But maybe I'm wrong.

I know you can let me know if my nose is awful as you haven't seen it, but do you think the receptionists say that to everyone? AIBU to reconsider on the basis of their opinions?

Very random thread I know Grin

Your nose looks perfectly in proportion with your face, I wouldn't mess with it. But that's not to say you mightn't look better after the op.

ohtheholidays · 25/04/2017 22:33

Honestly please don't get it done you are very attractive and there is nothing wrong with your nose at all!

You look just like Jennifer Garner to me and she's a very attractive lady.

CinderellaRockefeller · 25/04/2017 22:34

You are very pretty. But I also get what you mean about the width of your nose.

You wouldn't be pursuing it if you didn't want it. I've had friends who have had surgery quietly and afterwards I'm not sure I can pinpoint the difference in the structure of their face, but the increase in confidence it gives them is out of this world and makes them even more gorgeous

PopcornBits · 25/04/2017 22:34

So are you just having the cartilage thinned out on both sides? I don't think this is really that much of a big procedure, it's not the bone you're taking away.
Lots of celebs have this done now as well, and I mean lots!
If it's something that truly bothers you, then do it. I say that because my teeth bothered me and I paid to have them straightened and I'm full of confidence now, I think you need to know that you're 100% though. It's not something you can change after.

But just so you know, your nose is lovely and I wish mine looked like yours :) good luck!

Redblankets · 25/04/2017 22:34

I've been trying for years to get the shape changed but doctors have all refused. This was the only doctor willing to do it

OMG ! Does this not tell you anything?
Your nose appears to be perfectly suited to your face in your photo, ridiculous to be considering this imo.

Orlandointhewilderness · 25/04/2017 22:34

You are beautiful. I'd leave well alone personally if I looked like you! You need to be 100% sure OP, even if there is 1% doubt then cancel or postpone. You can always rearrange but you need to be sure.

Freddiethefrogity · 25/04/2017 22:34

It's hard as I obviously look different in a photo to real life.

My entire face is quite 'harsh'. It's very hard and not soft but I'm not bothered about that really. It's only my nose I would like slightly changed. I don't want it dramatically different.

I think this is why I want but I'm just nervous.

Nancy91 · 25/04/2017 22:35

Yours is similar to mine and I will have a nose job in the near future. You're still gorgeous by the way but if you want it done, do it! The receptionists don't have to live with it so their opinions aren't relevant. Best of luck with whatever you choose Smile

Maudlinmaud · 25/04/2017 22:35

Nope. Surgery is forever.

Obviously it's completely your decision, most of us have got things we dislike about our features.
But you're really pretty and I think your face has so much character. Striking and very expressive. Beautiful!

Chippednailvarnishing · 25/04/2017 22:37

This was the only doctor willing to do it

Don't do it. If you have seriously been to other doctors and no one will touch it don't do it.

CurlieSue · 25/04/2017 22:37

Please please please do not have a nose job. You have a very pretty and attractive face and your nose is fine. There is nothing wrong with it. If you have a nose job, it could really drastically change your face and you might not look like you. It's not like getting a haircut, a nose job is permanent and radical and you shouldn't do it if you aren't 150% sure.

FurryLittleTwerp · 25/04/2017 22:37

I do think it worrying that all the previous doctors declined to do it. You'll always find one who'll take the fee in the end Sad

I think your nose is larger than average, but it perfectly balances your longer-than-average face.

You are very attractive with your natural nose!

MichaelSheensNextDW · 25/04/2017 22:38

I think you should pay attention to your uncertainty. They can't put it back to how it was if you don't like it.

BeaderBird · 25/04/2017 22:39

What a beautiful nose! It's lovely and so are you. It's a distinctive nose but not a big nose! You're absolutely lovely and never would I suggest you have surgery. Honestly.

UnGoogleable · 25/04/2017 22:39

I would kill for a nose like yours.

I've never understood why someone would put themselves through what must be an incredibly painful procedure, to permanently alter their appearance, and end up with something that will forever look fake - and the only justification I can come up with is that their original nose must have been causing them such terrible heartache to go through all that.

That's clearly not the case with you - you look fab. You don't need to go through all that.

And look at Jennifer Grey - permanently changed her face, and lost her character.

kali110 · 25/04/2017 22:39

I think you're beautiful op, but you're the one who has to live with it!
No amount of people saying 'there's nothing wrong with it' will change how you feel.
You need to think what you really want.
Is it just ( understandable) nerves that are making you question your decision?
If for some reason you couldn't have the op, would you forever be wishing you could?

PacificDogwod · 25/04/2017 22:40

Your nose is just fine and you look good - healthy, smiling, bright-eyed = v pretty.

Why on earth would you want to go for an operation (don't call it 'procedure', it is an operation with all the possible risks including bleeding, pain, infection, scaring, dissatisfaction with the result) that several doctors have advised you against? Did you keep seeking further opinions until somebody told you what you wanted to hear? Genuine question.

Leave your nose alone.

Justaboy · 25/04/2017 22:40

Well having had 60 odd years admiring the female form I feel qualified to comment that you look a bit of well alright to me;)!!

BeaderBird · 25/04/2017 22:40

You are beautiful! I went and had another look!

birdspooping · 25/04/2017 22:40

OP, you are beautiful. Objectively, aesthetically, from your bone structure to your features and eyes (the size and the width apart). And your your nose fits perfectly. I think they may have a point (usually I'd say go for it but I genuinely don't think you should or need it)

NotMyPenguin · 25/04/2017 22:40

Don't do it! Your face is beautifully proportioned (including your nose) and looks just right as it is.

If you cancelled the nose job tomorrow, you could always book it again in future if you felt after further reflection that you really did want the op.

MiniMum97 · 25/04/2017 22:40

I think you are beautiful and your nose suits your face. It's a lot to go through for what seems like a minor change. And what if you don't like it when it's done or, worse, it goes wrong. I hate my nose (much bigger than yours and very "Jewish") but even then the risk of it going wrong is more off putting than the chance I may have a better nose!

You have to put all your faith in the surgeon doing exactly what you want/like. I've never had a tradesman do anything exactly how I wanted it first time (am v picky!) so personally I wouldn't trust a surgeon to doubt either and I would be asleep so not there to direct proceedings!

You are beautiful. Don't risk it!!!

Rufus200 · 25/04/2017 22:40

I've had cosmetic surgery. I HATED that body part and hated myself because of it. If things had gone wrong and if I had terrible complications, I couldn't of hated that body part more than I already did. For me cosmetic surgery was the best thing I ever did. I have zero regrets about it. If you can live with yourself as you are and accept/love yourself then don't do it! Complications aren't worth it!

I found other bits to dislike each time I fixed something! I had to learn to love myself for myself. I wouldn't change anything now!
