Nose job booked for tomorrow. AIBU to not go?

Name changed.

I have a large nose. It's not huge but unsightly and affects the way my face looks. I've never been called ugly but I felt I would feel so much more confident without it.

I went for my consultation and discussed what I wanted. The cosmetic surgeon made some plans for me and I agreed to the procedure.

However, today I went for my pre-op appointment and the two receptionists stopped me to say they've never said this before but they genuinely thought my nose was absolutely fine and they had no idea why I was changing it.

They seemed very genuine.

Now I've got doubts about having the procedure tomorrow.

I don't hate my looks at all. It's literally just my nose. I don't have low self esteem. But maybe I'm wrong.

I know you can let me know if my nose is awful as you haven't seen it, but do you think the receptionists say that to everyone? AIBU to reconsider on the basis of their opinions?

Very random thread I know Grin

Gosh. No. Really? You've got a great face. A very beautiful and striking one. Your nose is lovely and entirely in proportion. TBH, for me at least, you'd be less attractive with a bland, standard Hollywood 'nice nose'.

Please. Postpone the op and have some (more) therapy or counselling before making your final decision.

Allthebubbles · 25/04/2017 22:29

I think you have a really attractive face and your nose didn't stand out/ detract from that at all. You look lovely.
I'm rubbish at visualising things but what are you hoping for afterwards? A major change or a slight adjustment?

ciele · 25/04/2017 22:29

I had a nose job and it was a good decision. I think the change in yours would be minuscule but to you might be massive. Nerves are normal beforehand but I really think you are looking for a fault that doesn't exist.
And that's something everyone used to say to me but if I was you I really wouldn't bother.

Incunabula · 25/04/2017 22:29

You have a lovely nose and it's completely in proportion with your face. Our features are also what give us character and individuality. I really would reconsider if I were you.

Aridane · 25/04/2017 22:29

I think it's fine but a bit masculine looking

HateSummer · 25/04/2017 22:29

Your nose suits your face very well. I can't see anything wrong with it.

Foldedtshirt · 25/04/2017 22:30

DON'T DO IT!
You're beautiful Flowers

Nipperknight · 25/04/2017 22:30

Lovely nose. Lovely face.

I'd leave it. Who knows what issues you may get in the future as a result of the operation.

Itshellofromme · 25/04/2017 22:30

You've posted your pic on here before haven't you op? I recognise you.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 25/04/2017 22:30

There is seriously nothing wrong with your nose!

It suits the rest of your face perfectly

IloveBanff · 25/04/2017 22:30

If that's all it takes to put you off then you can't want it enough to go through the pain, surely

Well I had a nose job about 30 yrs ago and there was no pain. Absolutely zero. What looks like bruising under the eyes after the op isn't bruising in the sense that the area ia tender, it's simply where blood has drained into cavities from the op, so no pain at all. It just gradually gets reabsorbed. Seriously, I experienced no pain at any time from the operation until full recovery. Yes, you will be swollen, but it's not tender or painful swelling. I was very happy with the result and don't regret a thing.

Fauchelevent · 25/04/2017 22:30

God if you don't go I'll happily take your slot. I hate my schnoz.

More importantly, I think you need more time. Lots of people tell me there is nothing wrong with my nose, and they have never noticed it, but I have and I would like the procedure for my benefit. Are you doing it for your benefit or because others have said they don't like it? It has to only be for your benefit.

Justaboy · 25/04/2017 22:31

Looks fine whatever are you on about?.

I'll never understand women and how they perceive themselves - ever;!

heebiejeebie · 25/04/2017 22:31

You have strong features - beautiful eyes, large lips, a straight nose. I would hazard a guess that it's easier to focus your insecurities into a cm at the end of your nose than it is to work on self acceptance.

If you're not sure then postpone. If you had a cough or a cold you would have to call it off for now. If you're not certain that you want to have a bit of yourself snipped off tomorrow morning then for goodness sake put the brakes on until you are sure.

MrsLettuce · 25/04/2017 22:31

X post. CANCEL. Wtf? If you've repeatedly refused surgery by reputable surgeons? surely that says everything?

ImLadybird · 25/04/2017 22:31

I think you're beautiful and only came on here to tell you. If I didn't think it I would have scrolled on! I think your face is perfectly in proportion.

I'd consider this a lucky warning and back out. If this is the only doctor who agreed to do it when others didn't, I'd be concerned.

Pebbles1989 · 25/04/2017 22:31

People said the same to me, and (no offence) my original nose looked nicer than yours.

I am still delighted with it, despite the fact that it's not 100% symmetrical, and don't regret it one bit.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 25/04/2017 22:31

Maybe the fact that this is the only doctor willing to fo it should tell you something..

Allthebubbles · 25/04/2017 22:31

Just read your update- the only doctor willing to do it part sounds worrying to me. What is his/ her general reputation?

I can see no gain for the receptionists in saying this either.

Foldedtshirt · 25/04/2017 22:31

If I was describing you, your nose would be about the 10th thing I'd mention and even then as 'erm, nice and straight, normal'

Truckingalong · 25/04/2017 22:32

Have you seen the amazing work that can be done with fillers now for noses. Maybe consider that first. You'll have cancellation fees surely at such short notice but better than going ahead with the procedure if you're not totally sure. For what it's worth, you look lovely in the photo but this really shouldn't be about what a load of random strangers think of you.

Crashbangwhatausername · 25/04/2017 22:32

I'm really shocked you've convinced yourself you need a nose job, before seeing the picture I thought you might have something wrong with it but not enough to warrant surgery, your nose is fine I would at least postpone. And I say that as someone who really believes if something aesthetic makes you unhappy you should change it if you are doing it for the right reasons

OhForFrigSake · 25/04/2017 22:32

I don't usually post but have to say you're beautiful OP and your nose looks perfect.

Do what you want to but I personally don't see how it could be improved!

BanjaxedFecker · 25/04/2017 22:32

Take one from the side and stick it up, and you will get some honest responses, but, oh my, you're very pretty indeed, can't see why you would need one.

Pebbles1989 · 25/04/2017 22:32

And yes, it was painful, but worth it.
