Oh and washing is 3 or 4 loads on a Fri Eve/Sat am so DH can do the ironing in front of Saturday footie :)

PuppyMonkey · 23/04/2017 13:55

You can wash sofa covers? Grin Shock

WorraLiberty · 23/04/2017 13:55

But ultimately the OP think it's ok, so therefore it's ok.

Unless there's going to be a massive drip feed, I'm not sure what the problem is?

NannyR · 23/04/2017 13:56

Another one who's never cleaned their door handles. I've also never washed my sofa covers (sofa is five years old, dark coloured and only me using it though). Windows get done every couple of months.
It does seem a lot to do on a weekly/daily basis but if you're not working full time and enjoy housework then no problem.

RJnomore1 · 23/04/2017 13:56

That's probably as much housework as I do in a month.

Op is it impacting on you being able to do other things?

Astro55 · 23/04/2017 13:56

Way over the top

NapQueen · 23/04/2017 13:56

Is that a daily list for every day? Or a list of what you do across a week?

YrHenGi · 23/04/2017 13:58

Does your DH feel that you're spending time on your hands and knees cleaning carpets that you could be enjoying with your family? And does he mean you might need help, as in a cleaner, or help as in a psychiatrist?

phoenixtherabbit · 23/04/2017 13:58

I think what you do is fine if you're happy with it.

I clean door handles - hands touch them and hands can be germy!

SaucyJack · 23/04/2017 13:58

What would you be doing with your time if you weren't cleaning?

Are you prioritising it over family time?

MarklahMarklah · 23/04/2017 13:58

I've never cleaned a door handle either.
I hoover twice a week.
Sofa covers were washed about a year ago.

To be fair, I hate housework.

PuppyMonkey · 23/04/2017 13:59

OP won't come back to thread as she'll be cleaning her door handles.

FiveShelties · 23/04/2017 13:59

Go on my hands and knees at night to wipe up any marks of the carpetx3

Who/what is making all these marks on the carpets, every day? I would be tackling the cause rather than get down on my hands and knees to clean three carpets every night.

SaveMeBarry · 23/04/2017 13:59

Well certainly some of it seems a bit unnecessary but as Worra points out it looks more when written as a list.

I can't see why sofa and cushion covers would be washed weekly, I mean even with toddlers you'd surely sit them at the table or on a blanket on the floor?

Whatever you're into Op but the getting on my hands and knees to wipe the carpet has a slight whiff of martyrdom about it. How do you think other people wipe floors/carpet?

I'm sure there are more enjoyable ways you could be spending your time on if you wanted to!

CaraCranky · 23/04/2017 13:59

I don't know if you do too much or not but I know I do too little! I'm a slob in the house but really want to up my game a bit.

PlymouthMaid1 · 23/04/2017 14:00

So long as you do it all in a pretty short space of time I think your list is OK but if if is eaten up hours every day than you have a problem.

GinIsIn · 23/04/2017 14:00

You hoover twice a day then spot clean the carpet three times a day? How dirty are your carpets?! No - it's not normal and if that's a serious list, are you a generally anxious person? How long do you spend cleaning each day?

onalongsabbatical · 23/04/2017 14:00

How many children, ages? Door handles could be covered in jam, for all we know.
Pets? Pet hair makes massive difference.
Does DH mean you need help with the housework, or that he thinks you need help because you have some kind of OCD?

bigmac4me · 23/04/2017 14:00

Nope, don't think I have ever cleaned a door handle either.

soundsystem · 23/04/2017 14:01

Another one who has never cleaned a for handle...

It's a lot more than I do, but it's not crazily excessive.

Ginger782 · 23/04/2017 14:01

Hasn't mopped the floor in 2 months. Slowly backs out of thread...leaving a trail of biscuit crumbs...

TaliDiNozzo · 23/04/2017 14:03

Twice a day hoovering is excessive I think, along with the other carpet cleaning.

Does DH think you need help as in a cleaner or is he worried you are anxious etc?

d270r0 · 23/04/2017 14:04

I wouldn't bother with hoovering twice a day!? Or things like cleaning door handles. I do send my roomba round downstairs every day but thats because its so easy. Before I had the roomba I only hoovered once or twice a week.

obviouslymarvellous · 23/04/2017 14:04

The hoovering twice a day is excessive if you mean a full house Hoover but if you mean you pickup bits with a handheld dyson or similar then yes that's perfectly normal.
I do washing everyday floors steamed/hoovered due to dog and children and I clean bathrooms every day. I wipe down leather sofa once a week so I don't think it's too much tbh

WorraLiberty · 23/04/2017 14:06

Is this going to be one of those annoying threads where the OP returns hours later, to 100+ posts of questions/speculation? Grin
