Aibu to think that Carole Middleton went out of her way to marry off Kate & Pippa to royalty & society millionaires?? Wills & James Matthews are hardly oil paintings, would the girls look at them twice if they worked in Tesco? Reading about Pippa's wedding tonight & it seems the sisters were both quite the social climbers in Marlborough which was encouraged by their mother? I have friends in similar circles & it seems they are very hard to break into if you are not "old money/landed gentry types" so I think Carole achieved what she set out to do! Roll on Pippa's wedding, looking forward to seeing the dress!

I hope Megan knows what she's doing. I suspect life as a British Royal could be decidedly unglamorous, cold country houses smelling of damp dog and Prince Andrew groping your arse any chance he gets. She'll soon be pining for her Hollywood condo.

MrsJamesMathews · 20/04/2017 00:04

I want to know which country house the Queen / Prince Charles will give them and what their title will be.

Wellysocksbox · 20/04/2017 00:07

They'll be the Duke and Duchess of Earl.

ilikespaghetti · 20/04/2017 00:08

Mrs James Matthews, that is a very good point a Sept announcement could well be in the pipeworks to take spotlight off little George starting school in Battersea

MommaGee · 20/04/2017 00:13

I wonder if they'll have babies. I could imagine Harry with a house full of babies. I could imagine Pippa with her mother and a Nanny or two

Theycalledmethewildrose · 20/04/2017 00:22

I wonder if Harry would live in the US for six months of the year while Megan is 'filming' type of thing? They might be like George Clooney and Amal. I can't imagine she will give up acting.

MrsJamesMathews · 20/04/2017 00:37

Oh of course she'll give up acting. She already has - just filming her last contracted Suits season.

Apartment number 9 at Kensington Palace is being refurbed for them as we speak.

They'll be based in London, just like the Cambridges will be after the summer.

I don't know any of this as fact btw.

MrsJamesMathews · 20/04/2017 00:40

Or... a September announcement will flood Google meaning the new/last season of Suits will be harder to find when googling Meghan.

Jason Knauf should give me a job

I imagine the life of the wife of Prince Harry would be quite, quite different.

I suspect if they marry, they will live 6 months a year in Canada. I know I would if I were him.

soupdragon what is the state education system getting away with? confused

A PP was bemoaning the fact that it is appalling in this day and age to exclude a person from marrying a royal on the basis of their religion. They asked what other institution would get away with it. The answer is state education (although in that case it is more common to be non-Catholics who are exluded)

savedbythebell · 20/04/2017 06:50

soupdragon who and what are they excluded from though?

SoupDragon · 20/04/2017 06:59
Confused
SoupDragon · 20/04/2017 07:01

Try getting into a state funded catholic school near me when you aren't catholic. They might cla not to exclude non Catholics but they are still excluded.

Anyway, it's irrelevant here. A Pp was loudly declaring the exclusion of Catholics from marrying the royal heir was abhorrent and that no one else would get away with it. I just pointed out that faith schools get away with it on a regular basis.

derxa · 20/04/2017 07:12

future king of England I wish people would stop saying this. It's still the United Kingdom

savedbythebell · 20/04/2017 07:12

thedowager what on earth are you talking about, you're saying the monarch shouldn't be able to marry a catholic because she's the head of the church of England, so bloody what, what difference should that make, good job you don't make the rules then because they've had to repeal that ridiculous rule. What bizarre thinking. Confused

savedbythebell · 20/04/2017 07:17

soupdragon that's not the same, there isn't a rule set in stone that non catholics can't get into a catholic school. many do.

LordRothermereBlackshirtCunt · 20/04/2017 07:26

It amuses me that Kate will be related by marriage to Spencer Matthews. I wonder if that's why she's reportedly not going to be matron of honour - she'd have to walk back down the aisle with him after the ceremony!

RitaFrankLynne · 20/04/2017 07:41

The Duke and Duchess of Hazzard

Ceto · 20/04/2017 07:51

saved, you referred to blatant discrimination. There are undoubtedly plenty of church schools where the priority rules are set in such a way that your chances of getting your child in if you are not a practising member of the church are close to nil; the fact that there are a few church schools where that does not apply doesn't change that fact. So soup dragon is correct.

MommaGee · 20/04/2017 08:22

Its a shame they felt Kate shouldn't be MOH

SoupDragon · 20/04/2017 08:28

soupdragon that's not the same, there isn't a rule set in stone that non catholics can't get into a catholic school. many do.

And many many many can't. It is discriminating on the basis of religion in the same way not allowing a catholic to marry the future UK sovereign.

Are you catholic?

0live · 20/04/2017 08:29

Where I live, children applying to state funded RC schools have to have a RC baptism certificate .

RC children can apply to all schools.

AwaywiththePixies27 · 20/04/2017 08:36

The Catholic school is the only good school out of several for miles here is that sought after you can't even get in when you are catholic! Grin DD was baptised, her Dad still goes to mass and it was still a no.

SoupDragon · 20/04/2017 09:11

there isn't a rule set in stone that non catholics can't get into a catholic school

There also is no rule whatsoever about someone in the line of succession for the UK throne marrying a catholic.

bigmack · 20/04/2017 09:16

'RC children can apply to all schools.'

Apart from other faith schools with the same criteria!
