Who to vote for in General Election?

Aargh.

Would normally vote for Lib Dems (feel like I should apologise for this!), and voted for them in the last two elections. In an ideal world, I'd vote for them or Labour, but I'm not keen on Jeremy Corbyn's (or Tim Farron's) leadership. Really don't want to vote Conservative.

Wondering perhaps about voting for the Women's Equality Party? They seem pretty good, but are still quite a small party.

What does everyone else think?

Lib dems for me.

I'll be voting Conservative, am a candidate for the upcoming local elections and an activist for the forthcoming General Election and I look forward to a thumping majority come May 9th!

(Tactical non-Tory tactics usually fail as most people vote the way they always vote but, nice try!)

:-)

I'm a pro-European centrist in a Tory/Labour marginal. Neither of those options appeals much, but as a teacher married to a GP I'll vote Labour.

The thought of what the Tories will do to the education and healthcare systems over the next five years, while we're all looking elsewhere at the Brexit negotiations genuinely makes me feel nauseous.

Livelovebehappy · 19/04/2017 15:13

What's the point of voting tactically? You might stop the party you like the least getting in, but at what cost? You're just going to get someone else in who you might also dislike, but to a lesser degree. I would only vote for the party who represented most of the ideals I agree with, and if there wasn't a party who did, then I just wouldn't bother voting at all. You're selling out doing anything else.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 19/04/2017 15:21

lesser of the evils for me but no idea which one that is atm.

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 19/04/2017 15:23

Thanks user1490 - so nicely put Hmm

Livelovebehappy - any party that keeps the Tories out is a good party to vote for, obviously not UKIP. The problem is that the leftist vote will be split between Labour and the Lib Dems.

The left need to organise and get behind one party in order to stand a chance. I vote Lib Dems because they want brexit the least. All remainers should be voting for them.

howabout · 19/04/2017 17:04

Apparently the LibDems are not ruling out a Con coalition but they have ruled out a Labour one if that concentrates the anyone but Tory thinking.

NameChanger22 · 19/04/2017 17:11

Do you have a source for that? I very much doubt it's true.

PerkingFaintly · 19/04/2017 17:11

Can you link to a source for that, howabout?

As you say, it will be important for some people - so best to have it from the horse's mouth than as a mere rumour.

StillLostDaddy · 19/04/2017 17:12

Hang on a minute...there's going to be another General Election????? How have I missed this?!

Yorkshirebetty · 19/04/2017 17:13

Maybe she's just trying to get ideas. Sometimes a bunch of strangers can be helpful, which is surely the point of mumsnet!!

informedchoice · 19/04/2017 17:39

You must have been living under a stone Still.

Don't worry, nothing will change expect for the Tories might pick up some extra seats.

informedchoice · 19/04/2017 17:39

Except*

NameChanger22 · 19/04/2017 18:01

Well, let's really hope you're wrong about that.

informedchoice · 19/04/2017 18:28

Don't forget how left wing MN tends to be. The general consensus on here was wrong for the GE in 2015 and the EU Ref.

SherlockPotter · 19/04/2017 19:16

I wish people would stop with the guilt tripping (on twitter), I'm not voting tactically... bugger off!

MycatsaPirate · 19/04/2017 19:57

What concerns me is this.

Did TM even ask David Dimbleby if he was free on 8th June? Did she?

What if he's on holiday ffs??

Just not Tory - if you value the NHS and don't want us to loose everything through hard brexit.

Still you are joking aren't you?

MooMooKerchu · 19/04/2017 21:48

I'm going to wait for the manifesto's to come out, have a little side-by-side review and then decide but I am a historical Tory voter.

I'm not up for Corbyn at all - but I'm going to try and assess what everyone is standing for before I make a final decision.

howabout · 19/04/2017 22:20

Perking LBC radio interview today with Tim Farron. I assume he's going after the Con/Lib marginals in London. Lots of Con whispering about voting Con to give enough mandate to mitigate hard Brexit to appeal to the same constituencies. Probably zero sum game. Anyway main message is definitely ruled out coalition with Labour - source was Ming on BBC4 but not heard any contradiction.
