Who to vote for in General Election?

Aargh.

Would normally vote for Lib Dems (feel like I should apologise for this!), and voted for them in the last two elections. In an ideal world, I'd vote for them or Labour, but I'm not keen on Jeremy Corbyn's (or Tim Farron's) leadership. Really don't want to vote Conservative.

Wondering perhaps about voting for the Women's Equality Party? They seem pretty good, but are still quite a small party.

What does everyone else think?

And nobody else is eligible to vote in his place, unfortunately.

I'm eligible to vote and could vote for NameChanger's friend's preference if I wanted to.

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 19/04/2017 01:31

Name where is your friend from, out of interest?

I might ask all my American friends who they want in Govt in the U.K. and then get a load of proxy votes for them - I know people who don't bother voting so that's fine Hmm

NameChanger22 · 19/04/2017 01:31

I'm encouraging my friend to canvass all over the internet.

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 19/04/2017 01:32

Erm good luck with that Confused

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 19/04/2017 01:32

How will he know that people have voted for his preferred party anyway?

OP posts:
Willow2017 · 19/04/2017 01:32

But she isnt canvassing for any party. She is just mentioning here friends preference. No canvassing occuring, no policies, nothing about any one mp, nothing.

If she came to my door and spoke about my local lib dem candidate then fine, otherwise its just asking people maybe 100s to vote for a party of her friends chosing. No other reason. And she is criticising how elections are run?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/04/2017 01:33

Not Well do it then - you aren't eligible to vote by proxy for him but don't let a little thing like that bother you. I'm sure everyone will think you are great

MyCatShatInAHat · 19/04/2017 01:33

And then we can ask 'how much are you willing to pay etc etc' and where will it end? Surely you can see it isn't right?

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 19/04/2017 01:33

Is it too early for election trolls? What does everyone else think about Name? Troll or not?

OP posts:
LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/04/2017 01:34

Yup it's full tinfoil hat territory - everyone is corrupt but voting by proxy for a mysterious citizen/non citizen is fine Grin

NameChanger22 · 19/04/2017 01:35

I vote that I'm not a troll.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/04/2017 01:35

Tbf I'm only awake because I have insomnia - this is hilarious and scary at the same time Grin

NotDavidTennant · 19/04/2017 01:36

The whole principle of a free vote is that you can choose to vote for any reason you see fit: whether because you like the candidate's hairstyle, or because the party's name makes a pleasing anagram, or because somebody's friend wants you to vote a certain way.

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 19/04/2017 01:36

Er well yeah... you would obviously say you're not a troll Name 😂 Jesus, this is surreal.

OP posts:
LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/04/2017 01:36

Shouldn't you be off canvassing the entire internet Name - I'm surprised you are still here

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/04/2017 01:37

Op - I bet you are glad you started this thread Grin

Willow2017 · 19/04/2017 01:38

I'm encouraging my friend to canvass all over the internet.

I hope he has a better argument than you have put so far.
Neither of you will ever know if even one person has 'voted for him' anyway its ridiculous.

And if he isnt legally entitled to vote then he isnt end of, he cant be not entitled and entitled at the same time. Makes no sense whatsoever. If he hasnt become a citizen that it, thats the law. If he has been living and working here for years why hasnt he applied for citizenship if he is so concerned with voting?

MyCatShatInAHat · 19/04/2017 01:44

Oh bugger, have I been sucked in? Well in my defence I am on my second bottle of wine Grin

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/04/2017 01:44

MyCat Grin Sadly I don't think it's a troll - it's more scary that it isn't Grin

MyCatShatInAHat · 19/04/2017 01:52

Bloody hell Livia I could do with a grand right now!

CeriBerry · 19/04/2017 12:03

Ignoring the complete derailing of the thread that has happened, I think i'll most probably vote for Plaid.

Applebite · 19/04/2017 12:16

It's like being asked to choose between permanent constipation and permanent diarrhoea :(

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 14:10

My first thought on waking today was 'I wish I could sleep through till the 9th of June', then it'll be results day. I would love a Portillo moment for at least 2 of May's cabinet. I don't mind who really, but David Davis would be braw.

AuldHeathen · 19/04/2017 14:15

aargh, my first wrong-thread momentBlush. Should be on Whose smug git face would you most like to see losing?
