Who to vote for in General Election?

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 18/04/2017 12:20

Aargh.

Would normally vote for Lib Dems (feel like I should apologise for this!), and voted for them in the last two elections. In an ideal world, I'd vote for them or Labour, but I'm not keen on Jeremy Corbyn's (or Tim Farron's) leadership. Really don't want to vote Conservative.

Wondering perhaps about voting for the Women's Equality Party? They seem pretty good, but are still quite a small party.

What does everyone else think?

My constituency has been Tory since the seat began. Usually 50% vote Tory.
No hope of a tactical vote here.

wasonthelist · 18/04/2017 12:46

But what if that's ukip?

It won't be.

PurpleDaisies · 18/04/2017 12:47

I'll be voting Lib dem again but I've moved from a safe labour to a safe Tory seat so it won't make a blind bit of difference.

MrsGlam · 18/04/2017 12:50

Hoping to vote tactically this time..We are in a conservative area but it's worth a shot! How do I find out the results for the last few elections to work out who might have a chance!

EatsShitAndLeaves · 18/04/2017 12:52

I'll be tactically voting LibDem.

I'm in a Tory seat ATM with no chance for Labour in its current state.

So even as a Labour Member they won't get my vote under JC.

Bolshybookworm · 18/04/2017 12:53

I'll be voting to oust our Tory mp. He's a gigantic boil on the arse of humanity. It's likely to be for a labour candidate which I'd rather not do because I can't stand Corbyn, but worth it to get rid of our embarrassment of an MP.

MrsGlam · 18/04/2017 12:53

Found it looks like a tall order for the library fems in our area but here's hoping!

ChocolateSherberts2017 · 18/04/2017 12:53

It's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't so you may as well do as you damned well please, which doesn't bode well for the country. Derek I have no idea.

ChocolateSherberts2017 · 18/04/2017 12:54

Where the hell did Derek come from? Bloody auto correct.

TinfoilHattie · 18/04/2017 12:54

I will be voting hugely tactically. Anything I can do to get my SNP MP out of parliament. That will probably mean Lib Dem, could be COnservative.

I don't buy into this "Tories torture kittens and roast babies alive" mantra, it's very lazy and one-dimensional. Tories also stand up wholeheartedly for Scotland as part of the UK and that is a massively important point in their favour for a lot of us north of the border.

muckypup73 · 18/04/2017 12:55

I would like to vote Snp but unforunately they dont put them on the ballot papers here!!!

TheNaze73 · 18/04/2017 12:56

Recent opinion polls suggest a 21 point conservative lead at the moment. Over the years, this would be a massive opportunity for the opposition to make huge gains. Can't see Labour doing this. The LibDems will be the threat to the PM

itsacatastrophe · 18/04/2017 12:57

Very safe Tory seat but we can hope, probably vote labour, just to get the tories and endless cuts out

LadyPW · 18/04/2017 12:57

If you can't make up your own mind on who to vote for you probably shouldn't be voting at all....

HoldBackTheRain · 18/04/2017 12:57

Jeremy Corbyn gets my vote.

Bolshybookworm · 18/04/2017 12:58

Well the actions of the tories are putting the industry I work in at risk meaning significant job losses after Brexit. That's enough for me. They have also trashed the education system and brought the NHS to its knees in the space of two years. Even though I will personally benefit from some of their policies (30 hrs free childcare), they have done a bloody terrible job in government (universal credit, anyone? Bedroom tax? BREXIT?!) and have split the country in two. They'd have to perform a bloody miracle for me to ever think about voting for them tbh.

dailystuck71 · 18/04/2017 12:59

I am stuck. I won't vote for the poison that is Nicola Sturgeon.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/04/2017 12:59

I'm in a very safe Tory seat. I'll be voting Lib Dem, I did waver towards Jeremy Corbyn at one point, but the wish washy hash he made of the Brexit vote and his lack of conviction about anything means I can't vote for him.

Whenever I do those online who should I vote for I end up with the Greens as being my natural home, but I don't think they have robust enough leaders to cope at the moment.

HatHen · 18/04/2017 13:01

Exactly as Ifailed said:
you vote for whichever candidate stands the best chance of winning who isn't a tory

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 18/04/2017 13:02

Ahh - I thought I had it all worked out, but I don't think I do anymore. My head's saying, vote for Labour (safe Labour seat, Harriet Harman is local Labour MP), but my heart's saying to vote for the Lib Dems.

I've always voted Lib Dem so far, and I 100% agree with all of their policies on Europe which, for me, I think is the most important issue. That and mental health, which the Lib Dems have been quite vocal about. I really want us to get a good and fair deal on the EU, and I think the Lib Dems have a chance of giving us that.

I just don't know if I'm effectively throwing a vote away or giving a vote to the Conservatives by voting Lib Dems, as the LDs don't really have a presence in my constituency, which is a safe Labour seat.

Any suggestions about what to do?

OP posts:
JennyOnAPlate · 18/04/2017 13:02

I'm in a very safe labour seat so will probably vote labour. I usually vote lib dem but I almost feel like that would be a wasted vote.

MyschoolMyrules · 18/04/2017 13:05

I honestly will vote for whoever will have a chance to be elected against Tory. But not if it's UKIP. In my case it's labour, so I will vote labour although I would ideally vote green.

I have voted strategically in all elections since I can vote in the U.K.

HPFA · 18/04/2017 13:05

Can I just say - all those people planning to vote tactically - can you do a little bit to help the party you are planning to vote for. Contact them so you can have a poster or board to set up, shove leaflets through doors, door knock if you can bear to.

One possible worry for the Tories is complacency. If everyone assumes they are going to win then it could lead to a bit of laziness from their supporters. So worth doing that little bit extra.

Cantseethewoods · 18/04/2017 13:05

OP I doesn't really matter what you vote because HH's seat is super safe, so if you're pissed off with JC, you may as well just vote Lib Dem and be happy your views have at least registered.

dailystuck71 · 18/04/2017 13:07

Tinfoil, I'll be doing the same. Anything to shift SNP. I'll need to vote Conservative though. SNP didn't win by much last time.
