We were out this eve, but not esp late (home by 10:30). DD has brought mates back. We know some not all.

They've been drinking booze I've provided (but was supposed to be more than one evening).

DD is 15, yr 10.

One of the kids chucked up. She's fine. She was here on a sleepover,m her parents aware. I know where she lives (20 mins away) but don't know her parents or how to contact them.

I've put her to bed, on her front. Sick bucket and water easily to hand.

What should I do?

OP posts:
Orlantina · 09/04/2017 12:23

I was accused of not believing it simply because I asked for a link for sample size

I wonder if there is a link between people asking for sample size and them being surprised at the data they were given because it contradicts their view?

Or do you always ask for a sample size and source when ever people post any data?

mowgeli · 09/04/2017 12:25

Ok but we shouldn't do apologies with T&CS apply. You either do or you don't.

And Orla it's all coming out as though you are trying to frustrate people too

StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2017 12:25

I notice I've never been asked to subsequent meet ups ;)

Orlantina · 09/04/2017 12:27

Generally when people ask for sample size, it's because they are sceptical about a survey as it contradicts their own view.

I am not sure if people would ask for sample size if someone posted something that confirms their world view.

hmcAsWas · 09/04/2017 12:29

"HMC, calling my opinion stupid and ridiculous doesn't make me want to discuss it with you. We clearly have different values"

RhiWhite - you earned a robust response when you dismissed posters who disagree with Y10's drinking alcohol as 'performance parenting'

Nojellyintrifle · 09/04/2017 12:30

What view?

I haven't posted a view?

I was surprised and interested as to whether it was self reporting. Which is a whole other area.

I would like to discuss that but no doubt would get grief again.

It's interesting to me. The people that I work with and employ will often have robust discussions about it.

The only view that I have offered on this thread is that calling the police in is idiotic and that I would not be happy for a 15yo to drink.

Nojellyintrifle · 09/04/2017 12:32

I can confirm that I was genuinely interested.
It confirms your view though doesn't it?

Is that why you keep returning to why I asked?

Orlantina · 09/04/2017 12:32

I was surprised and interested as to whether it was self reporting

If you were surprised, doesn't that mean that the data presented was different to the view you had on the level of teenage drinking?

VeryButchyRestingFace · 09/04/2017 12:34

In the OP's position, I'd be absolutely petrified of a visit from the long arm of the law.

Supplies someone else's underage kid with enough alcohol to get shitfaced on, then buggers off out for the evening and leaves them to it.

🙄

Nojellyintrifle · 09/04/2017 12:37

Surprised at the stats yes. Is that okay with you Orla? Are you going to keep on down this road now?

It was quite nice that the thread took a more amicable turn earlier.

Nojellyintrifle · 09/04/2017 12:38

Or do you always ask for a sample size and source when ever people post any data?

Yes, pretty much. It's a bugbear of mine.

ThatIsNachoCheese · 09/04/2017 12:39

I haven't read the entire thread, but I wanted to comment.
It is entirely up to ME whether I allow my children to have some alcohol. My dd is 17 and has had friends round when there has been alcohol. I have provided my dd with a small amount but never someone else's child. It's not your decision to make, and I think you've really fucked up here.
Woman up and admit it, and for fucks sake don't provide alcohol for other people's children again.

ThatIsNachoCheese · 09/04/2017 12:41

Just to clarify, I meant when dd was younger. Her and her friends tend to go out now so I'm not in that position anymore.
Still wouldn't provide alcohol for any of her friends if they were under 18.

smallchanceofrain · 09/04/2017 12:41

This thread reminds me of when my neighbour had a party for her 15 year old. In the early hours of the morning she had a load of teenagers trashing her house while she screamed at them for disrespecting her after she had bought them a load of booze. Hmm
I think it's sad that young people having a social life equates to drinking. I have a 15 year old and there is no way I would provide his friends with alcohol.

SideOrderofSprouts · 09/04/2017 12:41

Stealth I've been around since poo pouffe. I post a lot in the Christmas
Board. You are who you say you are.

Nojellyintrifle · 09/04/2017 12:43

SideOrderofSprouts

I did apologise but you might have missed it, it's a long thread.

StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2017 12:43

Thanks sprouts. Lol at poo pouffe. I joined just before the long thread about stealing shampoo from hotel rooms iirc. And carlk.

Orlantina · 09/04/2017 12:44

Surprised at the stats yes

The more recent paper I linked to shows that teenage drinking is on the decrease. But that teenagers still drink.

5% of both boys and girls aged 13 to 15 reported drinking alcohol in the last seven days, more than reported usually drinking at least weekly. These children were asked about the types of drinks and how much they had drunk. Boys were most likely to mention beer, lager, cider or shandy; boys were more likely than girls to have drunk
these (5% and 3% respectively).

Among girls similar proportions (2% to 3%) also mentioned alcopops, wine or spirits and liqueurs. Consumption of each type of
alcoholic drink increased with age

Another way of looking at this is that 95% of 13 - 15 year olds DO NOT drink (although this figure may be lower due to survey issues)

StealthPolarBear · 09/04/2017 12:44

I have no idea if poo pouffe was before or after. I either mise it or it was before my time. Plus I get it confused with cube of poo and rivers of sweetcorn.
Anyway. ..back to my lunch.

KingPrawnOkay · 09/04/2017 12:50

Underage kids don't need alcohol. A social life is important but if she thinks she needs alcohol to have fun or fit in then she needs new friends. I didn't have a drop of alcohol until I was nearly nineteen and my parents would have rather died than bought me alcohol. I know I was in the minority but I am a bit confused as to why you bought drinks for fifteen year olds.

SideOrderofSprouts · 09/04/2017 12:51

Sorry jelly. My bad

DingDongtheWitchIsDangDiddlyDe · 09/04/2017 12:54

done parenting classes, thanks. Also deliver them

Fuck me I hope thats not true.

frumpet · 09/04/2017 12:56

9 children , 4 beers and 2 ciders .

DingDongtheWitchIsDangDiddlyDe · 09/04/2017 12:59

And the rest.

LIZS · 09/04/2017 13:03

I read it as each being the large 2l bottles. That would be plenty to get 9 the worse for wear.
