Potato waffles in the toaster?

Sorry I didn't know where to post but..

Found this out when my friend and I came home pissed and I watched her fly some in the toaster in awe. How have I never known this?
Toasted once on defrost, once on normal. Took 4 minutes. I feel like my life has been completely changed. Grin

Waffles in a toaster I have done. I used to do burgers in the toaster too

UppityHumpty · 08/04/2017 18:41

Waffles, fish fingers, burgers, toasted sandwiches, anything can be made in the toaster if you're motivated enough.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 08/04/2017 18:42

Pfft only way I've ever done them! DH insists on grilling them which irrationally irritates me but never mind.

BikeRunSki · 08/04/2017 18:43

Scrambled eggs in a toaster bag (carefully).

EatSpamAmandaLamb · 08/04/2017 18:52

Radiator quesadillas will change your life

Witchcraft!

Pestilentialone · 08/04/2017 19:01

You need a decent toaster with a removable washable crumb tray.

dingit · 08/04/2017 19:08

Doh! I meant toaster bag Blush

Areyoufree · 08/04/2017 19:10

I actually feel cheated that I have gone so long without knowing about toaster bags.

peukpokicuzo · 08/04/2017 19:14

6 minute meal:
Waffle into toaster, kettle on with 1 cup water in it, 4 nuggets from freezer into microwave.
Get peas & sweetcorn into small bowl. When kettle boils whip out nuggets from microwave and put boiling water onto peas & sweetcorn and zap them in microwave meanwhile put microwaved nuggets into toaster shield and pop them into the other half of the toaster. It won't be long before the toaster pops up so be nearby to quickly re-throck it down again. When it pops up a second time the whole meal is ready.

Can we rename this thread to life hacks? I'm in awe and amazement at the shortcuts in this thread that are life changing. The 6minute meal has almost finished me off! I also needed a good chuckle this evening after a rubbish couple of days. Thanks to OP and all contributors to this post for putting a smile on my face and making me chuckle Grin Grin

We do frozen pizza in the toaster too.

Discobabe98 · 08/04/2017 20:52

I'm so giving that 6 minute meal a go Grin and oh god I think i had a brain dead moment up there with the sandwich bags so please forgive me, I do realise now that plastic in the toaster would not mix Blush

Surely the cheese would drop off in a toaster? Plus they would have to be very small pizzas or a v big toaster!

DangerousBeanz · 08/04/2017 22:55

I set my toaster on fire doing this. There were blue flames and black smoke and everything, and I had to use the fire blanket before the kitchen went up. I blamed Jason Manford because he said it would be OK. My DH was cross and told me never to take cooking advice from a comedian ever again. We had to get a new super duper toaster, this one has 4 slots. I still do potato waffles in it when DH isn't in. I'm a rebel.

University tea! Twenty years ago!

WhiskyChick · 08/04/2017 22:59

Waffles in the toaster is my favourite life hack. Learned this about 10 years ago and feels weird to cook any other way now

LilacSpatula · 08/04/2017 22:59

Omg I'm in!

mmgirish · 09/04/2017 01:38

My brother and I used to do waffles in the toaster when we were young and lived at home. They're awesome!

Mummyandthemermaids · 10/04/2017 19:48

Lazy tea for my kids:
Waffles in toaster,
Beans in microwave,
Cocktail sausages!
Grin This usually comes in useful when I've forgotten to defrost proper food for a proper meal
*Beans may be replaced with the peas and sweet corn trick if you're feeling like you need some mum guilt vegetables on their plates Wink

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 10/04/2017 19:53

I used to keep cinnamon loaf in the freezer to prevent me binge eating it as a student. I just toasted it all instead so it didn't work.

When desperate, I ate it frozen.

Asbestos teeth.

oneleggedfatbird · 10/04/2017 19:55

Fish fingers in the toaster!? GENIUS!!

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 10/04/2017 19:56

I've just been in a hotel in Iceland where they had one of those fancy toaster rotating things. It said 'Do Not Toast The Waffles. Only To Toast In The Toaster.'

Humbug! I laugh in the face of such demands.

IsithormonesoramIamadcow · 10/04/2017 20:06

Have you tried pitta cheese on toast? Keep pitta in the freezer until needed as they go stale so quick then briefly toast to defrost. Cut in half, gentle pull apart to make a pocket. Put a slice of cheddar in the pocket, put carefully back in the toaster and toast till oozy/ crispy!
