It wouldn't hurt to get a few extra food supplies in (of the non perishable sort). Would it?
Or is it being ott.

I bet the shops love people like me Hmm

I want to be at PILs house. A) they are less than 5 miles from AWE so probably wouldn't survive a direct hit. B) if they did survive, they have hundreds of tins stashed away, grow their own veg, keep animals and have a gun. No neighbours to raid their supplies, either.

Aroundtheworldandback · 07/04/2017 23:01

I could chew the cud for a good few weeks

Tenementfunster · 07/04/2017 23:02

Isn't there supposed to be some sort of accompanying terrible firestorm type thing? That might do for you, cakes?

CakesAreBiscuitsToo · 07/04/2017 23:11

Ah, yes, I just rechecked tenement - if it's currently held bombs then both Russia and China could wipe Zone 2 out immediately. (They seemed most likely choices)

Whew. I was trialling the older bombs previously.

Will sleep better now. If it is a small one, come to Zone 2, I will share my big tin of 10 year Patriot Pantry Blueberry Muffin mix. Wink

Tenementfunster · 07/04/2017 23:14

Which bomb did you choose? There's a glimmer of hope for me in zone 5 depending on technology. otherwise it'll be muffin mix Grin

See nuclear war, paradoxically, can bring people closer together! Huzzah!

Lweji · 07/04/2017 23:23

Perhaps you could email Putin and ask for the biggest bombs to London?

Don't worry about the small range, though. At:
Current stockpile (usable and not) 4,500
Current strategic arsenal 2,600

He'll have a few to send to London

Tenementfunster · 07/04/2017 23:28

I want a quick exit. I'm a lover not a fighter so am gladdened that there's a lot of bombs that could rain down and take me and mine out straightaway
. Just a side point: What's the point of unusable ones? Just making up the numbers?

TizzyDongue · 07/04/2017 23:31

Tweet Puntin. Much quicker.

SarcasmMode · 07/04/2017 23:38

Leave near a military base, so I'm fucked.

At least I won't feel a thing.

Rather not live in a world like that anyway tbh.

MelonDrops · 08/04/2017 03:22

I'd rather just die straight away, starving to death over months with nothing to do or being clubbed to death by some person for my supply of Tesco value beans just doesn't appeal to me Grin

IAmNotAWitch · 08/04/2017 04:00

Even if it didn't start out nuclear it would end that way.

The reactors/weapons need constant seeing to.

bluetongue · 08/04/2017 04:21

Well seeing as I live on Oz I'll have plenty of time to ponder my eventual demise and watch the disintegration of society. I can't wait ...

tillytown · 08/04/2017 06:01

Someone earlier mentioned a swine flu bird flu crossover, and now I'm excited about getting it and being patient zero, what has this thread done to me?

Lweji · 08/04/2017 07:25

tillytown

You'll need to obtain a few infected pigs and infected birds and make sure they breathe on each others' faces.

cuirderussie · 08/04/2017 07:49

Can I just say thanks for this thread at a time when I'm more scared about the world than I was as a kid in the 1980s? You people are so funny. Grin

My (Irish) grandad lived through the Blitz and used to tell me how amazed he was at the English and the way they carried on while being pounded with bombs on a daily basis. "There's nothing'd bother them people" he'd say. I hope it doesn't come to that though. picturing mumsnetters communicating via carrier pigeon in the blackened postapocalyptic wasteland.AIBU- my toxic MIL ate my last piece of irradiated dog and I beat her to death?

Iris65 · 08/04/2017 07:59

cuirderussie 😆😆

Iris65 · 08/04/2017 08:01

The nuke site has been a real surprise to me. When I think nuclear war I picture thousands of miles of scorched earth but apparently not.

Tenementfunster · 08/04/2017 08:50

If anything, we should hope the enemy might start beefing up their nuclear capability! I want to be gone in a puff of smoke!

WooMeBaby · 08/04/2017 08:58

Im in the process of applying for a shotgun licence

Not even joking

WooMeBaby · 08/04/2017 09:00

All of you who's solution is doing away with yourselves, when it came down to it do you really think you would? I don't think I could, if it was just me then maybe but not the kids

cuirderussie · 08/04/2017 09:05

(Actually "toxic MIL" and "go NC" would have a new, literal meaning in post-apocalypse Mumsnet!)

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 08/04/2017 09:09

Fuck me with all these doom n gloom threads.

Fortheloveofscience · 08/04/2017 09:15

Woomebaby best hope WW3 holds off for a year then while the police process your license - where we are it's taking at least 9 months Grin.

Ollycat · 08/04/2017 09:22

People prep?!? I honestly didn't really think that was a genuine "thing" - who knew!!

I did a supermarket shop yesterday if that counts and we do appear to be stockpiling dishwasher salt.

Lweji · 08/04/2017 09:31

When I think nuclear war I picture thousands of miles of scorched earth but apparently not.

It's the radioactivity that will get you.
And the thousands of bombs.

But nobody wants it, so I'm not actually worried it will happen.
