Just had war with my next door neighbour.

I posted a thread here last week about Neighbours dogs coming into my garden- shifting everywhere, harassing my two and digging up flower beds.

General consensus was to board up the hole in the fence between our own gardens- which I did do. I also posted a receipt from the garden last weekend from the plants I had brought that her dogs dug up just hours after I planted them with a note explaining that as they had damaged my garden, could she please drop the cash in to go and replace the plants.

Neighbour returned from holiday last night and nothing was said. Went out this morning with the DC and have come back to find the fence panel has been taken out- so a) they have entered my property without permission as it was nailed in from my side (yes I probably shouldn't leave the gate unlocked) and b) have damaged something else of mine. Dogs have been in the garden again as well as DD stood in a dog shit on the patio.

Anyway went and knocked on neighbours door and produced her with the receipt for the fence panel as well. She ranted and raved at me, spat in my face and slammed the door in my face.

She has now gone out and left her mutts dogs in the garden so no doubt we will get a visit again from them this afternoon.

actually that would be a really good outcome
dogs attack and kill feral neighbour
dogs destroyed
problems solved

myshinynewusername · 07/04/2017 18:04

I would get some CCTV or maybe a webcam pointing out of one of the back windows to film this woman and her dogs, it will help you build a case against this woman, who is a definite candidate for an ASBO.

PossumInAPearTree · 07/04/2017 18:05

I would gather the dogs up every time they're in your garden and take them to the local council kennels. She will have to pay to claim them back every time. And yes, dump the dog shit on her doorstep, or through her letterbox!

Violetcharlotte · 07/04/2017 18:15

She sounds awful OP.

Does she rent privately or from a HA? If HA you can report her for antisocial behaviour as she's in beach of her tenancy. If she private so you know who the Lettings Agent is? Could try calling them. If not then Police. You've done the right thing and tried to sort this out in a sensible way, the type of person who spits in your face is
not going to listen to reason!

peaceout · 07/04/2017 18:17

And yes, dump the dog shit on her doorstep, or through her letterbox!
very tempting, but this is a woman for whom spitting in your face is an opening move
can you even imagine what her response would be if you put dog shit through her letter box?

TheMysteriousJackelope · 07/04/2017 18:23

Do you have the equivalent of animal control there? If strange dogs showed up in my yard I could phone them and they'd be taken to the animal shelter and the owner fined for letting them out to make a nuisance of themselves.

As it happens strange dogs have shown up in my yard but I've tracked down who they belonged to and taken them back home, because my neighbors are not rude, spitty, jackasses.

You can probably file a complaint for vandalism and trespassing over the damaged fence too, if you really want to push the boat out.

I don't like dogs being let out into other people's gardens like that. I know of at least two pet cats that have been killed by roaming dogs whose owners couldn't be bothered to control them.

HeeHighls · 07/04/2017 18:23

"yes, dump the dog shit on her doorstep, or through her letterbox!"

Oh my word!

She spat in your face. Filthy, despicable skank.

Police.
Police report to letting agent.
Dog warden.
Dog shit bagged up on doorstep.

The OP has privacy concerns and so we've agreed to take this down.

GahBuggerit · 07/04/2017 18:39

Did someone say they would take them and drop them miles away? Surely not that would be sick, none of this is the dogs fault Sad

Hope the police can help op, i second the idea of ringing LL as well

But please don't take it out on the dogs.

SusieOwl4 · 07/04/2017 18:42

Sorry sorry you are going through this . CCTV cameras sound like a good idea . We got ours through Amazon. So they have trespassed on your property and assault. Lovely . Do the dogs come in all the time or just when you are not there? I don't understand her because you are in fact protecting her dogs from escaping or being attacked by your own dogs. Plain bonkers. Make sure you start a diary of everything that has happened.

DriftingDreamer · 07/04/2017 18:43

Waiting for update....
If property rented then landlord is extra route as others have mentioned. Record every antisocial event in writing.
She sounds scary so you have to go formal and keep moral highground I think.
Good luck- how awful to live next door to her....

SusieOwl4 · 07/04/2017 18:43

Do you have any other neighbours having similar problems with her dogs

DartmoorDoughnut · 07/04/2017 18:47

Hope the police help and she gets kicked out

Daisymay2 · 07/04/2017 18:50

If you can't find out which letting agent rents her the property, then you can download the details of the owner from Land Registry- cost about £3 last time I needed to do it. Then contact direct.
You could send copies of the receipts and ask him/her to get the letting agents to get you re-imbursed. Might work. I would certainly be onto the letting agent if I had a complaint.

DriftingDreamer · 07/04/2017 18:53

Can you put cctv up scanning your back garden and fence?
Maybe with that, police involvement and monitoring everything to bombard landlord there maybe a stop in her behaviour.
She sounds awful though so her moving would be best...
[Do you share a landlord? Would you want to move?].
Bloody awful situation...

Rainbunny · 07/04/2017 18:56

Sorry OP, I'm afraid however much you might wish it, this will not resolve itself reasonably. Your ndn has made it clear that she's antisocial and doesn't care, something tells me she is very experienced in being the neighbour from hell. I'm glad you called the police, it's going to have to be this way going forward. It could be a good thing that she rents also, I'd be contacting the landlord asap. Good luck!

Rainbunny · 07/04/2017 18:57

Oh, install a camera as well. Something tells me there'll be more visits to your garden from the ndn dogs or the ndn herself...

Stripeyblanket · 07/04/2017 18:58

Phone the Police and report. If she spat at you she has committed an assault and also Criminal Damage if she has damaged the fence or anything else. Also worth asking the officer if they could have a chat with her about her dogs and to keep them in their own garden.

DriftingDreamer · 07/04/2017 18:58

Hope op comes back soon.
Maybe ndn will get arrested for spitting at police or something...
One can hope.....

AddictedtoSnickers · 07/04/2017 18:58

Bloody hell OP, spitting at someone is just beyond grim. I've no advice on dealing with her, but when you've put the fence panel back, you should staple some thick metal wire from the garden centre in a grid pattern across it. The type I use for growing my cucumbers upright is really thick and hard to cut. She'd have a job messing that up.

FairytalesAreBullshit · 07/04/2017 19:01

I would take photos and keep a diary of evidence, like returned home, fence panel removed & dog faeces on patio. You shouldn't have to live like that, it's shocking.

Might be worth calling 101 and seeing what they say.

SusieOwl4 · 07/04/2017 19:01

I think legally you can put your own fence up inside the boundary but it means technically she might gain a few inches of your garden. Wonder if that is what she is trying to do. Bet the dogs are not chipped either 🙄

Coughingchildren5 · 07/04/2017 19:02

I would, report her to police, hand dogs over to dog warden, complain to council. And repeat continually until someone does something about her.
