Just had war with my next door neighbour.

I posted a thread here last week about Neighbours dogs coming into my garden- shifting everywhere, harassing my two and digging up flower beds.

General consensus was to board up the hole in the fence between our own gardens- which I did do. I also posted a receipt from the garden last weekend from the plants I had brought that her dogs dug up just hours after I planted them with a note explaining that as they had damaged my garden, could she please drop the cash in to go and replace the plants.

Neighbour returned from holiday last night and nothing was said. Went out this morning with the DC and have come back to find the fence panel has been taken out- so a) they have entered my property without permission as it was nailed in from my side (yes I probably shouldn't leave the gate unlocked) and b) have damaged something else of mine. Dogs have been in the garden again as well as DD stood in a dog shit on the patio.

Anyway went and knocked on neighbours door and produced her with the receipt for the fence panel as well. She ranted and raved at me, spat in my face and slammed the door in my face.

She has now gone out and left her mutts dogs in the garden so no doubt we will get a visit again from them this afternoon.

We had a similar issue with our neighbours years ago, although the fence was their responsibility.

After patching it up untold times, only for them (or their dog) to break through the boards, we gave up and had a chain link fence put on our side, dug into the ground a few inches to stop them digging it up.

That's still intact, and with stuff grown in front of it, it looks ok-ish.

I'd second the previous poster who said to put the fence panel back and cover it in that god awful sticky burglar paint. DH had terrible trouble with youths getting on his workshop roof until he covered it in that stuff. One of their mums had the cheek to come in and tell him he had to replace the damaged trainers and trousers Shock. Soon stopped them though. You have to barricade your garden from your side to stop them. I'd also go along the lines of contacting the dog warden. They can be very helpful with escaping dogs. But don't leave your gate open, its not the dogs fault they have shit owners.

GabsAlot · 07/04/2017 15:41

when the police get there show them the dogs and how they come in and out your property

i dont know if they can do much about that part but id get it noted and definitely find out who thee ll is

OlennasWimple · 07/04/2017 15:46

Don't get involved in literal or figurative shit throwing, else you will end up losing any moral high ground whatsoever. PLus the police might not take it as seriously, and / or you could get into trouble yourself.

Simply phone the council to get them to collect the dogs and the police to log the encounter you had with her this morning. And take photos of the dogs in your garden and the state of the fence.

I can't believe the amount of people saying open your gate and I'm not even an animal
Lover! The dogs could get run over, a car could swerve and crash etc. It sounds stressful. If it were me I'd go for the putting up own second line of fence option, not that should have to though!

rainbowstardrops · 07/04/2017 15:47

Jeez what a vile scumbag to spit at someone!
I'd sit tight and wait for the police and see what they say.

Call the police. She obviously isn't going to be reasonable.

Veiledusername · 07/04/2017 16:02

Ring police - do not wash or touch where she has spat at you.

NBOT RTFT.

Veiledusername · 07/04/2017 16:03

Also, contact council dog warden regarding dogs.

Don't try to detain as if they become aggressive will come back on you (ie, if you get bitten you wont have a leg to stand on).

dowhatnow · 07/04/2017 16:04

I think your best bet is to contact the landlord. he won't want a neighbour dispute any more than you do.

ScaryMonstersandSuperCreeps · 07/04/2017 16:07

I would put them back in their garden and fix the hole again. I wouldnt let them loose on the public because
a) they might cause a traffic accident
b) they might scare someone who doesnt like dogs!
Well done on calling the police. Where did the spit go? Can the police get DNA off your clothes if it went on there?

AnneBiscuit · 07/04/2017 16:10

If they've got collars on can you catch them and tie them to her front door so they're out of your garden and block the hole again so your dogs can go out.

Donthate · 07/04/2017 16:11

She sounds awful!

Valentine2 · 07/04/2017 16:19

Get a sheep. Then if the dogs worry the sheep, you can shoot them.

Sorry it might sound like daft question but can you actually keep sheep in your garden? Confused

BonnyScotland · 07/04/2017 16:21

Yes but you need a holding number from DEFRA.... for disease and immunisation purposes Smile

Veiledusername · 07/04/2017 16:21

Do they have ID on their collars (or tags?)

What a vile creature she is!! I'd open my gate and let the dogs out. Not your problem.

MrsChopper · 07/04/2017 16:26

You did very well, OP. I would have lamped her if she spat in my face.

But you did the right thing by ringing the police. As others said before, throw their dogs' shit over the fence.

StrugglingSevens · 07/04/2017 16:27

Ugh. Spitting is discusting.

Impressed with your receipt maintenance!

Glad the police are coming by.

Valentine2 · 07/04/2017 16:33

Thanks Bonny

cherish123 · 07/04/2017 16:35

Police - spitting is assault and vulgar

She removed fence and was on your property- illegal

LexieLulu · 07/04/2017 16:45

Jesus! I hope you get things sorted. I would call RSPCA and report the dogs as strays. She will have to pay to get them back

FerdinandsRevenge · 07/04/2017 16:48

I'd report to her LL or the agency everytime as well as dog warden.
