Just had war with my next door neighbour.

I posted a thread here last week about Neighbours dogs coming into my garden- shifting everywhere, harassing my two and digging up flower beds.

General consensus was to board up the hole in the fence between our own gardens- which I did do. I also posted a receipt from the garden last weekend from the plants I had brought that her dogs dug up just hours after I planted them with a note explaining that as they had damaged my garden, could she please drop the cash in to go and replace the plants.

Neighbour returned from holiday last night and nothing was said. Went out this morning with the DC and have come back to find the fence panel has been taken out- so a) they have entered my property without permission as it was nailed in from my side (yes I probably shouldn't leave the gate unlocked) and b) have damaged something else of mine. Dogs have been in the garden again as well as DD stood in a dog shit on the patio.

Anyway went and knocked on neighbours door and produced her with the receipt for the fence panel as well. She ranted and raved at me, spat in my face and slammed the door in my face.

She has now gone out and left her mutts dogs in the garden so no doubt we will get a visit again from them this afternoon.

Grow a pair and call the dog warden. Say they must have got through your open gate and you've never seen them before.

Call the dog warden!

Hesdeadjim · 07/04/2017 15:05

Don't open the gate, dogs could cause an accident etc.

You have every right to detain a dog on your property if you feel it's safe to do so but bear in mind an excitable dog can be a risk to you no matter their size or temperament.

Is the boundary fence hers or yours? If it's hers she'll be in breech of her tenancy agreement by removing it (causing damage), if it's yours it's probably criminal damage so either way is bad for her.

HeeHighls · 07/04/2017 15:06

"I'd take them and drop then miles away"

What a totally vile thing to suggest.

I hope you never get your children a pet of any description as I could guess how it would end up.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 07/04/2017 15:08

I wouldn't leave the gate open, the dogs might cause an accident or they might get hurt.

It's not the dogs' fault.

Jaxhog · 07/04/2017 15:09

Get a sheep. Then if the dogs worry the sheep, you can shoot them.

Seriously though, call the police and animal control.

MadMags · 07/04/2017 15:10

Hee that poster literally said "I'm joking" straight after that. Hmm

Flowerydems · 07/04/2017 15:12

God I feel for you we have ignorant neighbours too. Glad you called the police and I second calling the landlord too, you'll be able to get their details from the local council.

Maybe call rspca and see about the legalities and say you think they're not getting enough exercise, which they can't be if they're tearing up your garden

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/04/2017 15:15

I do remember your thread.
OMG she spat in your fact. That's a serious assault. I'd phone the police, and not to frighten you I'd also book in for a tetanus as a precaution. You don't what this dirty beast has.
((((((((((((((())))))))))))))

BewtySkoolDropowt · 07/04/2017 15:16

Can you block the hole another way that doesn't affect the fence - a pile of large stones, a large garden ornament or something in front of the hole, not leaving enough room for the dogs to get through?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/04/2017 15:16

Grow a pair. The poor women was spat at.

HappyFlappy · 07/04/2017 15:21

Spitting is DISGUSTING! There's something so barbaric about it, as well as the health and hygiene horrors!

BreatheDeep · 07/04/2017 15:23

The police will tell you what is best to do with the dogs. I'd wait for them if I was you. And good on you for reporting the spitting. It's absolutely vile.

Mummyamy123 · 07/04/2017 15:25

I would literally take my gate off the hinges for a week or so. Yes it will make life more difficult for you with your dogs but it also means until the fence is fixed she can't let he dogs out safely in her garden.
I may be temped to put a trail of food to the front garden as well 😳

ADayGivingMeHope · 07/04/2017 15:26

Take a stand! It's your property, lock them in and call the dog warden! 🙄

ProlificPoster · 07/04/2017 15:27

Police

CCTV

Fence from your side not touching her fence but I might leave the gate open so the dogs escape first (not sure that's fair on the dogs but 🤷🏻‍♀️)

HeeHighls · 07/04/2017 15:31

"Hee that poster literally said "I'm joking" straight after that. hmm"

I cant see the post you refer to Mags.

We're a family of such animal lovers that I'd never consider that a joke.

HotelEuphoria · 07/04/2017 15:34

Police - yes
Pile up bricks in front of the gap yes
Report to the landlord yes
Report to the council/environmental health re: dog shit yes
Let the dogs out - no please don't. Two greyhounds were running in and out of the traffic whilst on my way home a few weeks ago, I hit one, I couldn't help it, I was devastated, it did run off and I reported it to the police. I have however got a cracked bumper on my lovely new car.

ZilphasHatpin · 07/04/2017 15:36
Shock

What the hell is wrong with her?? Why would she even think her dogs are entitled to be In your garden to the extent that she would remove your fence panel?! What's the back story there? Does she have no garden?

Supermagicsmile · 07/04/2017 15:37

Video them in your garden and then open your gate!

SheSaidHeSaid · 07/04/2017 15:39

Oh my goodness. That is absolutely disgusting on their part. I'm shocked for you.

Dragongirl10 · 07/04/2017 15:39

Electric fencing turned on when you go out, is a really good idea to keep out those pesky urban foxes.......

Crashbangwhatausername · 07/04/2017 15:40

Take the dogs in and shave a message onto their fur telling the owner to keep them inside then send them back over
