to ask if this was rude thing for stranger to say about DH?

Over the last 2 years, DH has often been mistaken for being a certain theatre singer. It's probably happened about 15-20 times - usually if we're out in Soho, but also on holiday in NYC. I must admit, I had never heard of this singer, but I have now. It is usually groups of Korean or Japanese women who approach him and often they either don't understand / don't accept that he is not who they think he is and just take photos or selfies anyway Hmm A few times he has signed "autographs" with a squiggle just to get away and out of the crowd.

Tonight we were leaving a restaurant and five Korean ladies asked DH if he was this person. They did speak quite good English and accepted that he is not, but one of them whispered to me that only some people have doubles and if DH ever sees or meets "the other one" then it's bad luck and "the end". I know this is ridiculous to post about, but the way she said it and looked at me has unnerved me for some reason. I'm not superstitious, but she has given me the creeps. Can I ask if anyone else has a so-called "double" and has anyone ever heard of anything like this at all?

You've never heard of doppelgängers? It's meat to be bad luck yes, of course it's superstitious nonsense.

OnionKnight · 05/04/2017 20:43

She's talking bollocks, everyone is meant to have a doppelgänger but it's total crap.

Crispbutty · 05/04/2017 20:43

Sounds like an Asian tradition/superstition perhaps. Certainly not rude though in my opinion.

So who does he look like though?? Smile

DesignedForLife · 05/04/2017 20:44

But yeah, still rude.

Plenty of people have a double. Identical twins for example. Lol.
Ignore these people, superstitious nonsense.

8misskitty8 · 05/04/2017 20:45

Just to be nosy who does your DH look like ?

user1489261248 · 05/04/2017 20:45

I really need to know who it is looks like! Grin

It is all superstitious shit though of course!

Allthebestnamesareused · 05/04/2017 20:45

Alfie Boe?

TheAntiBoop · 05/04/2017 20:45

Michael ball?

8misskitty8 · 05/04/2017 20:45

If he really looks so alike he gets stopped for autographs he could make a fortune as a look alike for hire.

WorraLiberty · 05/04/2017 20:46

Christopher Biggins?

HallowedMimic · 05/04/2017 20:47

It's a common tale, that meeting your doppelgänger is a portent of death.

When I was younger, and BT phone cards existed, I saw my double printed on one! It was raising awareness of homelessness or something.

I didn't drop down dead, it was only slightly jarring. But now I know she's out there.Grin

pseud0 · 05/04/2017 20:48

I've never really heard of it. I googled this singer and DH is quite like him when he has a beard, but the singer is an actor anyway and always changing for roles. The woman was just so creepy tonight. Normally I would take no notice, but the whole thing is odd anyway.

Rhydian?

ShatnersBassoon · 05/04/2017 20:49

Lionel Blair?

I wouldn't think of it as rude, just perhaps something a bit lost in translation.

nackle · 05/04/2017 20:49

My ex has a double, they even have the exact same name.
They were at the same wedding over 30 years ago but they never met.

araiwa · 05/04/2017 20:49

never let him outside again!!

ImperialBlether · 05/04/2017 20:49

I would milk that for all it's worth, if I were him!

pseud0 · 05/04/2017 20:51

No it's not Alfiie Boe. It's an American singer called Ramin Karimloo. He seems very famous with Japanese and Koreans in particular. When DH has facial hair he gets it more.

Lisa Minnelli Grin. No, op, it wasn't exactly rude. A little unnecessary, maybe. But she didn't make it up.
