to ask if this was rude thing for stranger to say about DH?

Over the last 2 years, DH has often been mistaken for being a certain theatre singer. It's probably happened about 15-20 times - usually if we're out in Soho, but also on holiday in NYC. I must admit, I had never heard of this singer, but I have now. It is usually groups of Korean or Japanese women who approach him and often they either don't understand / don't accept that he is not who they think he is and just take photos or selfies anyway Hmm A few times he has signed "autographs" with a squiggle just to get away and out of the crowd.

Tonight we were leaving a restaurant and five Korean ladies asked DH if he was this person. They did speak quite good English and accepted that he is not, but one of them whispered to me that only some people have doubles and if DH ever sees or meets "the other one" then it's bad luck and "the end". I know this is ridiculous to post about, but the way she said it and looked at me has unnerved me for some reason. I'm not superstitious, but she has given me the creeps. Can I ask if anyone else has a so-called "double" and has anyone ever heard of anything like this at all?

I must have lots of doppelgängers because people are always saying they saw me places I wasn't, or asking me if I work at places I don't. Seriously it happens almost weekly. Either that or I have an incredibly generic face Smile

I met the doppelganger of a friend once, whilst abroad. The likeness was stunning, and even weirder was that they both had the same mannerisms and this way of making slightly bad jokes and smiling ruefully. I showed them each other's fb profiles, and they both agreed! At least one is still alive and very happy (not in touch with the other!)

Italiangreyhound · 05/04/2017 23:42

pseud0 ignore. There are loads of silly superstitions.

I sometimes think some may be more 'realistic' e.g. walking under ladders, you could get something dropped on you from someone up the ladder!

But this is just crazy. Laugh it off.

Thanks

Did you just wanna show off about your hot hubbie?

Don't blame you!

UnderslungBowlingBall · 06/04/2017 00:09

Ah, he was Erik to Sierra Boggess' Christine in the 25th anniversary edition of Phantom of the Opera I believe.

kiwiblue · 06/04/2017 08:33

Phwoar....

It seems he's toured South Korea so maybe that explains the popularity among Asians?

KoalaDownUnder · 06/04/2017 08:47

Your husband looks like that and all you can do is whinge about a curse?!

Allthebestnamesareused · 06/04/2017 09:03

Oh so it was a stealth boast all along Grin

Oh my god. I've woken up a bit embarrassed about this thread now tbh Blush. I'd had a few cocktails last night. Thankyou to the PP for the shirtless photos. I had not seen this perspective. I can confirm DH is not that pumped up and also a bit more mammoth as he doesn't wax. The Koreans are obviously only seeing him with his shirt on Grin
I woke up in the night with that woman's weird face in my dream, but apart from that, I'm sure we'll survive.
