On my phone, when you send a text and then go back to the home page/do something else then go back into texts, it stays on the message conversation of the last person you messaged. I don't text many people and 99% of the time it's on my husbands message convo.

I've got my driving test tomorrow morning and my instructor has just text me to say he isn't very well and likely to have to postpone my test which could be another 8 weeks away now. Not instructors fault but I'm angry/upset as I'm going to have to pay again, too late to cancel now.

Anyway, I've text my husband (at work) and told him. I called instructor a few names as not been happy with him for few weeks but didn't want change instructor with being so close to test. Except I sent the text to my instructor and not my husband. Bollocks.

My driving instructor was called Dave 😆 But he was a good un.

Congratulations Cadbury on passing your test, I wish you many happy years of motoring.

TheSnowFairy · 03/04/2017 18:05

Well done! Star

DoNotBlameMeIVotedRemain · 03/04/2017 18:11

Congratulations Star

I think your text today was very courteous. I'd leave it there.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 03/04/2017 18:14

Congratulations on passing your test and on the twins!

Sally1963 · 03/04/2017 18:16

I took my test in my own car in 1980.

Sally1963 · 03/04/2017 18:20

Brilliant, well done.

spiderlight · 03/04/2017 18:24

Well done!!

Lillithxxx · 03/04/2017 18:36

He couldn't have been that dreadful an instructor when he turned up then...

Majorgoodwinschickenbeatstrump · 03/04/2017 18:37

Well done! Your text was lovely and very gracious. I wouldn't send anything- presumably you'll have paid for the use of the 2nd car today? That's enough! :) well done again! Smile

grannytomine · 03/04/2017 18:44

My driving instructor was called Dave, mind you it was over 40 years ago so I think he is probably retired. I suppose he would be about 90 now so he might have gone to the great driving school in the sky. RIP Dave (maybe.)

paddypants13 · 03/04/2017 18:44

Congratulations on passing your test and I think you did the right thing sending an apology text. (You were also rightly angry with him though.)

lloydee1983 · 03/04/2017 18:47

Congrats on passing and it was good that you were able to find someone to accompany you to the test.

I took my test in 2002 , same thing happened to me my instructor couldn't attend the test . He sent another instructor and i passed no problems. Was the only time he let me down, i did my lessons with the AA which was top dollar even back then so on the basis on that i was expecting a good service. My younger sister also used same instructor and passed couple years later .

SherbrookeFosterer · 03/04/2017 18:55

He sounds a lame instructor to let you down at such short notice.

Don't feel guilty and good luck when you finally get another test date!

Robstersgirl · 03/04/2017 18:56

Do you live down south?

Bettyspants · 03/04/2017 19:00

Well done op! Perhaps your original message to him will make him buck his ideas up a bit. On the other side I know someone similar getting a lot of -deserved- flack for being unreliable, but she's not plucked up the courage to admit she's battling a serious illness and is trying to hang on to work. I think you delt with an honest mistake very well.

Gitch69 · 03/04/2017 19:02

Congratulations first of all!!
As others have said, don't send him anything! You've messaged him so he knows the result - I'm sure he didn't give you lessons out of the goodness of his heart, you paid good money for the service he provided. Given your personal situation, he should have made more effort to accommodate you - ill or not, or he should have provided a replacement.
You've done the absolute perfect thing and passed first time - sod him!!! Flowers

Dontjudgeme1 · 03/04/2017 19:09

Congratulations to you on passing your Driving Test and on having twins. Definately do not give Dave a gift. Driving lessons are expensive and you will need your money, especially with twins to look after soon. All the best for the future.

dstill1964 · 03/04/2017 19:40

Life's tough at mo. My son has money probs along with health probs.has1 pair of jeans any other bits are too small and they have rips his benefits stopped so he has no food no gas or electric. I can feed him just but what can he do . It already been for reconsidera

ArseholesOnToast · 03/04/2017 19:42

Congratulations OP. Did Dave reply to your text telling him you'd passed? Agree with PPs about not getting him anything.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 03/04/2017 19:52

I wouldn't send him a gift either considering how he's messed you about, but I'm thrilled for you OP that you've passed. Congrats Star

Must admit you made me laugh though how you phrased the announcement. It was something like Passed. 32 weeks pregnant with twins. First time Wink

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 03/04/2017 19:52

Yay, well done Cadbury!!

pluck · 03/04/2017 20:20

Brilliant story and good conclusion, Cadbury! I agree with others about no more contact with Dave (can you tell I also had a flakey instructor?! Wink). However, the instructor who stepped in at the last moment might deserve the "gift" of a review on the local FB page where you found him/ her...?

Platimum · 03/04/2017 20:50

A gift?! No way!! Unless it is from you to you

Deathstarevicki · 03/04/2017 20:52

Well done. Don't send anything. That text you sent him was great 😂
