Found my dream dress today...it's over my budget by £800 but I'm not sure if my budget was U to start with as I seemed underestimate how much they cost!
How much was your dress?

£660, reduced from £1000 however, if I had more time I would have looked around more as I think it was a lot of money for a dress I wore once. Some high street and department store dresses around the £200 range are stunning.

welovepancakes · 01/04/2017 17:05

£120. Sold as a bridesmaid dress but I had it made in ivory

greenlavender · 01/04/2017 17:11

I had it made in1991 - £693

greenlavender · 01/04/2017 17:13

That included the veil & garter

Lweji · 01/04/2017 17:15

I think it ended up being just over 300 with the alterations, almost 20 years ago.
At Debenham's and still love it.

BakedBeeeen · 01/04/2017 17:20

£350 from phase eight. (6 years ago) Everyone commented on how lovely it was

itsbetterthanabox · 01/04/2017 17:25

£600. It was half price as it was end of line. Bargain!
Alterations will maybe be a 100.

elQuintoConyo · 01/04/2017 17:33

Ebay £100 it was/is an original pink poofy prom dress from the 50s. Fucking gorgeous- but a bit out there!

I still have it and it still fits... but i haven't worn it since.

I have heard of 6 female friends who all got married within a couple of years of each other who, once a year, meet up and wear their dresses. They go to a different woman's house every year, no men no kids, eat drink and be merry. It makes the neighbours double-take to see merangue after merangue all pile into one house of an evening Grin

EssentialHummus · 01/04/2017 17:34

£25 from ASOS. Loved it and wear it regularly!

Tiggerific1984 · 01/04/2017 17:37

95 from bhs. I got divorced last year

deadringer · 01/04/2017 18:10

110 pounds from a bridal shop 30 years ago. It was the first one i tried on and no alterations needed.

lurkymclurkerson · 01/04/2017 18:13

£890 plus alterations (still to be confirmed - the wedding's not til November!) for a lacy tea length number which was the second dress I tried on Grin

bigmouthstrikesagain · 01/04/2017 18:13

£50 flower patterned cotton halterneck from Greenwich market. It was perfect for me.Smile

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 01/04/2017 18:14

45 U.S dollars Grin It was from Holy Clothing, silver grey with Celtic embroidery.

FuzzyCustard · 01/04/2017 18:15

£60 five years ago. Monsoon outlet.

zukiecat · 01/04/2017 18:17

£500 in 1992

It was a pale pink Romantica of Devon, and I absolutely loved it

Didn't want to take it off ever!

AnnaFiveTowns · 01/04/2017 18:19

80 quid from Debenhams. It's not an official wedding dress but I'm not sure what else anyone would wear it for - it certainly looks like a wedding dress.

zukiecat · 01/04/2017 18:19

There were some slight alterations to mine and both bridesmaids dresses but I can't remember exactly how much

Around £75 I think

Iamastonished · 01/04/2017 18:20

About £20 nearly 36 years ago. My mum made it, and the material and lace came to about £20.

I get that wedding dresses need to have a wow factor, but spending thousands on a dress that you will only wear once seems a little silly to me.

ethelfleda · 01/04/2017 18:21

£495 last year from a chain place called wed2b
First one I tried on and fit like a glove Grin

SharkiraSharkira · 01/04/2017 18:22

About £350 10 years ago including underskirt etc. Didn't have a veil. DMum did alterations for me as I bought it online due bridal shops being rude to me as I was young and pregnant Confused It was ok and I liked it at the time but it wasn't really what I wanted and didn't fit right.

Second time around (if we get there) I will be wearing a beautiful beaded, lace designer dress I tried on in a bridal dress (was £1200) and then managed to get on EBay for £300 Grin

AlexanderHamilton · 01/04/2017 18:23

£550 plus the veil 17 years ago. It was a traditional dress with a train. It was slightly over budget but my parents paid.

mum11970 · 01/04/2017 18:23

£200 in sale at a wedding dress shop.

OhForCodsHake · 01/04/2017 18:24

£195 from Coast seven years ago Smile

CustardOmlet · 01/04/2017 18:24

6 years ago. £220 monsoon dress, £70 Irregular Choice shoes and £70 John Lewis Bolero.
