Is this the most sexist front page ever?

I never ever post in AIBU but I have just watched newsnight and could not believe my eyes when going through tomorrow's front pages of the newspapers.

I don't read said publication so will not post a direct link, but will leave this here instead:

I like perving on male politicians. I'm just patiently waiting for an article which meets my needs.

I was immediately disappointed that I do not read the guardian when I saw that piece on Trudeau. Whhoooooa!!!

Yep I think they were overdoing it on the front page. Neither of them are hot enough for that. I'd push them back a couple of pages Grin

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 11:25

By the way that was a joke

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 11:29

Why didn't they put Trudeau on the front page. They would have sold loads more papers?

GloriaV · 28/03/2017 11:30

The Apprentice, most of the women used to wear fairly understated clothes. In recent series's, they all seem to be wearing 6 inch heels, skin tight clothes, have massive hair extensions and are plastered in makeup. Of course that's their choice

Maybe they choose females who dress like that or maybe they encourage the women to dress that way - we don't know if it's the womens' free choice or not.

Saxa · 28/03/2017 11:36

Just noticed at the top (where the date etc. is) it says "Newspaper Of The Year".

How the fuck did that happen?

MorrisZapp · 28/03/2017 11:37

Nippy, you're not the only person in the known universe who wants to see hot men. I have a handy hint: type 'hot men' into your favourite Internet browser and enjoy.

If you feel there just aren't enough hot men on the front pages of national newspapers during times of constitutional crisis, you may be confusing 'newspaper' with 'lifestyle magazine'.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 11:37

Fashions change in the 90s suit skirts barely covered your arse, then it went more conservative and it seems to be getting less conservative again. It will probably go on like this forever.

Plus, the apprentice is a daily mail version of business. It is not in any way representative of females in the workplace.

That is all tabloids are nowadays. Anyone who expects anything sensible from the mail or the Guardian is being pretty hopeful imho.

But, both women knew they would be photographed and could have worn trousers, longer skirts or indeed, burkhas, had they so wished. They wanted their legs in the photos.

yes I am sure that was what they were both thinking yesterday morning I have an extremely important meeting today but must wear something that shows off my legs after all I shall be photographed

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 11:43

If I had good legs damn right I would Grin

LastnightaDJ · 28/03/2017 11:49

Well that's interesting Nippy. My legs are good, as are my boobs, but I would never show them in a professional context because I do not wish to be judged on them.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 11:50

Are women not allowed to feel attractive now?

Even if they want to?

Are the feminists telling us we are not allowed?

Why should we need to explain what we want to wear to feminists, when they can wear flat shoes if they want to?

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 11:53

because I do not wish to be judged on them

neither would I, but I find it very odd to try to impose that view on someone else. ie. you shouldn't wear that in case someone else judges you.

Perhaps they do not feel that they will be judged or think the judging is the problem, not their clothes. I wouldn't judge, unless what they were wearing was hugely inappropriate.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 11:56

I think may and Nicola were appropriately dressed.

In some countries hair is considered sexy. Should we all cover that in case we are judged.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 28/03/2017 11:57

the issue as to if TM or NS feel attractive is personal themselves

they were not there to discuss this issue (unless its part of the Brexit talks that I am not been made aware of) there were they to discuss very important issues that impact us all and as is the norm the media were there to report this very very important meeting

LastnightaDJ · 28/03/2017 11:59

What is all this about "the feminists"? I am simply making the point that this whole complex mess of what to wear-what not to wear-judging/not judging etc etc does not apply to men partly because they do not engage in the game. So why we do women?

And no I am not saying women may not feel attractive. Its just that it's hardly foremost in my mind AT WORK. And I doubt any man feels it is either. It is unclear to me why any woman should particularly care what they look like at work, beyond being groomed and clean. Work is work, nothing more.

LastnightaDJ · 28/03/2017 12:02

Nippy, you're missing my point. Why is it women's hair or legs that is of interest? Why not men's? I would be less bothered about this if I saw men scrutinised too.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 12:02

They discussed not very much that we didn't know already. The only interesting thin left WAS what they wore.

Summary:

Nicola: How long is brexit going to take
May: aroud 18months to 2years
Nicola: We want a referendum
May: I'va already told you you do not have permission.
Nicola: We are doing it anyway.

What was there to report? We knew all this last week.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 12:05

I would be less bothered about this if I saw men scrutinised too

Jeremy Corbyn

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 12:07

Obama?

egosumquisum1 · 28/03/2017 12:09

awf

You seem to be distracting from the reality of what happened.

This was an important meeting to discuss Brexit and Scotland. The DM decided to focus on the appearance of women.

Imagine if Trump met Putin and the only conversation was on the clothes they wore.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 12:11

Imagine if Trump met Putin and the only conversation was on the clothes they wore

What a bloody relief that would be.

UpAwfYerSeatWeeNippy · 28/03/2017 12:13

Plus if we knew what they were going to say there wouldn't be much left to report on.

AmberNectarine · 28/03/2017 12:40

To say NS and TM shouldn't wear skirts if they don't want the DM to publish misogynistic articles undermining their powerful positions is a bit like saying 'don't wear a skimpy dress on a night out if you don't want to be raped'.

howabout · 28/03/2017 12:48

If TM had worn trousers, which NS very rarely does, I suspect the headline would have been along the lines of "Whose wearing the trousers". Just heard Nicky "trousergate" Morgan critiquing the Mail. Shock

I think poor Trump gets a load of flack for his tangerine tendencies and wayward hair. Vlad doesn't seem to mind when the press focus on his bare chest and even produces a calendar of his exploits.
