I never ever post in AIBU but I have just watched newsnight and could not believe my eyes when going through tomorrow's front pages of the newspapers.

It's the Daily Mail of course it's awful. But it's got everyone clicking, looking and commenting so it worked.

Is it just me or does it feel like since the News of The World was abolished the DM have tried to fill the gap. They just get worse and worse.

Also the reason some posters noticed the legs and shoes is because the photo has been taken from a lower angle than you would normally see a photo of two politicians. I think the term is "upskirt" 😡

Showed this to DH. He covered up both faces and toro's so he could examine legs in isolation. He said he reckoned Strugeon had hotter legs, although he said it was most likely down to the lighting and leg postures.

It's a trashy photo deliberately taken at angle that makes it look all legs. It's goady, sexist and utter trash. Just what I'd expect from them.

The original didn't have lighthearted written on it because it isn't. They think this stuff is important. They are back peddling because of the volume of scorn. It pisses me off more that they are using the lighthearted banner to try and pass off such bollocks as acceptable.

The Fail are basically aiming at the lowest level now. They are catering entirely to racist, sexist. Xenophobic assholes. Basically the kind of people who read the daily sport.

The thing that is worst is that people will be clicking DM links to look at this shite and comment on it. DM will just laugh as they make money from everyone who clicks their direct link. They don't get the money taken away if you think it's sexist bollocks.

If you want to stand against this bullshit DON'T read the mail. That means don't buy the paper and don't read the mail online. Don't click a link that says daily mail or mail online. So many people moan about how terrible it is but they "don't read the paper just some of the gossip online" it's all money in their pockets don't kid yourself.

I am so sick of any woman with any kind of public presence being diminished to her clothes and body. I often wonder what it might be like to be an average bloke, able to inhabit public space and powerful roles with a degree of unselfconsciousness and self-possession that isn't even imaginable for a woman.

As I get older, I'm increasingly intolerant of all manifestations of this, from men and women. I just think people who buy into it, on all sides of the gender divide, are totally pathetic.

It's a nice level photo of their faces - not looking up or down (not looking double chinny etc)... Did photographer take photo assuming it would be cropped to waist level?

Sarah Vine should be thoroughly ashamed of herself. I've avoided clicking, but according to the radio this morning she's done a whole article about things like "shapely shanks" and analysing how provocative their poses are. How on earth could any woman with an ounce of self-respect produce rubbish like that?
