I've just seen the headline but not read the full story. If you beat a stranger in the street with a bat you go to prison but it's ok to do it to your wife?

I read it earlier and couldn't believe it.

Plus he : phoned her parents and told them she wasn't obeying him (when he was poring bleach and stuffing tablets in her mouth). Was financially and emotionally abusive. Called her friends "English slags" and told her he could kill her if he hit her hard enough with his bat.

In cases where a clearly too lenient sentence has been given can the cps or someone appeal the decision?
This judge has clearly said it's ok to beat your wife

Murdered his wife, feeds her to his dogs but he "just made a mistake" so he should be allowed to join the football team, make millions of money and get on with his life.

Leicestershire county cricket club have issued a statement saying "Any references to Mustafa Bashir signing or being approached to sign for Leicestershire County Cricket Club are completely false. The club have never spoken to Mustafa Bashir or an agent, nor offered a contract to the player."

Hopefully the publicity around the case will prevent any other clubs from showing an interest as well. It doesn't make up for the fact that the bastard should be in prison but at least it's something.

My thoughts go to Fakhara Karim. I don't know how I'd even begin to deal with that verdict.

Not a victim because you have a degree and friends.

I had a similar case - H admitted DV towards me and severe financial abuse in court.

But the judge ruled that as I have a PhD (obtained 20 years ago, 10 years before marrying), that means I am educated and therefore was fully complicit with exH, despite all of the evidence to the contrary.

How he made the leap to that I will never know, but it's ruined me financially after ex destroyed me emotionally. The price I seem to have paid for getting an education.

He's been given a Suspended Sentence Order. You only get these if the judge deems that the offence does cross the custody threshold. I agree that the judge has no right determining that the victim isn't vulnerable based on the criteria he appears to have considered, but Bashir has been given a custodial, albeit suspended.

Seems wrong that the offence was charged as ABH rather than GBH.

I am glad he doesn't have a contract..Comments are ridiculous..Do we deal with mugging dependant upon how rich someone is.

Judges really needed to be educated on the Damage DV has one the victim.
