Following the shocking news from London, where is the Leader of the U.K and what is her response to this?

She's doing her fucking job. Chairing a COBRA meeting to work out how to deal with the twisted scum who want to carry out these attacks.

nancy75 · 22/03/2017 17:56

What support is she supposed to give to people who are late collecting their kids? Seriously you are spouting crap

PerspicaciaTick · 22/03/2017 17:56

And I really don't understand what reassurance you want or need? That the attacker acted alone - they probably don't know at the moment. That it won't happen again - they can't say that. That everyone is going to be just fine and dandy - they very clearly aren't.
And you are hundreds of miles away, so just about as safe and cosy as you can be.

Be patient. Wait. Like everyone else. Including the people who don't know if their loved ones will be coming home tonight.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/03/2017 17:57

She will be in meetings with the most senior security experts in this country

That is far more important right now than giving a public statement to the press others can do this

And of course she has to speak with Trump information is going to be shared between both governments security experts that we will not know about

WorraLiberty · 22/03/2017 17:57

Why the urgency and what 'answers' do you think she can give people at the moment?

The police have spoken, that should be enough for now.

OliviaStabler · 22/03/2017 17:58

This ^^

NoelHeadbands · 22/03/2017 17:58

She's doing her bloody job. Are people seriously that desperate for a soundbite?

EffinElle · 22/03/2017 17:58

Believe me I'm no fan but she is doing her job, planing imminent cobra meeting.

Bejazzled · 22/03/2017 17:58

I don't theink this thread went the way the op wished for....

Goldfishjane · 22/03/2017 17:59

Yabu
The police are updating us
She was removed from the scene and will need to have facts to hand before saying anything and some strategy to sort.

Is this the same thinking that starts "pray for London"? I've lost people in terror attavks, quite what prayers and short immediate statements are supposed to do to help i don't know.

KurriKurri · 22/03/2017 17:59

I have no great admiration for the PM, but I imagine that she is currently being guided by the police, terrorism advisors, etc and doing exactly what she is told.
In the middle of an emergency where all efforts are being concentrated on helping those directly involved, do you really think security should be directed over to the outside of Downing Street so she can give a statement.

I assume Trump contacted her not the other way round. It would hardly help anything at all if she'd told him 'fuck off I'm not talking to anyone at the moment' however appalling a person he may be, USA is our ally.

No doubt everyone will make statements as and when it is appropriate.

GrimDamnFanjo · 22/03/2017 18:01

It's not the PM's job to be sending out statements or reassuring us. It's her job to be chairing COBRA and dealing with the situation.

ForalltheSaints · 22/03/2017 18:02

Chairing COBRA is more important than appearing in front of the media.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 22/03/2017 18:02

Following the shocking news from London, where is the Leader of the U.K and what is her response to this?

Given her a break!

She was swiftly moved to Downing Street and is now in COBRA.

I also imagine she will speak to Tobias Ellwood MP who gave CPR to the policeman to try to save him.

NameUser · 22/03/2017 18:05

During th July 2005 London bombings the first explosion was around 7 or 8 am I believe and Tony Blair (pm at the time) did not address the country/world until around noon......as he needed to get all the facts and information before he did so, I assume the same is happening right now.

BlueFolly · 22/03/2017 18:05

A speech from the heart, and hip, would be appropriate from May, No?

Err, no.

It's not her style, she's not Tony Blair, and that's fine with me.

thebakerwithboobs · 22/03/2017 18:06

I've always found her to be responsive and not reactive and that's fine with me. She's not Tony 'all about me' Blair ffs.

BlueFolly · 22/03/2017 18:06

X post- there we go - even Tony Blair wouldn't habe responded yet!

thebakerwithboobs · 22/03/2017 18:06

X post Blue!

EffinElle · 22/03/2017 18:07

Trump (and probably many other leaders) probably contacted her.

She's doing exactly what she should be doing. As PP's have said. Not reassuring that she's Been in contact with Trump though.

specialsubject · 22/03/2017 18:10

Ah, millenials.... She's running the country while the security services co ordinate a response and try to minimise casualties. Soshul meeja and statements to the public can wait.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/03/2017 18:10

No. That would be entirely inappropriate.

TheOldLandmark · 22/03/2017 18:10

Fuck's sake...I'm not expecting a 'We will fight them on the beaches...' war footing speech, just an appearance from the PM after what is a terrible event for those involved, HOURS afterwards.

As for the cobra meeting, a lot of nodding and agreeing with whatever the national security and armed forces recommend - hardly any PM's speciality.

As for holding my hand...I'm 400 miles from London. My view is fields and sheep as far as the eye can see, still deeply saddened that four people have died, and have sympathy for all those affected today. I am horrified at events, and watching the news.

Never meant to be 'goady'...hard to read tone I know, but I am sorry for all people affected by this today, and in the days following.
