Just read from a journo that the guy covered in blanket on the floor has no police officers near him, but does have sniffer dogs...

He speculated this meant it was not the policeman.

puzzled I strongly suspect there will be. At the very least the offender sounds like he's had a few bullets put in him.

From what I can work out

Car plowed through pedestrians on Westminster Bridge - one dead, others with catastrophic injuries, some jumped into the water to escape.

Car then drove into the railings at Westminster Palace.

Driver attacked a female police officer with a knife. Attacker was shot.

It is awful. Feel so sorry for all caught up in this and hope that no-one else dies.

Shit. Have they got boats in the water if people have jumped in? People die jumping into that river Sad how desperate must they have been

FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 16:33

They will have boats out. They will have the police boat out at least for the riverside part of parliament.

I don't think jumping in to the river is that bad. There are loads of boats and the river police. It's not a long drop and it's deep enough.

You've got to be fucking terrified to do it though Sad

However it's a tidal river with a very strong current. It's why people choose to suicide from it.

Report
FlappinSwazy · 22/03/2017 16:35

older That's an infamous suicide bridge. Sadly it had just been low tide.

Sad it's horrible. So many of us have walked across that bridge, I can't imagine what it must have been like for those poor people.

Report
Soubriquet · 22/03/2017 16:35

Desperation isn't it

You get hit by a car, you have a good chance of being killed

You jump in the river and there's that tiny chance you will survive.

The lady that died was under the wheels of a bus according to the doctor that confirmed her death.

PortiaCastis · 22/03/2017 16:38

Police statement in a bit so hopefully the speculation will stop

Another fatality announced Sad

Must have been chaotic and terrifying for everyone. I can't imagine how it must have been for them all.

Poor French school children, some of them hit by the car, all traumatised, barely able to speak - imagine how those poor parents must be feeling right now knowing their kids are caught up in it and being miles away from them.

Report
PollytheDolly · 22/03/2017 16:40

Terrible news. Condolences to the ladies family. Emergency services doing a fantastic job. Praying those with "catastrophic" injuries pull through. School kids on that bridge too.

Just heard two people now dead. Heartbreaking.

soub where abouts? Male or female?

Wando1986 · 22/03/2017 16:40

Looking at the photos I think the police officer is dead. The other person (by the fencing) had armed guards pointing at them and the look on the other police officers faces walking away from that specific body are so sad Sad. Photo on the news just now shows an asian man all in black being wheeled off by ambulance staff too. Wheras the other body is now covered :'(

It really was only a matter of time. I have no words bad/strong enough for those who thought this up and/or carried it out.

I think responding in Arabic is being goady tbh.

A police officer is being treated for a head injury in hospital (confirmed by doctors).

Were there two police officers injured?

Wando1986 · 22/03/2017 16:42

Flappin, I'd avoid looking at the reuters photo of her under the bus. It's soul destroying :'(

This is horrendous...the world is one horrible place.

Sending prayers & hand holds to everyone who has friends or loved ones in the capital today, or who is there themselves.
