High security doesn't stop people being mown down by 4X4s though does it? It's put the fear back in us all when a lot of people were starting to put it to the back of their minds a little.

Could also be a response to the laptops ban? If it was terrorism, perhaps the perpetrator planned to run a load of people over, and then shoot/stab people before being shot dead himself?

The tighter airport security is likely to make them look at softer targets. I'm surprised there hasn't been even more 'driving of large vehicles into crowds' to be honest. Almost impossible to stop without seriously inconveniencing the entire country/world and quite effective if Nice etc is anything to go by Sad.

I see Hmm Have to admit it's the first time I've seen it on here.

Is it so difficult to believe, Cordelia, that there are deranged people capable of something like this even if it's not that likely they'll get to their ultimate target? I can easily believe it.

Respect for the police and medics on the scene. Hope everyone on the bridge can be treated.

My husband regularly works at HoP, RCJ and other high security buildings. As much as you wouldn't want to think it security isn't fail proof

Bellrophon had a very inappropriate comment deleted on a thread yesterday in gaelic on the Martin McGuiness thread if I remember.

Ah, a stirrer. That makes more sense.

I am down road from it, been locked in our building, sirens been going past constantly for past hour nearly, utter madness and very scary.

Freaking out about how to get home and pick kids up tonight.

Hope everyone involved is going to be ok - this stuff always frighteningly comes out of no where....

It is odd to see Arabic on here but I can understand wanting to make the point if I was part of the Muslim/middle eastern community that I was in no way a part of that bit of my culture or condoning it.

Slightly clumsy on a site where you rarely see anything that isn't English, but the sentiment behind it is kind and I think that's how it should be received.

@JustHavinABreak if I'm messaging OH in Arabic script I sometimes don't notice (usually when I'm half asleep) or if I can't quite get the transliteration right

No harm done Smile

Sorry, just get a bit sensitive when things like this happen

Ah balls re: Martin mcguiness trolling - really?

Ah well, I'd rather be naively seeing the best in people i suppose.

Just do what we did with similar things in the Seventies/Eighties. Contact your child's school and/or carers and/or husband and friends and see if they can collect and look after. Keep in touch with the news. Someone in your company should be liaison for this sort of occasion so they can advise if tube/buses running. Suspect Parliament Square/Waterloo Bridge and local tube stations will be no go for some time.

@JustAnotherYellowBelly nothing at all wrong with arabic though not sure what response was expected given lack of translation and low number of Arabic speakers here. Plus I would put money on Bellrophon not speaking Arabic, sentence was weird.
