Three pairs of pants is NOT enough... is it??

Adunni · 22/03/2017 13:00

Noticed there were hardly ever pairs of DP's pants in the wash basket, so I bought him a pack that looked comfy and were reasonably priced, and put them in his underwear drawer.

When I mentioned I'd done this he said, "Oh, you didn't need to do that - I already have three pairs."

I press him on this and he says that, 'as [he's] not a woman', he doesn't need to change his pants every day and three pairs is plenty.

As in he literally own three pairs. In total.

He's been wearing them in rotation and if I'd have to estimate I'd say that unless I forcibly liberate them from his Floor Closet (that's a rant for another day) they aren't getting washed more than once every two weeks.

Am I being precious or is this just... eughh???!!

I sometimes don't wear any.
(that's probably tmi? but... eh. Yup. Bye...)

OneSecondAfter · 23/03/2017 20:54

DS17 is changing his underwear 3x daily

But... Why??

floraeasy · 23/03/2017 20:56

Do you have to beat them with a stick to get them into the washing machine?

Smile

I expect they could walk there by themselves...!

PollytheDolly · 23/03/2017 20:57

But... Why??

Because he doesn't have to wash 3 pairs a day. Grin

OCSockOrphanage · 23/03/2017 21:00

Because he likes to be clean after a shower, and to be fair, he is showering twice daily, in the morning and after exercise in the evening, and then changing to sleep in undies, not PJs. He's not going to displease in hygiene terms, but laundry ....

IloveBanff · 23/03/2017 21:00

AteRiri why do you think the OP said in the first paragraph "I bought him a pack that looked comfy and were reasonably priced, and put them in his underwear drawer." if she didn't mean underwear?

PollytheDolly · 23/03/2017 21:04

Do some of you really sniff your husbands gruts??!

Hahahaaaaa.

floraeasy · 23/03/2017 21:04

OP, where are you???!

I hope you haven't suffocated with the fumes from your guy's
undercrackers.....

CharlieFairhead · 23/03/2017 21:06

There are actually pants out there that are aimed at outdoor enthusiasts and are designed to be worn for several days at a time, with no 'ill' effects.
Chief amongst these are those made of merino wool, and since these can cost up to £40 a pair, having just 3 pairs is not unreasonable!

OCSockOrphanage · 23/03/2017 21:16

Mohair socks work like merino kecks. Hard fibre, don't absorb odours, and so can be worn for a while, or three days. Love my mohair socks.

tanfield90 · 23/03/2017 21:21

OP. Buy him some backless briefs. Or thongs. They are both very fetching.

1horatio · 23/03/2017 21:30

tan

jockstrap?

tanfield90 · 23/03/2017 22:01

A jockstrap isn't much different to backless briefs. Google some pictures, I dare you.

GladGran · 23/03/2017 22:02

Sorry everyone, but it is a man thing and they are not too particular. I don't mind mine wearing them for 2 or 3 days before I confiscate them, even though he has a bulging drawer of clean ones - (though I do not iron them and he would not know how). Do not get me on to washing necks and clean shirts! He has survived to his 70s despite the harmful effects of dirt and, I promise you, he does not smell!

1horatio · 23/03/2017 22:03

True. The backless briefs seem to have a bit more fabric than the strap, don't they? ;)

OneSecondAfter · 23/03/2017 22:09

Sorry everyone, but it is a man thing

It's really not.

tanfield90 · 23/03/2017 22:10

Backless briefs are probably a little more substantial than a 'strap. I haven't examined them that closely.

Do you like backless briefs and thongs for men ? Clue: the correct answer is, 'no, not under any circumstances'.

problembottom · 23/03/2017 22:13

Bloody hell I could not cope with that. DP has 30 or 40 pairs (he's obsessed with Bjorn Borg pants) and even he tries to wear them two days in a row sometimes. Doesn't usually get away with it!

1horatio · 23/03/2017 22:17

I haven't examined them that closely. I just did (online. Not that DH owns anything like that. of course).

But I myself have some semi-backless underwear? Blush

tanfield90 · 23/03/2017 22:26

Semi-backless ? The mind boggles. Pictures please.

Anyways, back to the thread. Regardless of the amount of fabric involved in their construction, changing one's drawers at least once daily is a must. Anything less is minging.

HelsinkiLights · 23/03/2017 22:36

I think Jack Reacher goes commando but then I think won't his trousers smell funny after a few days.
On the other hand Jack would probably have 2 pairs of pants on him (as he always has a toothbrush with him) & wash a pair in the sink at night.

My worry is more does Jack wear deodorant or does he have stinky pits?
I think I need to email Lee Child & ask him.
(I ponder over the most strangest things such as does the Queen look in the mirror & sometimes say out loud "Omg I can't believe I'm the Queen!" & curtsey to herself. I bet her Maj has plenty of pants.)

Travelledtheworld · 23/03/2017 22:41

Helsinki I have also been worried about Jack Reacher and his lack of deodorant. And does he ever use toothpaste ?
Whatever it doesn't hamper his ability to pull attractive women !

Travelledtheworld · 23/03/2017 22:42

...and I bet The Queen has plenty of pairs of BIG pants.

HelsinkiLights · 23/03/2017 23:04

Travel Grin
I think the Queen has a variety of styles & sizes of pants. As surely she must have I feel frisky tonight, I feel fat, I feel skinny, I feel on top of the world, I couldn't care less days Smile

Loracia · 24/03/2017 03:29

I'd want to disinfect him.... and his pants. Put them on a boil wash...lol
