To wonder why England wants to keep Scotland?

Or am I being really thick? NS has been causing no end of grief the past few years always complaining about how bad Scotland has it (despite receiving more money for Scotland than Scotland gives back) also promising English votes for English laws and then changing that when something she didn't like can up. Her financial plan depends on the North Sea oil. If Scotland keeps rights to that it'll last fifty years tops before oil runs out. She just seems to be a constant pain and wants special treatment which wales and NI don't ever seem to get. I do love Scotland but right now I'm inclined to cheerily wave them off and wish the good luck.

So you think that is untrue? The only people flinging around words like traitor and hate on this thread are the unionists (yoons for short)

I never realised that nats/yoons were deadly insults

egosumquisum1 · 19/03/2017 18:58

And people who want Scotland to have independence are being called racist?

These arguments sound so familiar.

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 18:58

Unionists hate being called yoons (I don't mind nat but stinking filthy nat does irritate)

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:59

I kwow people who hate the english. Very very much so too. It is not funny when you have an english accent.

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 18:59

Again - it's an essay on the 'independence supporters are racist' vs 'unionists are racist' - not a racist article in itself

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 19:00

All of it

I'm sorry gruff, but it's really hard to debate with someone who flings around words like "racist" and then refuses to back them up.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 19:00

I have been called a mongrel so yes

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 19:00

I, and my family, all.have very English accents...

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 19:01

I want to know what the other European countries are less tolerant of.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 19:01

I don't know where in scotland you live then if it has not been an issue for you.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 19:02

I want to know what the other European countries are less tolerant of

People expressing their religion in public.

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 19:02

My partner works in London, Slough, other places down south and is called 'sweaty sock' daily. He doesn't even think it's 'hate' just that the Sun etc normalises that. Also 'we subsidise you' and so on. He says the attitude of Londoners especially was quite an eye opener for him.

egosumquisum1 · 19/03/2017 19:03

I have been called a mongrel so yes

It's a massive head fuck up.

People from Europe who want to remain in the UK have been called awful names by people in the UK who want Brexit whilst people from Scotland who voted Brexit but want to remain in the UK have been called awful names by people from Scotland who want Scotland to leave the UK.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 19:03

I don't know where in scotland you live then if it has not been an issue for you

Maybe it's the personality not the nationality? If you speak to people in RL the way you speak to them on this thread Id imagine that could rub people up the wrong way?

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 19:04

France banned modest swimwear in many areas. The ecj has just banned headscarves, Hungary has not exactly sent out welcome parties for refugees.

It is bollocks that the eu are tolerant of minorities. Half the problems they have are due to poor treatment of minorities.

egosumquisum1 · 19/03/2017 19:04

People expressing their religion in public

Good thing the UK is so massively tolerant at the moment towards people who are different Hmm

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 19:05

It is my whole family that have had issues so no.

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 19:06

He said the London workers would ask him and the other nationalities 'why are you working here, no jobs where you're from?'

He was there because the companies have a huge shortage of skilled workers (in steel) and have to contract people in from Scotland, the North of England and other countries because London didn't have a steel industry.

The incomers were treated with disrespect to say the least. Not by every Londoner of course but there are always a few.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 19:06

It is my whole family that have had issues so no.

I am very sorry it has happened to you. Sad

Redactio · 19/03/2017 19:06

So finally Calyx you acknowledge it is about race. Your partner doesn't like Cockneys.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 19:07

So finally Calyx you acknowledge it is about race. Your partner doesn't like Cockneys

How the fuck did you get that, from what Calyx wrote?

Nyx · 19/03/2017 19:07

Redactio where did calyx say that?

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 19:08

I hate the sweaty sock thing

I never minded much the sasseach jibes.

It is genuine hate that bothers me and that is alive and well in Nikki scotland.

AgentCooper · 19/03/2017 19:10

The snp is not the fault of all scottish people. I think the whole uk should take part in a referenda banning nationalist governments in the devolved nations

gruffalo, would you really, really want to live in a country like that? I mean, I'd be delighted if UKIP no longer existed and I never had to see Farage's grotty coupon again but I recognise their right to exist.

Banning devolved regions rights to have nationalist governments is basically what Franco did to Catalunya during the Spanish Civil War and that is, correctly, recognised as hideously undemocratic. I don't think the whole of the UK should get to decide which parties can and cannot operate in devolved areas - that really is courting fascism.

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 19:11

Reductio - really??!

We are going to his best friend's wedding in July, he is a Cockney.

Seriously that's ridiculous.
