To wonder why England wants to keep Scotland?

Or am I being really thick? NS has been causing no end of grief the past few years always complaining about how bad Scotland has it (despite receiving more money for Scotland than Scotland gives back) also promising English votes for English laws and then changing that when something she didn't like can up. Her financial plan depends on the North Sea oil. If Scotland keeps rights to that it'll last fifty years tops before oil runs out. She just seems to be a constant pain and wants special treatment which wales and NI don't ever seem to get. I do love Scotland but right now I'm inclined to cheerily wave them off and wish the good luck.

It's all it is very racist indeed as is this article weegingerdug.

They are both horrifically racist publications.

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 18:41

Well quite baby. I guess its the same as the rest of the EU not being able to vote to see if they want to keep us or not. Its the way it works when a smaller, subdivision may want to leave.

I do think this should be the final say of the people of Scotland. If the result is to stay then fair enough. I wouldnt want another referendum! I actually said to my partner after this one was announced that i am tired of it and cant be arsed with the ehole debate but here i am again. Threads of English wanting rid of us and why would they want to "keep" us as if they are doing us a favour :/ what a union!

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:42

I voted brexit. One of the reasons was that European countries on the whole are less tolerant.

The ecj ruled it legal to ban headscarves at work the other day ffs.

Redactio · 19/03/2017 18:42

ItsAllgoing, perjhapS I wasn't clear. Campbell doesn't post racist stuff, but the commmentators on the forum certainly do. It's a bit like whisky2014 above who accused over 50% of the English of being racist. That in itself constitutes anti-English racism.

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 18:45

So what was it about? It wasnt because people were pissed about so many research and development grants!

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 18:46

Less tolerant about what Gruffalow?

Nyx · 19/03/2017 18:46

'Scottish nationalism is underpinned by a racist hated of the English'

  • so we keep being told. Seriously am sick of this lie. I - sigh - do not hate ' the English' and am 45 years old and Scottish and I do not know a single person who has told me they hate the English.

As we keep being told, repeating a lie doesn't make it true.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:46

It'sall posts stuff from wee ginger dug and that is very racist. Not just the comments

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 18:47

Redacto: i could say the same for daily mail comments on any scottish referendum article. Its horrible to read.

Redactio · 19/03/2017 18:47

Nyx
" I do not know a single person who has told me they hate the English"
Perhaps you should get out more.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:48

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2017/02/25/the-wrath-at-khan/amp/

This is the sort of shit it's all likes to read.

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 18:49

I dont hate any English person either. Gruff hates anyone who will vote yes.

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 18:49

I am going to post the link to Weegingerdug's article again (that Gruffalo is objecting to) let's see if anyone can see it's an essay on the 'independence supporters are racist' vs 'unionists are racist' - not a racist article in itself:

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 18:50

Cross post Gruffalo Smile

Redactio · 19/03/2017 18:50

Whisky, the Mail and Express have a lot to answer for, but their appalling behaviour does not justify the pro independence lobby playing the race card.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:50

It is hate speech aimed at british people as far as I can see.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:52

And particularly aimed at those who are coming from England and exercising a right to free speech or voting.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 18:53

Can you pull out the bits of the article that you find particularly racist?

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 18:54

No it's aimed at those people calling independence supporters racist.

Redactio · 19/03/2017 18:55

Calyx
Read this
"of the two sides in the Scottish constitutional debate the one which has the real problem with xenophobia, intolerance, racism, homophobia and sexism is the Unionist side"
Why treat this crap seriously? SNP supportes hate us, even Salmond called us Yoons.

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 18:56

Agree with Nyx re: nobody I know hates the English and with Whisky re: daily mail (and other MSM) commenters

egosumquisum1 · 19/03/2017 18:56

I voted brexit. One of the reasons was that European countries on the whole are less tolerant

So you voted Brexit but are concerned about the possible effect that Scotland having a vote to leave the UK would have on your family and future?

Can you see the irony?

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:57

All of it

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 18:57

"Try and point out to them that of the two sides in the Scottish constitutional debate the one which has the real problem with xenophobia, intolerance, racism, homophobia and sexism is the Unionist side, and you will be met with howls of outrage at your utter gall in suggesting that supporting the Union makes you a bigot."

Out of context quote much Redactio?
