To wonder why England wants to keep Scotland?

Or am I being really thick? NS has been causing no end of grief the past few years always complaining about how bad Scotland has it (despite receiving more money for Scotland than Scotland gives back) also promising English votes for English laws and then changing that when something she didn't like can up. Her financial plan depends on the North Sea oil. If Scotland keeps rights to that it'll last fifty years tops before oil runs out. She just seems to be a constant pain and wants special treatment which wales and NI don't ever seem to get. I do love Scotland but right now I'm inclined to cheerily wave them off and wish the good luck.

What deal is that Whisky?

Nyx · 19/03/2017 17:46

The SNP don't snipe about England. Or the English. In fact NS has just invited anyone from rUK who is dissatisfied with brexit to come here and be welcomed. No sniping there.

egosumquisum1 · 19/03/2017 17:47

I think more regional assemblies would also be good - to get power and money away from London.

Yorkshire is the same population as Scotland but many decisions about it are made in Whitehall.

More local say and money would be good.

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 17:49

Baby just a term of speech. I mean this is the kind of thing that drives me more and more to vote yes.

Babymamamama · 19/03/2017 17:51

Whisky: We'll surely I'm on your side then right? If you want to become independent and I support that?

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 18:00

Because you are wanting it out of hatred, not of you wanting Scotland to do the best for itself.

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 18:02

Seems like alot of English people are actually jealous we have an option to change.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:03

Baby mama mama. The snp is not the fault of all scottish people. I think the whole uk should take part in a referenda banning nationalist governments in the devolved nations.

I am in scotland and you have mo idea the hatred I have for the snp and their fucking nasty and idiotic ways.

I am british.... please do not allow the snp to irritate you in to wanting rid of a whole nation of people. Most of whom are friends.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:05

The SNP don't snipe about England. Or the English.

Surely this is a joke

Whisky2014 · 19/03/2017 18:05

The majority back the SNP though :)

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:06

What bollocks

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 19/03/2017 18:06

Of course they're bloody jealous! So what! I'd move there in a heartbeat, but a) I don't know anyone, b) I don't have a job, c) I'd be miles from family and d) the weather's always shit.

Headofthehive55 · 19/03/2017 18:07

nobody has been ignored Well apart from the majority who decided to stay in the union.

Seriously Hmm

What the people of the nation you were calling all racist yesterday you mean?

sluj · 19/03/2017 18:11

The gruffalowswife.
You are right I think it's very hard for us in England to see that there are people who don't want to leave. All we get on our news is NS saying how she speaks for Scotland and the people voted in the SNP to prove it. We are naturally on the defensive and start thinking "well, bugger off then".
In reality the stay voters for Scotland and the Brexiters in England have not had a voice because they have been shouted down and accused of being racist or unpatriotic by exercising their democratic rights.

I'll try and remember you are all there too next time NS comes on the TV but you need to let her know she doesn't speak for you all. Let the rUK know that too

Redactio · 19/03/2017 18:13

Whisky: "The majority back the SNP though"
Thats not true though is it?
Another statement from a nationalist , yet another lie.

Headofthehive55 · 19/03/2017 18:15

I wonder sometimes if people have really thought through the economics re running duplicate organisations. For example professional organisations overseeing the registration of nurses for example. Scottish nurses would have to fund their own, and neither country gets economies of scale. Furthermore separate countries will gave much less clout with large drug manufacturers naturally leading to higher costs for both countries. I don't see it helping healthcare at all.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 18:17

The SNP don't snipe about England. Or the English

I would like to see some examples.of.this too. They are very critical of WM, but WM is not equal to England / the English.

As for, "a vote for yes is a vote for death" - it's a bit longer than "referendum" but is much more memorable.

I'm beginning to be slightly suspicious that Gruff is actually a yes supporter, she's certainly doing a sterling job of discrediting no voters.

Thegruffalowswife · 19/03/2017 18:18

To all english people on this thread,

Scotland is going through a really hard time (as has england), some people have been looking for somewhere to lay the blame. The SNP has given them this by deriding englands every turn. Most scottish people do not fall for it and find the snp's cult style politics frightening. People have been immersed in a propoganda cloud.

People are now beginning to see them for what they are... dirty, blaming opportunists and traitors.

Please be patient with us while we try to fix it. Please do not make things worse by casting the majority of scotish people away . We are British too.

I can understand how upsetting it is to watch the snp playing games and being offensive, but please please do not mistake the snp for scotland.

We voted to remain.

Yours sincerely,

Gruffalo

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/03/2017 18:19

Erm. I'm English. Please don't presume to speak for me.

Calyx72 · 19/03/2017 18:19

Piglet you keep saying that but no one said 'all England is racist'.

Boulshired · 19/03/2017 18:20

Every opportunity the SNP get a chance they tell anyone who is listening that they have a mandate from the Scottish people. Between Corbyn and Robertson it would be hard to guess who uses the word mandate the most.

Nyx · 19/03/2017 18:20

I want Scotland to be friends and neighbours with England, not subjects or enemies fgs
