or at some point this month?

And I know there is a EU board tucked away somewhere but I'm interested in everyone's views.

OP posts:

I agree with you toast.

And I will be Thrilled to finally have all this navel gazing over and done with, lets get it done and start to move forward.

Applebite · 13/03/2017 13:36

I find MyPhotos' post quite interesting. She started somewhere on the continent, now lives in England, would consider Scotland but will go somewhere in the EU.

Agreed, purits.

As for tomorrow/article 50, I am still firmly swimming in that river in Egypt. it's nice and warm in here...

ShatnersWig · 13/03/2017 13:36

History, I suspect, will treat David Cameron very, very badly. He should be ashamed of trying to sort out the divisions within his own party before the best interests of the country.

MyPhotos · 13/03/2017 13:37

"No loyalty to community, nation or the bigger picture; just what currently suits her family. That's the EU dream.hmm"

That's funny PURITS?! I am:

  • a high rate tax payer in a medical profession (educated in the UK) so am contributing to the tax pot for the smooth running of this country.
  • have volunteered for various charities over the years and am quite tight with friends, neighbours, dc's schools so feel really happy and settled in my community Smile
  • I have dual nationality and used to be proud to be British, but not so much after Brexit.

PURITS I am lucky that me and my family have options and can lead successful lives in various settings. Obviously you haven't got those options available to you but then, you are a Leaver and will be very, very happy in brave new England-Wales. I sure as heck won't be feeling sorry for people such as you when the shit hits the fan here.

The A50 trigger

breakneckspeed · 13/03/2017 13:38

I agree Shatners.

MyPhotos · 13/03/2017 13:39

Brilliant BADDERS. Brexit arms Weatherspoons must have shut its doors today and all the pissheads are headed to this thread with glee and pitchforks. lol

PoundlandUK · 13/03/2017 13:40

Embarrassment to be British. Pity for those who have been so royally screwed and don't even realise it yet.

Crumbs1 · 13/03/2017 13:42

Truly saddened and concerned for the world our children will inherit. Miffed that people are either that nasty and xenophobic/introspective or so ill informed they chose to follow Farage and Johnson.
Slightly smug that many of those who chose this path are likely to be the ones who suffer most from the effects.
Horrified about increase in far right leaning political support.
Incredulous at the self serving duplicity of many politicians.

MyPhotos · 13/03/2017 13:43

MyPhotos · 13/03/2017 13:45

Small minded, hateful and envious too how very unattractive n'est pas?

shakeyospeare · 13/03/2017 13:45

I'm sick of people saying, the people voted, it is what it is, etc etc.

It should never have gone to a vote.

Since it did, it should never have been allowed to run the way it did - all the blatant lies and fear and negativity and there should have been a clear plan and strategy and decent and honest communication around it - instead, it was run like a who-can-shout-the-loudest-competition and honestly, there is so much to worry about that your average voter won't care about, and those implications will cause problems down the line.

Many people voted out of fear and ignorance and because they were unhappy - not because they actually thought it would happen.

God help us all.

Flumpernickel · 13/03/2017 13:46

I have never posted on the brexit arms, or been to a wetherspoons my. Sorry to dissapoint you. Wink

HTH.

Orangebird69 · 13/03/2017 13:46

Excited, curious, nervous. Excited mostly though.

purits · 13/03/2017 13:46

Obviously?Confused
I am a professional, too. I could probably lead "successful lives in various settings" but I like my country and can't think of anywhere I'd rather be.

springflowers11 · 13/03/2017 13:46

I think the EU will unravel. It was ok at the beginning when it was us and a fewer similar countries, but what do places like Hungary bring?

LadyPW · 13/03/2017 13:47

About time.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 13/03/2017 13:47

No loyalty to community, nation or the bigger picture; just what currently suits her family

There's nothing wrong with that. There's also nothing wrong with staying put in your home town (like I have).
The idea that I am somehow a "better" uk citizen because I grew up in the U.K. and still live locally is baffling.

Love the picture badders

A4Document · 13/03/2017 13:47

MyPhotos calls for European unification have existed since the early 20th century and developed slowly since then in different guises.

Its fulfilment is now a distinct possibility. Very unfortunately, it isn't just "superstate paranoia". If only the EU was as benign as you think!

There is no conspiracy. The EU is completely open about its superstate plan

springflowers11 · 13/03/2017 13:47

we should have had a referendum about going into the Single Market. We were never given that vote, the politicians imposed it on us.

I think you will find there was a referendum!!

Natsku · 13/03/2017 13:48

Interested to see what happens, glad I'm not longer in the UK, and worried about how it might affect my mum (not British citizen)

noblegiraffe · 13/03/2017 13:49

So when the vote was over, it was 'of course we'll stay in the single market, of course we'll stay in the customs union, of course EU residents here and British residents abroad will be protected'

But the Tories have said 'fuck it' to all of that, and reckon we can do some great deals without actually having the negotiators, and the future for so many people is uncertain.

On top of that, what the fuck is going to happen in Ireland? Oh, and we might lose Scotland. Is Gibraltar sorted?

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to the shitshow that the Tories are about to put on. God help us all.

Grilledaubergines · 13/03/2017 13:49

I feel positive about it and am pleased it's finally happening.
