keeplooking · 12/03/2017 20:21

it's not someone posting a picture of the lovely birthday cake they've made

Shock Birthday cake? Full of refined sugar and horrid food colouring probably. But anything home made passes the MN food test! Grin

Trifleorbust · 12/03/2017 20:23

ChippieBeanAndHorro

Nothing wrong with being conscious of healthy choices but most people are more balanced. Each to their own.

PetalMettle · 12/03/2017 20:28

Why's everyone going on about baby rice? I thought that was meant to be shit nutritionally speaking
@catwise - I do Any firm
White fish (Tesco do a cod loin that works well if you can get over the environment guilt), white Flour, beaten egg, breadcrumbs. 160 fan for about 20 minutes.
You can freeze any you don't need before cooking and use within a month.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 12/03/2017 20:28

I'd be so upset if somebody gave this to DD.

Hmm Wow.

Maybe I do belong in The Other Place. As long as they're not feeding my DD crack and vodka I'd just be grateful that they've taken over dinnertime for an evening Grin

Marmalade85 · 12/03/2017 20:33

The 11m old will probably eat 3 spoonfuls. Hardly justifies the histrionics on this thread.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 20:37

but most people are more balanced

Maybe. but being balanced would be one or maybe (if it's a one off) two unhealthy fried food items imo.
Not 3. And sooo much of all 3 items. And none of them for a baby.

ovaries

Well, if I'm home I'm the one that does dinnertime and I love doing it.

And yes, crack and vodka would obviously be worse, I guess...

dontbesillyhenry · 12/03/2017 20:48

Christ alive....the drama...the sharp intakes of breath, the cats bum mouths, the tutting and hoiking of bosoms equivalent to hearing about a child being put to sleep in a drug den with a spoon and a hypodermic needle in its hand.
Really Hmm
FTR my fifteen month old would polish that lot off. He ate two chicken teddies the other day, but they were from marks not Iceland so maybe I'm not such a cunty mother. And today he has had homemade beef massaman, not a breaded product in sight ShockShock

Sparklingbrook · 12/03/2017 20:53

It is all very dramatic isn't it? Bit like the primary school competitive lunchbox threads. Grin

dontbesillyhenry · 12/03/2017 20:59

It really is sparkling...very amusing also

Soubriquet · 12/03/2017 21:03

My Ds had fish fingers tonight.. only 2 though. And a good handful of chips...buts it ok..they were homemade chips

Dd had chicken nuggets. She doesn't like fish fingers

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 12/03/2017 21:03

And yes, crack and vodka would obviously be worse, I guess...

"I guess" Grin Grin Grin

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 21:05

Well, scratch the I guess, I guess Wink

Idk, I'm starting to think I may be super unreasonable. But the mere thought of the contents of this plate in DD's stomach? It just makes me shudder.

So much flour, fat and all this white/yellow food... :-(

dontbesillyhenry · 12/03/2017 21:09

Chippie she will no doubt like far worse as she grows up fantasises about Fray Bentos pie in a tin

Trifleorbust · 12/03/2017 21:09

So much flour, fat and all this white/yellow food... :-(

I do have to ask...did yellow food DO something to you? Something unspeakable?

MollyHuaCha · 12/03/2017 21:12

It gave me Crohn's disease.

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 21:15

trifle

Not really.

I used to be quite athletic so my trainer had me on a diet. So, I guess I did that until I got pregnant with DC1. And whilst I have really relaxed my diet now that I'm pregnant again...

Soo much processed food (which is often yellow. I mean, cheese, white bread, white pasta, crisps, fries, Rösti... All of them are yellow.) All these foods were cheat day foods...
But I love pepperoni and sweet potatoes etc. Which are also yellow.

I have just never eaten these 3 things in one meal. Even when I was a teen I needed to make sure I stayed inthe same weightclass...

Plus, my sister is a vegan. So, we never had a lot of food like that. If anything one non-vegan item. Never 3.

Oops, that's a long response.

RandomDent · 12/03/2017 21:19

Pepperoni is yellow?

Birdsbeesandtrees · 12/03/2017 21:23

I like the Birdseye battered fish fingers on a sandwich.

I'm a terrible person and I will die young because of my bad food choices. But it will be worth it.

Trainspotting1984 · 12/03/2017 21:24

Brilliant thread. Love the poster who guessed how much fish is in fish fingers and got it wrong

What's so bad about flour anyway?

ChippieBeanAndHorro · 12/03/2017 21:25

pepperoni

well, yellow, red or green, right? Confused

keeplooking · 12/03/2017 21:28

pepperoni

well, yellow, red or green, right?

That's peppers, isn't it? Confused

Birdsbeesandtrees · 12/03/2017 21:29

I'm fairly sure flour is not actually some kind of poison. No one objects to it in cake Hmm

Butterymuffin · 12/03/2017 21:29

It's amazing how McCains stay in business, given the level of horror generally expressed on MN about oven chips. Captain Birdseye likewise.

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 12/03/2017 21:30

Plus, my sister is a vegan. So, we never had a lot of food like that.

For the record, this is a vegan dinner!

Look at all the yellow crap.

Oysterbabe · 12/03/2017 21:33

I've never seen the issue with babies and chips. What's wrong with some potato and fat? Seems like the sort of stuff babies need to grow. My DD 14 months has them all the time. I make them by chopping up a potato, tossing in oil and roasting though. Are they less evil that way?
