How old is she? If youve shown her pictures of the haircut and she's up for it then of course yanbu. I'm sure there are apps that you can change hair on to give you a rough idea

It's fine if you think it's necessary but I had one as a kid on my Mum's insistence, hated it and hate how it looks in photos of that time. Is there a reason a short bob won't work? They are super cute on kids.

Winnie I do that, what makes you think I don't? she is constantly getting her hair out of her face when it's down and when she has food on her hands/paint, etc. she ends up with it all in her hair. She hates it tied up, she cries when I do it.

Have you sought DD's opinion, shown her pictures etc?

I was given mandatory short haircuts as a young child because long "didn't suit me" and I would cry every time it was cut. It didn't stop my mum from dictating my hairdressing requirements until I was about 12.

To make matters worse, my DSIs who was all of a year older than me always had very long hair and was allowed to keep it that way.

She told me it was to make her life easier. I was made fun of constantly. Don't do it. Just brush it, go bob or slightly longer if you must. Your the adult.

I love her long hair I enjoy doing it, why are you assuming I'm too lazy to sort her hair out??? She can absolutely have it longer when she's old enough to not wipe her dirty hands into it when it's in her face or cry when it's tied up and pull it out. It's a nightmare at nursery. Why are you assuming I'll make her have it short the rest of her life?

It depends on whether your dd wants short hair or not.

A mum of a girl in my dc's nursery cut her long hair into a short pixie cut because the girl didn't like her hair being tied up. The poor girl refused to take her hat off at school as she hated her hair so much.

If your dd is happy to have it short then go for it. If she doesn't want it long but hates it tied up then put clips in/use a headband to keep it out of her face.

If your dd is in agreement I think it's a good idea. It would be more practical for your dd by the sound of it and much easier to keep clean and tidy.

After 3 dd i have never felt the need to cut their hair off. I just wondered what else you could do.

Go for it! I've got a pic of me and my mum when im about 2 or 3 and I have a pixie, it's really nice and I've cut my hair into a pixie twice as an adult. Really quick and easy from washing/drying but need really regular trims to stop the mullet look!
