I've never been abroad, things have just gotten better financially, it's meant booking a few holidays.. I wondered of anyone would care to share what their favourite destination has been?

Cyprus
Florida (we don't do Disney, so much else to see/do)

Bug28 · 09/03/2017 09:39

I love Italy, particularly Sorrento or Lake Garda.

Pre-children - South Africa, without a shadow of a doubt. Went with low expectations (H's choice) and cried on safari I was so moved by the beauty of the animals in their natural environment.

Post children - skiing at Christmas in Italy - such a fabulous family time, lots of grappa, ice cream and pizza. No tv, or wifi, just spent all day every day together and it was brilliant.

Also agree however that holiday expectations change when you have children and anything that keeps them happy (go karts & water park in Holland spring to mind!) is great!

Laos. Incredibly beautiful, incredible food, incredible people.

California, my dream road trip and Ive been lucky enough to do it twice. Closer to home it has to be France and Italy.

Loved the Phillipines and the Grenadines as a couples holiday with DH.
Corsica with the DC but they'd say surfing off the north coast of Cornwall one May half term, we had glorious weather and M&S for good food and friends to hang out with.

Iceland and Croatia. Very different places but equally memorable.

Elendon · 09/03/2017 09:51

In the UK and Northern Ireland, it has to be North Antrim and Derry. Gorgeous.

My favourite place to visit - Egypt - hasn't been safe to visit for several years now but offers the Pyramids, temples, tombs, Nile cruises, all the history you could ever want and sun, all for a very reasonable cost. My next favourite holiday was safari and Cape Town in South Africa but costs £££. I've always loved Paris. Lots to see and do and Eurostar takes you into the heart of the city.

PutThatPomBearBack · 09/03/2017 10:12

Funnily enough... Egypt.

Wouldn't go back now if you paid me though!

PutThatPomBearBack · 09/03/2017 10:12

GloriousGoosebumps · 09/03/2017 10:38

PutThatPomBearBack what was so awful about your holiday in Egypt that you wouldn't go back?

trinity0097 · 09/03/2017 10:40

Best places I've visited were New York and Washington.

My favourite hotel though for a relaxing doing nothing holiday is Alexander the Great in Paphos. The allocated sunloungers and excellent food are the highlights.

Whathaveilost · 09/03/2017 10:42

Iceland closely followed by ...............wait for it.........Belgiu.
The first one with teenagers and the second one with primary school age children.

Skiathos is a beautiful island, so lush and green, beautiful pine forests bordering the beach, it's like another world.

I thoroughly enjoyed Amsterdam for a mini break.

deblet · 09/03/2017 10:51

StressedOutTonight · 09/03/2017 11:04

Malaysia. A few nights in Kuala Lumpur and the rest of the holiday in Langkawi. KL is awesome, very cosmopolitan. In Langkawi our resort was in a beach and also a rainforest so ahead of us was the beach and behind is the rainforest with monkeys etc

Food, people and surroundings are amazing

rainbowdash888 · 09/03/2017 11:06

Thailand. Beautiful, relaxed, lovely food lots of culture.

meganorks · 09/03/2017 11:07

Favourite adventuring type place would be Peru - machu pitchu, cusco, lots of other ancient sites too and other lovely cities and places to visit - trios to amazon; lake titicaca
Favourite country I have visited - Brazil. Amazing beaches and beautiful places to visit and just a real vibrancy to the place
Post kids - Italy. Planning to go back soon. We went to Puglia and it was beautiful; lots of lovely towns to visit, fantastic food everywhere and beautiful beaches for the kids.
