I've never been abroad, things have just gotten better financially, it's meant booking a few holidays.. I wondered of anyone would care to share what their favourite destination has been?

If you want the Maldives then you have to go for at least a month because it takes about 3 weeks to get there!

skerrywind · 09/03/2017 07:00

Seychelles was amazing, or some of the far flung Indonesian Islands, Bandas etc. just stunning.

CPtart · 09/03/2017 07:01

The Maldives or Mauritius for the beaches.
Caribbean for the vibe.
Barcelona best city.

CherryLips1980 · 09/03/2017 07:02

Iceland. I adore the place.

abeandhalo · 09/03/2017 07:02

I love Florida for pure fun, and the Monterey area of California is the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

Shiraznowplease · 09/03/2017 07:23

Think it depends what type of holiday... pre children Australia/Las Vegas/New York/Capri but post children a eurocamp caravan holiday in France!! Children had a blast, made friends, enjoyed lots of activity and my dh actually went a whole three days without 'just a quick phonecall' or I just will quickly send this email/read this report etc..." plus Lots of French wine and cheese

Nonagoninfinity · 09/03/2017 07:30

Iceland, no contest. It's breathtakingly beautiful and wild. I'm desperate to go back again.

aliceinwanderland · 09/03/2017 07:33

My best holidays have been Australia and Mexico and Florida.
However all before DC.

Our favorite holiday was a week in Spain with the (young) kids...We had an amazing time and it didn't cost alot (compared to long haul holidays etc)

We swam and ate icea cream all day at the beach, I can honestly say the sea was warmer and more beautiful than when we went Mexico! It was crystal clear water you could see tiny fish swimming around

At night we used to go for early dinner and have tapas and share a jug of sangria, then move onto an Irish bar with a soft play and bouncy castle in its beer garden so kids would play while we sat and chatted.

Best holiday ever and we cried on leaving day Sad

DuggeeHugs · 09/03/2017 07:58

Can't get to just one so:

Hong Kong
Washington DC
Florida (drive all over, don't stick to Orlando)
Copenhagen
Leuven, Belgium

AnoiseAnnoysanOyster · 09/03/2017 08:02

Australia. Amazing, loved it.

If you want something smaller then Kefalonia is beautiful, as is Italy. Stunning.

travailtotravel · 09/03/2017 08:06

Honestly? Iran and Mongolia.

Rosa · 09/03/2017 08:10

have been to far flung places and have been very lucky Oz, Mauritius, Seychelles, Thailand , Africa, Nz and lots of places in europe and pretty much loved all of them.... just back from a week in Fuertevntura that we went with no expectations at all- ( Infact dh and I were almost expecting it to be a bit mediocre ) It was a last minute package. We all had a ball! The dds loved it, the walks on the beach were beautiful, food and wine were good, it was relaxing ( which was the main aim ) . The other place we like as a family is the South Tyrol- SOme easy walks, stunning views , you can lie up / on a mountain and watch the view for hours. Easy family cycle path 30km into Austria ( and take the train back) .

maitaimojito · 09/03/2017 08:11

I love Italy - the lakes, Amalfi Coast, Milan, Rome, Venice, Florence. Amazing scenery, lovely people and food.

For pure relaxation, The Maldives (whoever said it takes 3 weeks to get there must be thinking of somewhere else - you can get a direct flight from London. Otherwise it's 7 hours to Dubai then 4-5 on to Male which is not much longer than getting to the States).

I also loved New York and we went on a day trip to Niagara Falls.

The Greek islands are beautiful. I haven't been but Santorini is on my list of destinations.

If you have young kids Disney at Florida is great.

SierraJensen · 09/03/2017 08:15

Hawaii. Great to see an active volcano! Such a beautiful place. We love the Big Island and the North shore of Oahu but not the touristy Waikiki area.

Alleycat1 · 09/03/2017 08:19

The Amalfi Coast in spring or Autumn.
Hawaii
Alaska
Iceland
Amsterdam or Bruges for a short holiday
I love S. America, Bolivia in particular, but the above named destinations are safer.

Yika · 09/03/2017 08:19

New York is unforgettable - but VERY full on. I love it.

Canada and California are both fantastic - very diverse, very friendly, superb quality of life and amazing nature.

In Europe: Greek islands. Slovenia for Pristine nature and friendliness.

BenjaminLinus · 09/03/2017 08:24

Texas. Loved it there.

Florida, a few days in Orlando for the kids, longer in the Keys snorkelling.

58NotBothered · 09/03/2017 08:26

Austria
Sri Lanka
Kenya
Tobago

hellocleveland · 09/03/2017 08:29

Our favourite holidays by a mile have been New York. I quite often go alone and love it.

The other is Edinburgh Fringe in August followed by a tour of the Scottish highlands. We've done this quite a few times, obviously good weather helps enormously which you can't always guarantee in Scotland.

Giraffesaretootall · 09/03/2017 08:31

Maldives/ Sri Lanka
New York
Las Vegas & Grand Canyon
Finland for a winter sports week - amazing!

All above were great, I would say maldives and Finland top the list for different reasons. It depends on what sort of thing you want really.

londonrach · 09/03/2017 08:34

Maderia!!! But not been to alot of the world so best so far....
