I've never been abroad, things have just gotten better financially, it's meant booking a few holidays.. I wondered of anyone would care to share what their favourite destination has been?

Pre kids - Iceland. Unbelievable place, will definitely go back one day.

Small kids - Isle of Wight - can't beat it, lovely beaches, beautiful countryside and loads to do if it's wet.

Older kids - still looking

NotCitrus · 09/03/2017 11:15

Cities to be a tourist in: Florence, New York, Venice, San Diego

Break from home with small kids - Isle of Wight, NW Somerset, Bavaria, Inverness

Totally amazing foreign experiences - Tokyo and Kyoto, Baku (Azerbaijan)

Best place ever- New York! A group of us did this and then a road trip across NY state to Niagara Falls and went on the maid of the mist boat under the waterfalls, was amazing.

Other than that I love Cologne in Germany, Kusadasi in Turkey and my home town of course- Liverpool.

I'd recommend an overland safari in Kenya and Tanzania, ending with relaxation in Zanzibar. We did ours with Exodus. Truly out of this world experience every day for 15 days and quite cost effective in comparison to 'luxury safari' style tours. It was a life-changer if a trip for me and DH back in 2002.

My favourites though would be Oz and Namibia. I must have an affinity with wilderness and rust-red earth....

For ski-ing it's got to be Gargellen on the Austrian border with Switzerland. Small but breathtakingly lovely.

elQuintoConyo · 09/03/2017 11:33

Sicily. Not v touristy so you'll have the island to yourself.

San Francisco and we drove up to Mendocino and down past Monterey along the coast. Not interested in LA or Vegas.

France and the Pyrenees around Carcassone for hiking, swimming in rivers, white water rafting and climbing all the Catar castles.

kimann · 09/03/2017 11:34

Mexico Smile
Singapore (may be biased though as I'm from there!)

kimann · 09/03/2017 11:36

btw - i love that a few people hv mentioned singapore - we are so tiny as a country that i always feel we get overlooked Grin

mummy2oneandtwo · 09/03/2017 11:38

We toured America; Philadelphia, NYC, Vegas, Palm Springs, Laguna beach and LA, it was an amazing trip and great to see so many different places!

BoredOnMatLeave · 09/03/2017 11:42

We did route 66 which was amazing. Also loved North Cyprus.

CelticPromise · 09/03/2017 12:22

Eating, drinking, walking in New Zealand.

Wildlife and exploring with little DS in Costa Rica.

Learning to dive in Fiji.

I love the UK also, especially Wales.

bruffin · 09/03/2017 12:42

I forgot about Sicily, we had a really lovely holiday in Taormina

IsabelleSE19 · 09/03/2017 13:23

South Africa - best food (and wine of course!) I've ever had on a holiday, and the safaris we did were an amazing experience. And Cape Town is beautiful. Would love to take the DCs when they're a bit older and we're not so skint.

Also Greece is my personal obsession - get edgy if I can't go back every few years or so.

mollyminniemo · 09/03/2017 13:31

Maldives too, can only dream of returning...

US road trip- Vegas-LA-San Fran

Mallorca generally- road tripping around, staying North and South, 1 of most beautiful- and affordable- places on earth Smile

mollyminniemo · 09/03/2017 13:31

Tuscany too!

Kiroro · 09/03/2017 13:32

Japan

Bitchycocktailwaitress · 09/03/2017 13:33

Maldives as well! It's fucking shagadellic, no other words describe it!!!

hungryhippo90 · 09/03/2017 13:35

Gosh, it sounds like some of you are so well travelled.

Going to Orlando in a few months, have booked Mexico for next year (I booked so in advance it's about £150 a month until 3 months before we go!)

Hoping to get a few little weekend trips in to cities in europe,

Long term im hoping to make it to Barbados, Jamaica. There are so many places to go!

Sadly I think I'm going to be the worst kind of tourist, and I'll spend forever on the beaches!

Depending on what you want from a Caribbean holiday, Jamaica is amazing if you want to be busy and Grenada is fab if you just want to relax. If you want luxury, stay at Sandals Smile

MuseumOfCurry · 09/03/2017 14:57

Cambodia/Laos. Amazing.

We're going to Sri Lanka in 2 weeks, bruffin, glad to hear you liked it.

Closer to home, we love a road trip to the French Alps anytime - summer or winter.

MuseumOfCurry · 09/03/2017 14:58

have booked Mexico for next year

Tulum is glorious. Where are you going? We drove around the Yucatan a few years ago and explored all the Mayan ruins.

spaghettigirl · 09/03/2017 14:59

Majorca
