I'm a nervous wreck right now Sad

Will it replace sex as a protected characteristic? Does that mean that women will have no legal protection at all?

I'm scared Sad.

Vestal

I wonder how they feel about the LGBT flag at this school being removed because the one transgender person objected.

www.lgbtqnation.com/2017/03/high-school-takes-rainbow-flag/

Or George Soros donating $28 million to further the trans agenda including the merging of LGBT groups to be called 'The Global Action for Trans Equality'. The initial article is at the top of the page. The comments are interesting.

Of the three friends who leapt at me for posting the Jenny Murray interview, one is gay. I know she's fairly liberal and I think it's the shared experience thing. But she completely denies that anyone is pushing children to declare they are trans based on preferences.

Yes bedroom thing is good point. However I don't know what their stance would be if the male child declared he wanted to be a girl?

Or maybe families with 2 boys can get a bigger house by saying one of them feels like a girl and will need 'her' own room now?

This is obviously nonsensical, but will probably lead to the complete end of any and all women's spaces and privacy.

Because once a family with two girls declares one of their daughters a boy and demands more rooms, then people will yell "benefit fraud" and get angry, angrier than most people would ever get for the sake of (actual) women, and THEN the problem will be "solved" by getting rid of any right to privacy the group "women" has.
And at that point, actual women won't even care much anymore, because they will have been forced to undress in front of males for years already.

WobblyLegs5 · 10/03/2017 16:02

Actually maybe women on here might like to force a premptive protest by doing that ; ) anyone in social housing with the right aged kids of sane gender??

Skooba · 10/03/2017 16:09

A point I have brought up before is NHS health statistics. These are recorded going back, I would guess, to the start of the NHS and provide valuable medical information.

But now we will have women with prostate cancer and fewer women with breast cancer as transwomen will be included and are unlikely to suffer from it (mens stats being much lower) etc etc it will skew the stats.

joystir59 · 10/03/2017 16:23

Something else that will become skewed, and this makes me cry with rage- men who identify as women and commit rape will skew the stats on violent crime. Currently 93% of violent crime is perpetrated by men. Going forward that will change as increasing numbers of mock women commit rape. You really couldn't make it up

merrymouse · 10/03/2017 22:20

The thing that makes me cry with rage is the whole concept that gender is this thing that really, really matters, more than the physical fact of your body.

Pretty much everything that people classify as 'feminine' is just 'human' - dresses, empathy, shoes etc. etc.

Obviously there are hormonal differences between men and women and they do affect behaviour, but that is a measurable medical fact, not an identity.

It's as though the idea that people could be free of gender constraints is too scary, so instead society is reinforcing the idea that everybody has a fixed identity that somehow exists outside their body.

38cody · 11/03/2017 00:23

I didn't understand this - I don't want to undress in changing rooms in front if men no matter who they identify as and actually call me old fashioned - or worse / I don't care - I don't want my kids to think their gender is fucking optional.
It seems as my teen son said 'Trans is the new black'
Disgusting, thanks for highlighting this o - I will be reading with interest and writing to my MP.

bringonthetrumpets · 11/03/2017 05:50

This made me laugh so hard! Magdalen Berns lays it all out on the table.

Skooba · 11/03/2017 09:14

Brilliant!

EnormousTiger · 11/03/2017 09:16

Good points on rooms. Is this going to be the way to get a bigger council house - one of your two teenage girls declares as a boy and then the council must give you that extra bed room?

QuentinSummers · 11/03/2017 09:17

Not sure if people are still following the thread but here's an example of 2 women being asked to leave a refuge in Canada after one refused to share a room with a trans woman early in transition. The women were told that is illegal to discriminate against transgender women. I believe Canada has gender self I'D laws

Biologically male prisoners, presenting female, in male prisons are at risk of rape and must be protected.

Surely male prisoners presenting male are at risk of rape. Maybe that's ok Hmm and only the Ts count.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/cifamerica/2012/feb/21/us-more-men-raped-than-women

Article from 2012. Funny we don't often hear about this.

RakingUpBadMemories · 11/03/2017 09:42

Not at all ok, Skooba, but that article was specifically about trans prisoners.

Would you argue instead that all male prisoners should be separated from, erm, all other male prisoners?

RakingUpBadMemories · 11/03/2017 09:44

Not the article from the Grauniad, but the previous one.

RakingUpBadMemories · 11/03/2017 09:45

Totally agree that male on male violence also needs to stop. How should men be tackling this?

Skooba · 11/03/2017 09:48

I was just wanting to make the point that all prisoners are at risk of rape in male US prisons. The headlines make it seem that it is just because they are Trans and therefore need moved but in fact all inmates are at risk so why should they get priority treatment, why should their wellbeing trump the other inmates who appear to be equally at risk.
I think someone did already make that point above.

VestalVirgin · 11/03/2017 10:59

Would you argue instead that all male prisoners should be separated from, erm, all other male prisoners?

That would make more sense than only separating out the ones who have a certain kind of feelz in their heads, wouldn't it? In fact, that would be the single one thing one could do to 100% end prison rape.

It would certainly make more sense than putting some of the males into women's prisons so they can rape the women there.

You see, prison rape that results in pregnancy and childbirth with all the dangers to a woman's life that entails IS worse than just prison rape on its own. People used to know that and used to care about women.

AgentBlue · 11/03/2017 11:50

Magdalen Berns Is just wonderful

Sorry I needed to say that, but she is

Scissorcisters · 11/03/2017 13:42

Explains my concerns pretty well.

Datun · 11/03/2017 14:24

She's almost got it right. But her distinctions are strange. She said she loved Theryn Mayer. A transwoman who was aghast at Danielle Muscato because how could he possibly be a woman when he didn't look like one. Unlike Theryn who wore make up and a dress. Unfortunately Theryn finished her rant about Danielle Muscato with shouting out 'suck my dick'.

But she is definitely right about intensive porn use.
