I'm a nervous wreck right now Sad

Will it replace sex as a protected characteristic? Does that mean that women will have no legal protection at all?

I'm scared Sad.

Also in Canada, the university that brought in unisex shower facilities had to put many of them back to single sex use after women were subjected to acts of voyeurism. I suppose you will ignore this too like you ignored the fact about women being assaulted in shelters and prisons by males identifying as trans. If you allow basically all men into female spaces, these things are going to happen. Question is do you see women being assaulted and raped as collateral damage in the quest for 'tolerance'? I certainly don't.

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 09/03/2017 00:55

Tolerance is the only way to live life.

Again, this thread is not about trans gendered people. I have lots of sympathy for anyone who is genuinely suffering from gender dysphoria and I hope they get all the support they need.

This thread is about gender self identification which may be made law in the UK at some point.

People do understand what "self identification" means, right? Surely it's not difficult to understans. Why are so many people feigning ignorance about what it means and sticking their fingers in their ears whilst accusing us of being bigots?

Sorry that was to Duck. Hopefully now that he/she is aware that these things are actually happening elsewhere they might stop being so naive.

Do I need to break the term gender self identification down and post the dictionary definitions of each word before people start to get it?

Whoever mentioned 'collateral damage in the name of tolerance', you are so right.

If this law is passed and even one woman suffers as a direct result; women have been let down.

Once again.

I'm sensing a common theme through the eras... weird that isn't it?!

I am Spartacus.

Duck90 · 09/03/2017 01:04

bev I really don't think I used the word "mean" to describe posters on here.

theworld none of my posts have said trans gender!

Duck90 · 09/03/2017 01:06

bev you have come across as difficult, but each to their own. I really value different opinions.

AvaCrowder · 09/03/2017 01:07

page completely agree.

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 09/03/2017 01:08

I'm still completely Shock that the CPS are now saying that girls who are uncomfortable with changing in front of boys who identify as girls are committing a hate crime. Really now?!

HTF can feeling uncomfortable be considered a hate crime? Feeling uncomfortable is exactly that, a feeling! It's not something that can be controlled and if you feel uncomfortable, you feel uncomfortable!

Surely that cannot be right?

Jesus Christ!

none of my posts have said trans gender!

Then who were talking about when you were talking about tolerance and protecting minority groups?

OP posts:
TheWorldAccordingToToads · 09/03/2017 01:12

Surely in order for there to be a hate crime there still needs to be an actual crime? The hate bit itself (or in this case feeling uncomfortable Hmm) is not a crime surely?

The mind boggles Confused

OP posts:
Pawpainting · 09/03/2017 01:15

More like a thought crime tbh

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 09/03/2017 01:16

What about boys who are uncomfortable changing in front of a trans boy? Does the CPS say that those boys are committing a hate crime too? Or is it just the girls who are expected yet again to move aside and put up and shut up?

theworld indiviuals in the world who don't confirm to the "norm" is it really that hard to comprehend. People who feel they fit in, in a different way and feel no harm to others.

Um, that's nice I guess, but what does it have to do with gender self identification?

OP posts:
PageStillNotFound404 · 09/03/2017 01:23

What does an individual who doesn't conform to the norm have to do with a predatory straight man who has sussed out that all he has to do is say "today I feel like a woman" and hey presto, access to spaces full of vulnerable women? Because that's what we're talking about here, and that's what is really happening in places where this has already become law, as has been pointed out to you more than once.

I thought it was obvious, sorry?, people who identify as a gender, different from birth, may be quite nice individuals. Your posts make me feel quite sad, but each to their own.

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 09/03/2017 01:34

Do I really need to break the term GENDER SELF IDENTIFICATION down and post the dictionary definitions of each word?

Do I really need to do this before some people finally get it?

Are you being deliberately obtuse? No one is saying that they aren't nice people. We are talking about predators claiming to be transgender to gain access to vulnerable women in female spaces. These things have happened, as many posters have pointed out but you just keep ignoring that.

Duck90 · 09/03/2017 01:37

bev you asked so many questions, I would not know where to start. Smile As you said no one really knows where this will end up.
