I'm a nervous wreck right now Sad

Will it replace sex as a protected characteristic? Does that mean that women will have no legal protection at all?

I'm scared Sad.

bevand paw I neither said hysterical nor mean. You are reading things into my posts that are not there.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 09/03/2017 00:24

How do you tell the difference between not being shy/body confident and taking your time getting dressed so you can dry off from your shower vs flashing? I think it's a Texan women prison where the transwomen inmates are ogling the female inmates and are masturbating in the open plan showers, which the female inmates are complaining about. This stuff is already happening.

Pawpainting · 09/03/2017 00:26

I would assume that women who have/are in DV will continue to be a protected group and exempt from changes.

They won't be, it's already happened in other countries. There have also been cases of female prisoners being raped and sexually assaulted by trans inmates who were sent to women's prisons

Tell that to the women who were sexually assaulted in a woman's shelter in Canada after a man who self identified as a woman was allowed in.

That would be no problemo Mortificado because it would be a ladyee dick

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 09/03/2017 00:29

The CPS and Ministry of Justice has ALREADY advised schools that if girls feel uncomfortable undressing in front of a boy that IDs as a girl and complains then this is a section 4a public order offence and is a HATE CRIME

Shock Jesus Christ, you cannot be fucking serious!

There's nothing wrong in seeing a penis - when I choose to. Seeing a stranger's whether I want to or not while getting changed in a women's changing room...no thanks. I doubt many women recovering from rape or serious sexual assault would be overjoyed at the sudden intrusion of a cock and balls into what had previously been a woman-only space either. Why should a man's right to feel "validated" as a woman trump my right to get changed in comfort and relative safety, or be deemed more important than the potential stress/flashbacks/mental trauma of a rape survivor faced with a strange penis?

MercyMyJewels · 09/03/2017 00:30

Answer mine too Duck

Here it is: www.star-telegram.com/news/local/community/fort-worth/article134353039.html

FORT WORTH
Count federal prisons as the latest battleground for the transgender bathroom debate.

Three female inmates at Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth have filed a flurry of complaints, upset over the Bureau of Prisons policy that allows transgender inmates who are still biologically male to be placed in female prisons.

The women claim that they are living in a degrading and dangerous environment by being forced to share showers and bathrooms with the transgender inmates, according to complaints and motions filed in the U.S. District Court’s Northern District.

The most recent complaint was filed Feb. 15 by inmates Rhonda Fleming, Jeanette Driever and Charlsa Little.

“The Plaintiffs have been forced to share intimate facilities with men, who allege they are women,” the Feb. 15 complaint states. “These men openly express their sexual desire for the women inmates, at times, in the showers, and bathrooms, while women are naked or partially clothed.

And mine please Duck (last sentence of my post).

Duck90 · 09/03/2017 00:33

bev
Which question do you want me to answer? I just looked back and there were several (about 7) question marks. Smile I may not have an answer, just a person who feels that we shouldn't be intolerant of other minority groups.

Note3 · 09/03/2017 00:33

Goodness I had no knowledge of this bill beforehand but thanks to your post OP I am now aware and terrified too. The potential consequences and ramifications are frightening

MercyMyJewels · 09/03/2017 00:37

What about the 72 year old lady exposed to Big Dong City when she is getting changed for Body Balance? What about her rights to dignity and privacy? Do you really think she will continue going and meeting her friends at the class and instead will be isolated in her wee house, alone. That's really progressive stuff

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 09/03/2017 00:37

So Duck what do you say?

Do you think it's okay for a man to self identify as a woman so he can be allowed in to a rape crisis centre or women's DV shelter? Surely a bit of common sense should tell you that could be distressing and triggering for the women at the least and at the worst downright dangerous? What's stopping an abusive man who is trying to track down his partner who is on the run from him from self identifying as a woman so he can be allowed access to a DV shelter? These things are already happening in Canada and the States where gender self ID is now law so what's stopping them from happening here if it becomes law? Or do we just shrug our shoulders and say "live and let live"?

What about sport? I realise this is already happening and trans women are now beating women in competitive sport. But what if it's something like rugby? What's stopping a bloke from self identifying his way onto a woman's rugby team?

Live and let live indeed Hmm.

No one is being intolerant of genuine minority groups. I have respect and empathy for anyone suffering from gender dysphoria or who genuinely feels trapped in the wrong body and hates their genitals, appearance, sense of self etc. They should receive all the support they need.

What I am intolerant of is men who are jumping on a trans bandwagon, who take pride in keeping their dick and their beard and whose aims seem to be making women uncomfortable, giving themselves access to vulnerable women and using the excuse of "teh feelz" to eradicate women's spaces, women's sports and women's voices.

Duck90 · 09/03/2017 00:45

You, I have lost count of who I'm talking to, can shout me down all you want. Tolerance is the only way to live life. There are horrible people out there, but we can't fear change.

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 09/03/2017 00:48

just a person who feels that we shouldn't be intolerant of other minority groups.

You won't find many people on here who disagree with that.

However this is not about minority groups. This is not just about trans gendered people anymore, it has gone far beyond that now.

This is about gender self identification which could possibly be made law in the UK at some point. That means that anyone can say "I'm a woman" or "I'm a man" and that's all they have to do to be recognised as the opposite gender. So Dave can say he's Dave one day but the next day decide he's actually Davina and use the female showers and changing rooms at the gym. Any woman who questions what he is doing there will be seen as committing a hate crime.

Gender self ID laws have already been passed in some countries, such as Canada. There have since been instances of men self identifying as women to be allowed into women's shelters and assaulting women.

Are you really okay with the these things happening in the UK if this gender self ID is made law? I'm certainly not.

Okay, I'll take that as "I don't have any answers to the specific concerns raised because I wasn't aware that the things I thought were just scaremongering for the sake of being transphobic are actually happening here and elsewhere, so here's some meaningless platitudes that don't address how we keep women and girls safe in the face of some particularly nasty and dangerous misogynistic ideology".

Perfectly clear now, thanks.

This is what's being rolled out to schools about 'trans hate crime' and it's insane and scary - this is GIRES work for the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) and as they're both publicly funded it means that we are paying for all this! I do hope schools have better things to do than deliver this training and I certainly wish the resources were being used for more urgent police matters!

Bambambini · 09/03/2017 00:53

I'm not scared, i'm just very angry that males are getting to define what "woman" is and getting access to every female space no matter how women and girls feel about this. What kind of men force themselves on women and girls like this?

NZ weightlifter Tracy Lambrechts just lost her records and her place in the National squad to a male Laurel Hubbard who transitioned a few years ago. Narcissitic Transactivists are only concerned with their own rights / they do not care about women and girls or they wouldn't be pushing for all of this.
