I have tremendous respect for women and the many roles they serve that are vital to the fabric of our society and our economy.

Except for women in foreign countries.

BiglyBadgers · 08/03/2017 12:43

...and the ones that don't 'dress like women'. I notice he doesn't specify any of those important roles. I assume he means making the sandwiches, looking pretty, and keeping the children out the way. Hmm

Don't forget. It's budget day! What exciting cuts will our esteemed conservative government bring us today? BBC has live updates. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/business-39155802

Uh huh, Donald. Just where are all the women you respect so deeply in that picture?

What's that you say? They wouldn't be in the picture because their hair was messy or they didn't have their makeup on?

Rrriiiigggghhhhttt.

Bull. Shit. What a lying arse that man is! I could reel off a handful of measures he has already or is shortly likely to sign off which show that statement up for the lie it is!

cozietoesie · 08/03/2017 16:22

Which is why he's had to make that statement. Smile

Oh - and that will be the form of words that Spice will quote for days or weeks to come! Grin

MoonriseKingdom · 08/03/2017 17:28

Where to even start? I can understand that the Republicans are anti abortion even if I disagree with them. But I don't understand where this limitation on birth control comes from except as someone above said that they are just misogynists. It seems so short sighted.
To cheer you all up (well I like it)

cozietoesie · 08/03/2017 17:35

Has 45 said anything about North Korea today?

BiglyBadgers · 08/03/2017 18:27

Nope. He has been busy trying to convince us all he resurrects women

BiglyBadgers · 08/03/2017 18:29

Haha! Resurrects! That was supposed to say respects Grin

AcrossthePond55 · 08/03/2017 18:30

Cozie Nope, I haven't heard a word. But TBH I don't know if he's ever said anything about NK and missiles. I'm sure he's said they're 'bad dudes' or whatever, it's just that I don't recall him saying specific about missile tests. I really don't think he cares about it as he probably doesn't see it as 'affecting' his fanbase OR his & his cronies' ability to make money.

Moonrise Although I'm sure there are some in Congress who truly feel contraceptives are a 'sin', I'm sure they're a tiny minority. I think it's 'popularity' and profit driven for the majority. It helps them be seen as 'pro-life', for whatever reason. And the less an insurance company has to pay out in reimbursement, the higher the profits and the higher the dividends they pay to shareholders. And the more they save an insurance company, the bigger the campaign donation they may get. In other words 'quid pro quo'.

As a rule, you're dealing with people in Congress who are well off enough that paying out of pocket for contraception is 'no big deal'. And most of them could probably afford another child if an 'accident' were to happen. It's just another way in which they've lost touch with the regular people. The attitude seems to be "pay for it yourself or keep your legs closed".

cozietoesie · 08/03/2017 18:30

Your autocorrect is being awfully 'anticipatory' tonight! Grin

cozietoesie · 08/03/2017 18:32

Across

He probably thinks that 'tactical' nukes are just 'larger than average' cruise missiles. Sad All 'stuff'.

BiglyBadgers · 08/03/2017 18:35

This tweet from Pence. It is weird how some Republicans seem to see getting rid of ACA as more important than actually having something better to replace it

Spicer is doing a press briefing today. See it here www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/08/livewhite-house-briefing-spokesman-sean-spicer/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

I have to do bedtime in a minute, but right now he looks like he might explode talking about healthcare

BiglyBadgers · 08/03/2017 18:53

What! He is talking such crap. Why am i surprised? Argh

AndHoldTheBun · 08/03/2017 18:55

*greatest!

cozietoesie · 08/03/2017 18:56

I'm remembering his comment - inter alia - from last night. Something along the lines of 'This Is nice, isn't it?' To the (specially picked, doubtless) press. I.e. - no awkward questions.

He's not someone who is 'front line'. And he'll never recover from that Melissa McCarthy sketch.

cozietoesie · 08/03/2017 18:59

I'm afraid I can't watch him. Good luck to the rest of you.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 08/03/2017 19:16

That tweet from Pence they're all at it now. Is the way political discourse is going to be conducted in future, complex issues reduced to 140 characters?
