To think my baby is giving me kisses?

Ds is 7 months and just recently has started grabbing my face and smooshing his open mouth anywhere he can get it on my face basically. At first I thought he was hungry but he does it nearly every time I'm giving him a cuddle. Am I mad to think he's giving me kisses? I kiss him a lot so he could have picked it up I suppose. When did your babies start giving you baby kisses?

I can't remember exactly but I'm very jealous! I'd love those moments back!

Cheekylittlemonkeypants · 02/03/2017 14:24

My 7.5mth old does this too, I'm also telling myself it's kisses as he does it in response to me saying 'kiss kiss kid's :-)

Whiterabbitears · 02/03/2017 14:26

I can't remember either but he is showing you affection, lovely times, enjoy his baby kisses!

ImperialBlether · 02/03/2017 14:32

That's brought back so many lovely memories!

KayTee87 · 02/03/2017 14:37

It is adorable and he only does it to me so I feel extra special Smile I'm going to choose to believe that it is indeed kisses. This morning when I was feeding him he held his wee hand against my cheek and stared at me the whole time. Maybe he loves me as much as I love him Grin

Genuinely teary. How lovely.

BingBongBingBong · 02/03/2017 14:40

Sounds like cute baby kisses to me! My DD is almost 16 months and still likes open mothed kissing, practically eats my face sometimes Grin

Obsidian77 · 02/03/2017 14:45

Yes, I think he is trying to kiss you. Very cute Smile

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 02/03/2017 14:45

Aw I love those spitty baby kisses! Grin Like a soap bubble bursting lol.

Elendon · 02/03/2017 14:51

Of course he is. How sweet. I'm melting at the memory of big wet kisses. Smile I just loved those moments. My 15 year old still gives me his hugs and kisses. My dds also keep those kisses and hugs going too, even though they are in their 20s. So cute.

FlyingElbows · 02/03/2017 14:55

Awwwww, that's lovely. There's nothing quite like being sogged by a smooshy kissing baby! Enjoy Grin

Gottagetmoving · 02/03/2017 14:55

Definitely trying to kiss you,..even if it feels like he is eating you Grin

LittleLionMansMummy · 02/03/2017 14:56

Yep. Same way my 14 week old has a special smile just for me! I never tire of that first gummy grin when she sees me first thing in the morning. Can't remember when ds started 'kissing' me, but 7.5 months doesn't sound unrealistic! Enjoy.

Efferlunt · 02/03/2017 15:04

I think they copy at lot. I remember a heart-melting moment around this age when every time we read I'd been grasping DS's finger guiding it to help him 'feel' the touch and feel books. One day he grasped my finger and helped me to feel the pages instead.

KayTee87 · 02/03/2017 15:07

Aww cute effer

pinkie1982 · 02/03/2017 16:34

Aww yes, mine used to do it, with a high pitched squeal like he was excited! I have a video of him doing it to my niece

enchantmentandlove · 02/03/2017 16:47

DD is 8 1/2 months and has done this for a few months too. I definitely think it's kisses as dh and I do kiss her a lot, and it's absolutely lovely (if slobbery!).

Rainatnight · 02/03/2017 16:51

Our DD is 8 months and does the same thing, but I've always assumed she's teething on us! I think she views our cheeks, lips and China as giant teething toys. Though I'd like to think they were kisses. Wink

Today, she came towards me open mouthed for a big gummy chew/kiss and BELCHED INTO MY MOUTH.

(But I still love her.).

Rainatnight · 02/03/2017 16:52

Chins! Not China, damn autocorrect.

GirlElephant · 02/03/2017 16:53

Awwww! I'm looking forward to when my DS can do this, so sweet

TheLegendOfBeans · 02/03/2017 16:57

Undoubtedly.

My DD has done this since godknowswhen. What started with "hunt the nipple" to feed graduates up to my face and then to "kisses".

Which is adorable.

However, she cut four teeth at six months and I've had a few unwanted "facial piercings" 😂

amysmummy12345 · 02/03/2017 16:59

My DD does this. It might be cute if she didn't grab those really sensitive hairs that grow on the temples as tightly as she can, I end up with my eyes watering, trying not to scream like a banshee when she does it 😂

RainyDayBear · 02/03/2017 16:59

Oh I'd forgotten all about this. DD used to do this around 8 months when I picked her up after work and was excited to see me. I'd just gone back to work full time and was really struggling, it was just the absolute loveliest thing. She used to smooshily kiss my chin!!

AyeAmarok · 02/03/2017 17:03

This morning when I was feeding him he held his wee hand against my cheek and stared at me the whole time. Maybe he loves me as much as I love him

Applebite · 02/03/2017 17:04

God you're so lucky. Mine (17 months) just squirms to be put down if you dare to try and pick her up. She will only do cuddles if she wakes up sad in the middle of the night or if SHE feels like affection, whereupon she comes and leans her head against you for a bit before running off.

Why don't I have a kissy koala baby?!
